How can I control hairfall. I am loosing my hairs at sides above temple. Wt I hav to do to control it?
STRESS AND WORRY are major factors in causing hair fall. Unless it is answered, it is very difficult. In stead of bothering about hair fall, concentrate on what is required out of you at this age. You will excel there and your problem will stop by itself. Do not go for any anti anxiety drugs. Avoid all medicines and shampoos. General guidelines: Take utmost care to get good sleep; if stressed out knowingly or suffering unknowingly, seek help to address the issue. Total darkness in the bed room is very essential for good sleep. No night lamps even. When sleep is disturbed, hair fall starts. Don't go for any so called branded hair oil but use genuine, virgin coconut oil only. Avoid all shampoos. Apply virgin coconut oil freely, let it soak it for 20 minutes, Apply Shikakai or mild, very diluted shampoo lightly. Not more than once a week. Continue and wait for 3 months to see good results Food: Panneer, cheese, eggs, chicken, fish.

Dear lybrate user, pimples/ acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which develops due to blocking of the hair follicles in skin. These blockages occur due to 4 abnormal processes: 1) excess sebum production due to androgens 2) excessive deposition of the protein keratin leading to comedone formation 3) infection of propionibacterium acnes (p. Acnes) bacteria on the hair follicles 4) local release of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the skin. Neither can you stop the overproduction of androgen or keratin protein nor can you stop the release of pro-inflammatory chemicals because all these processes takes place internally in your skin. However you can stop the accumulation of p. Acnes bacteria on your skin by preventing your skin from getting oily. Always keep a handkerchief with you whenever you go outside. You should wipe off the slightest amount of sweat from your face as soon as you perspire on entering your room from outside wash your face with an oil-free, non-moisturizing face wash. Take a low carbohydrate diet. Do some exercise daily. Drink a lots of water to avoid constipation. Avoid pricking the pimples or popping the sebum as it may lead to black pigmentation & permanent scar formation. You can also take homoeopathic calcarea phos 200, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach also you can apply homoeopathic mother tincture berberis aquifolium q on the dark spots on your skin which are produced after the resolution of the pimples.

What to do to not get diabetes, BP and all diseases. Does eating vit c and vit e supplements bad for health? How to get fair? And what are the supplements to get fair skin?

Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes t2 is a preventable disease, so is high blood pressure. But t1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease and can not be prevented. Following healthy habits, exercising regularly, taking a balanced diet, avoiding junk food, alcohol and smoking can help a person healthy and free from diabetes (t2) and high blood pressure. But no one can remain totally disease free. Human skin colour can not be changed, whatever one might do or apply to it. One should accept the colour god has given. Taking various vitamin supplements without any deficiency is not going to benefit.

Hi Nari, Diabetes is a metabolic disorder. our metabolism depends upon what type of food we have.Diabetes itself is the result of all over the long period. it's never like u can't have the sweet things but other things should be avoided or controlled on that day.If u like banana u can have small bite of it. also remember it has high glycemic index means more sugar content..What u love is more important.

Only thing I want to add is that after refrigragion you can thaw the milk by keeping the katori in lukewarm container. And for two days you should express the milk and empty the breast whenever possible just to maintain adequate milk supplies.

I feel depressed, anxious and do not know what should I do in my career. I masturbate a lot, almost daily to get slept in night, but I feel it is damaging my body as I feel lethargic all the time to do anything. What is the solution?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
I feel depressed, anxious and do not know what should I do in my career. I masturbate a lot, almost daily to get slep...
People wrongly believe that masturbation is a bad habit, or sin and it causes loss of energy and many side effects can occur. All these are myths and it is a safe act to give vent to sexual drive in men who cannot do sex. People fear if they have adverse effect on marriage or that their energy is wasted and such many funny misbeliefs are going around and all are not true. One can do as many times as he feels and health or energy is not affected or there will be no effect on marriage If you feel depressed, it's best to do something about it — depression doesn't just go away on its own. In addition to getting help from a doctor or therapist, here are 5 things you can do to feel better. And if these are not useful you need antidepressants 1. Exercise. Take a 15- to 30-minute brisk walk every day — or dance, jog, or bike if you prefer. People who are depressed may not feel much like being active. In addition to getting aerobic exercise, some yoga poses can help relieve feelings of depression. Two other aspects of yoga — breathing exercises and meditation — can also help people with depression feel better. 2. Nurture yourself with good nutrition. Depression can affect appetite. One person may not feel like eating at all, but another might overeat.. Proper nutrition can influence a person's mood and energy. So eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get regular meals (even if you don't feel hungry, try to eat something light, like a piece of fruit, to keep you going). 3. Identify troubles, but don't dwell on them. Try to identify any situations that have contributed to your depression. When you know what's got you feeling blue and why, talk about it with a caring friend. Talking is a way to release the feelings and to receive some understanding. 4. Express yourself. With depression, a person's creativity and sense of fun may seem blocked. Exercise your imagination (painting, drawing, doodling, sewing, writing, dancing, composing music, etc.) and you not only get those creative juices flowing, you also loosen up some positive emotions. Take time to play with a friend or a pet, or do something fun for yourself. Find something to laugh about — a funny movie, perhaps. Laughter helps lighten your mood. 5. Try to notice good things. Depression affects a person's thoughts, making everything seem dismal, negative, and hopeless. If depression has you noticing only the negative, make an effort to notice the good things in life. Try to notice one thing, then try to think of one more. Consider your strengths, gifts, or blessings. Most of all, don't forget to be patient with yourself. Depression takes time to heal. If you are happy with these answers please click on "useful” link so that I can know my efforts are not wasted. If you want more clarifications or prescription for medicines consult me on this site to ask me directly and not in open questions session It's not easy to say exactly what causes depression and anxiety – it's different for everyone. Sometimes a difficult time in you or your mates' life can set off depression or anxiety, sometimes it's caused by a combination of things that has built up over time and sometimes, there's just no obvious cause at all.

Dehydration

MBBS, AFIH, PGDMLS, MD-HRM, MD-HM
General Physician, Gurgaon
Dehydration

In summers, one must take care of his hydration levels as the heat and rising temperature of the day in summers makes you to lose water from your body and create the status of dehydration. Moreover, in summers one suffers from diarrhea (डायरिया (Diarrhea). लगातार लूज मोशन यानि पतला दस्त आना, उल्टी होना डायरिया कहलाता है।) which happens because food gets spoiled quickly in summers.

Therefore, one must be careful while eating outside food in order to avoid food infection and thereby loose motions and dedydration.

If your tongue and throat feel dryness, you tend to be sleepy and your concentration to listen anything around start diminishing, it is sign of dehydration. If pulse increase, urine formation decrease it is bad sign during dehydration which poses a risk to your kidneys.

Many dehydration cases land up in kidney failure if dehydration is not correcetd timely by I.V. Fluids or Oral Rehydration Therapy.

Save your kidneys and correct dehydration timely. Be careful in summers. Drink more water. Have lemon juice or buttermilk daily.

My wife is 47 years old having chronic problem of low blood pressure, low pulses and sometimes, subsequent depression. Can you suggest some minimal medication to cure this problem. Thanks.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
I understand your concern and would explain that low blood pressure could be related to different causes: - chronic anemia - dehydration - electrolytes imbalances from malnutrition - orthostatic hypotension, etc. I would recommend performing some tests to investigate for the possible cause: - a resting ECG - blood lab tests (complete blood count, blood electrolytes, kidney and liver function tests) A head up tilt test would be necessary to exclude possible orthostatic hypotension. If all these tests result normal there is nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, I would recommend avoiding prolonged standing up position and take plenty of fluids (water, juices) to stay well hydrates. An increase in the salt and caffeine intake could help in raising blood pressure. Hope to have been helpful! Greetings!
