I am suffering from backache. Now I feel pain in my leg from back. Which is going to b more worse.

You may have sciatica pain. To manage new sciatica pain, you may find that certain positions and activities are more comfortable than others. The proper exercises from a physiotherapist will help reduce sciatic pain. The exercises recommended will depend on what's causing the sciatica. It's important to work with a specialist who has experience working with people with sciatica. It's also important to do the exercises exactly as directed. Here are some home treatments for sciatica which you can follow: -do not bend, lift, or sit in a soft, low chair; the pain will get worse. -try a cold pack to see if it helps the pain. If you don't have a cold pack, use a large bag of frozen vegetables; it makes a good first aid cold pack. -after the cold massages, try alternating with heat from hot bag. -you may feel better lying on your back on a firm surface with a pillow under knees. Another option is lying on side with a pillow between the knees to keep the back straight. Also, a recliner chair is helpful. -do activities one you are able to tolerate. Best wishes.

These are the decisions to be made by the experts, after your clinical examination and radiological reports this will be decided, depending upon the purpose for which rod was used, so it will be better if you seek advice from the doctor who treated you at that time.

Madam there are many types of joint pain and each type has a different approach of treatment. If you are having an acute episode of joint pain meet a nearby orthopaedician and either take rest or you can go for aquatic exercises. Thank you.

I am 39 years male I have backpain since 9 years. When I pull up heavy thing & eat sure & driving bike I got heavy backpain. Now what can I do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned backache as only problem. Since you are very young, if you have only localized backache with no other associated symptoms like radiating leg pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will need to evaluate you further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hi Doctor I have problem in my hand when I play badminton at morning daily their is soo much pain in my elbow and wrist

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am dr akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your complaints are focused on pain in elbow and wrist region and these have started only after you have started playing badminton. I would advise you for: - initial intensive ice packs - analgesic spray for application - short course of anti-inflammatory medications - cessation of playing for around 2 weeks let' s give it a try for 2 weeks, and if then it does not improve, then you let me know. Even your resumption after pain subsides has to be gradual. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

Sudden jerky movements, lifting heavy weights the wrong way etc can cause a back sprain. Take rest for three days. Use a pain relieving liniment like myovedic. Give hot fomentation to the affected area. If the pain does not come down in three days visit a orthopedic.
