What is cataract, how it does effect the humans and what are the steps to cure cataract. Does it only attacks humans ...
The lens inside the eye works much like a camera lens, focusing light onto the retina for clear vision. It also adjusts the eye's focus, letting us see things clearly both up close and far away. The lens is mostly made of water and protein. The protein is arranged in a precise way that keeps the lens clear and gets light pass through it. But as we age, some of the protein may clump together and start to cloud a small area of the lens. This is a cataract, and over time, it may grow larger and cloud more of the lens, making it harder to see. No one knows for sure why the eye's lens changes as we age, forming cataracts. But certain factors that may cause cataracts or are associated with cataract development. Besides advancing age, cataract risk factors include: •Ultraviolet radiation from sunlight and other sources •Diabetes •Hypertension •Obesity •Smoking •Prolonged use of corticosteroid medications •Statin medicines used to reduce cholesterol •Previous eye injury or inflammation •Previous eye surgery •Hormone replacement therapy •Significant alcohol consumption •High myopia •Family history One theory of cataract formation that's gaining favor is that many cataracts are caused by oxidative changes in the human lens. This is supported by nutritional studies that show fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants may help prevent certain types of cataracts.- Prevention of Cataract Although it iss still a debate if Cataract can be prevented but a number of studies suggest certain nutrients and nutritional supplements may reduce your risk of cataractsSome studies have shown that higher dietary intakes of vitamin E and the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin from food and supplements were associated with significantly decreased risks of cataract.Good food sources of vitamin E include sunflower seeds, almonds and spinach.-Good sources of lutein and zeaxanthin include spinach, kale and other green, leafy vegetables.--Other studies have shown antioxidant vitamins such as vitamin C and foods containing omega-3 fatty acids may reduce cataract risk.Another step you can take to reduce your risk of cataracts is to wear protective sunglasses that block 100 percent of the sun's UV rays when you are outdoors

Hello. There is no medication or food for improving eye sight or to get rid of glasses. Get your vision tested and wear glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 23 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik. Your problems of pain. Irritation is due to dry eyes. You can do 1. Blink a lot 2. Cold compresses 3. Use lubricating eyedrop.

You could opt for LASIK once and later ayurveda therapies and medications could help improve your quality of vision and strengthen your eyes gradually.. To max prevent the progression in myopia.

Hello lasik is very good option to get rid of glasses doctor will perform few tests (schirmer test, pentacam and fundus examination) and if all tests are normal then you can go for lasik surgery without fear. Success rate of lasik is over 96%. Side effects may vary from minimal like mild dryness, dalk, haloes, glare to severe like infection (very rare).

My eyes power are becoming less day by day. I am suffering from high myopia and my glass power is -7.50 D (left eye) and -6.50 D (right eye)? Will I become blind one day?

My eyes power are becoming less day by day. I am suffering from high myopia and my glass power is -7.50 D (left eye) ...
Hello lybrate-user. You will definitely not go blind. The power of the eyes is dependent on certain genetic and hereditary criteria. The length of the eyeball determines the power of the eyes. The longer the eyeball, the higher the minus number of the eyes. The growth of the eyeball will occur according to multiple factors such as age, heredity, genetics, etc. Thus, it will surely progress to the power it is genetically programmed to. This does not mean that you will become blind. I have a few suggestions for you: (1) get your eyesight checked every 3 months. (2) get your retina evaluated every 6 months. This should be done by a retina specialist. (3) eat a healthy antioxidant rich diet. Let me enumerate the diet necessary for healthy eyes. (a) green leafy vegetables including spinach, sprouts, cabbage, beetroot. (b) fruits-blue-berries, black-berries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, grapes, pineapple, pomegranate, grapes, guava. (c) dry-fruits: almonds, walnuts, apricots, dates. (d) cereals: oats, barley, millets. (e) drink a cup of green tea daily. (f) drink a glass of milk daily. (4) avoid excessive/ heavy weight lifting. This could be harmful for the eyes. (5) avoid tobacco consumption in any form such as chewing/ smoking/etc. Let me know if you require further assistance. Take care-regards.

3 Quick-fix Ways To Get Rid of Puffy Eyes
How to get rid of puffy eyes

Puffy eyes are not a very welcome sight to see early in the morning. Lack of sleep, hangovers, poor diet, sinus, hormonal changes, stress, crying and even genetics are few reasons why one wakes up with puffy eyes.

Some very easy ways to get rid of them are:

1. Stay hydrated: drink water to stay hydrated and avoid puffy eyes.

2. Watch your diet: avoid or reduce the amount of salt you take in your food. It is a good idea to avoid cold drinks as well as caffeinated drinks.

3. Soothe your eyes: take chilled, thick slices of cucumber and place them on the closed eyelids until they become warm. It will effectively work to reduce puffy eyes.
