My all reports are normal. My husbands reports are normal. We have try to conceived last 3 years. But not success. My husband and my family worried about this. And I have done ovulation study also. What we can do now.

If ovulation study has been done for more than 3 cycles, it's the time to step up. I personally prefer to review the reports and go for iui.

Menorrhagia (Heavy Menstrual Periods) - A Common Indication For Hysterectomy

M.D. Gyn. & Obstetrics, MBBS, Diploma in Advanced Gynaec Laparoscopic Surgery, D.N.B., F.C.P.S.(Mid. & Gynae), D.G.O., D.F.P.
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Menorrhagia (Heavy Menstrual Periods) - A Common Indication For Hysterectomy

Menorrhagia refers to very heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding or periods in women. The bleeding is abnormal in nature, and if this continues for a long time, a hysterectomy surgery needs to be carried out to solve the problem.

Bleeding during the night time and passage of large blood clots during menstruation are other symptoms of Menorrhagia.

Causes:

The various possible causes of this kind of heavy menstrual bleeding are:

  1. Hormonal imbalance, specifically of estrogen and progesterone is a common cause, which is more likely in adolescents and in women nearing menopause. Dysfunction in the ovaries also causes hormonal imbalance.

  2. Non-cancerous tumors or fibroids may also be responsible for menorrhagia.

  3. Women suffering from a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy are likely to experience heavy menstrual bleeding.

  4. Using blood thinners may lead to menorrhagia.

  5. An intrauterine device used for birth control measures can cause disturbance and may lead to heavy menstruation.

  6. A condition known as adenomyosis, where the glands in the uterus lining get embedded in the walls of the uterus, also causes menorrhagia.

  7. Pelvic inflammatory diseases, infection in the uterus or fallopian tubes are other common causes.

  8. Heavy bleeding may occur in patients with ovarian or cervical cancer.

  9. Diseases of the kidney, liver or thyroid diseases may also cause menorrhagia.

Diagnostic Tests:

Several tests and methods are carried out for the diagnosis of menorrhagia. They are:

  1. A general physical examination.

  2. Bleeding diary of the woman.

  3. Blood tests to detect anemia or thyroid.

  4. Pap Smear for the evaluation of cervical inflammation, infections or cancer

  5. Ultrasound for evaluation of pelvic organs like uterus, ovaries and pelvis.

  6. Hysteroscopy, where a camera is inserted into the uterus to observe the linings.

  7. Sonohysterography, where a fluid gets instilled into the uterus along with an ultrasound test.

Treatment:

Certain drugs are used to treat menorrhagia. They include:

  1. Iron supplements for treating anemia.

  2. NSAIDS or non-steroidal anti-inflammatories for treating and reducing blood loss.

  3. Tranexamic acid is used for reducing menstrual bleeding.

  4. Several oral contraceptives are used for regulation of the menstrual cycle. Oral progesterone corrects hormonal imbalance and reduces bleeding.

Surgical procedures for treatment of menorrhagia include:

  1. Hysteroscopy, dilation and curettage, where uterus lining is scraped and evaluated.

  2. Uterine artery embolization treats menorrhagia with fibroids.

  3. Focused ultrasound ablation enables the killing of the fibroid tissue.

  4. Myomectomy, endometrial ablation and endometrial resection are other surgical techniques.

  5. Hysterectomy surgery is the penultimate solution, where the uterus, cervix or ovaries are completely removed.

Menorrhagia is characterized by abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding in women. This is quite unhealthy and proper measures must be taken for curing the heavy bleeding.

Yes, many women with PCOS conceive well but may need some assistance. Most of them conceive after simple things like weight control and exercise. In other women, drugs may be needed.

Did You Know LUCID DREAMING at Night, Makes Your Smarter?
4 Amazing Benefits of Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming is any dream where you’re aware that what you’re experiencing is a dream. It takes place during your REM sleep (a sleep state that is characterised by random and quick eye movements alongside muscle paralysis). A study conducted on lucid dreaming shows that this form of dreaming comes with an increased activity in those areas of the brain that are, in general, dormant during sleep.

There are quite a few techniques of lucid dreaming. One of the ways is to maintain a dream journal, where you write down the dream you’ve had just after waking up. This trains your brain to remember your dreams so that you can consciously enter into a state of dreaming.

Lucid dreaming has impressive health benefits you’d be surprised to know about.
1. Develops your memory
Both lucid sleep and dreaming enable you to reinforce everything you may have learned when you were awake. They also enable you to consciously select the things that you want to remember.
While sleep, in general, is responsible for solidifying the memories that you create when you’re awake, dreams, in particular, are responsible for solidifying your episodic memory. Standing for the memory of your personal experiences of a particular place and time, episodic memory performs the function of a muscle memory (memory that is concerned with the development of motor skills) and helps you to learn new skills, while perfecting the skills you already have.

3. Helps in improving your game
In this context, lucid dreaming can significantly improve your gaming skills as you get the chance to practice them in the dream world. A study shows that the neurons that get activated when you dream of scoring a goal is the same as those when you’re scoring the goal in the real world. So, the visualisation of the act of scoring enables you to improve your performance in the real world.

3. Helps in overcoming anxiety
Being in a lucid dream gives you the opportunity to practice any number of terrifying scenarios, so that you can make changes as and when you want to in order to overcome anxiety.
Representing a state between being wakeful and in a REM sleep, lucid dreaming offers you with the possibility to push your boundaries where you can be anyone and do anything. It can be a good stress relieving mechanism.

4. It improves your sleep
One of the biggest benefits of lucid dreaming is that it augments your overall sleep quality by making you more aware of your dreams, and subsequently of your sleep. Awareness is an important factor for getting sound sleep since it helps in experiencing true relaxation. The outcome is you end up feeling more rested and refreshed. Gaining control over your dreams can also help in reducing nightmares, thereby improving your sleep.

Dietary tips to overcome PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

Hi, I am Divya Gandhi. I am owner of Diet N Cure, I’m a dietician. Today we will talk about PCOD which is a very common condition which females are suffering these days.

Now, what exactly is PCOD?

PCOD is a hormonal imbalance which can cause a number of things like insulin resistance, it can cause hirsutism plus it can cause changes in your menstruation cycle. Females who are married they can face some problem in conception as well. Now the point is what kind of diet one needs to take when a person is suffering from this kind of condition. Generally, people say that the diet should be less in carbohydrate. Do not carbohydrate; just take good amount of protein and less of fat which is wrong. Carbohydrate can be taken in PCOD but at the same time it should not be a simple carbohydrate. It should be complex carbohydrate like if you want to eat pasta, you can have whole wheat pasta, you can take wheat bran. Instead of cornflakes you can have bran flakes. Instead of white bread or refined bread you can have brown bread or multigrain bread. Plus instead of taking the wheat flour you can add a little bit of whole wheat bran to it to make it little fibrous.

Now, we talk about the fat part.

Person who is suffering from PCOD is at risk of having diabetes. So we need to cut down on the fat intake. For example instead of cooking everything in desi ghee or butter you need o switch to canola or olive oil. Plus any kind of table salt should be restricted. Because salt intake can also increase your weight. Now, we come to protein, when we are on a diet we need to put emphasis on protein. We need to give at least 1.5 gram of your body weight, ideal body weight of protein. For example, if a person is 70 kg, the person needs at least 70 gram of protein in a day; to lose weight and to give a better inch loss. Apart from it if we talk about the kitchen herbs in PCOD, there are two herbs that can act like a wonder thing.

One is leaves of the Ashok plant. What you need to do, you need to take two-three leaves and boil it in a pot, reduce the water to half, strain it, add little bit of lemon to it and consume. If you take this water approximately a month or two, I can assure you that the condition of PCOD will be better and it may get controlled. Second you can take coriander water, what you need to do, you just need to soak handful of coriander leaves overnight in a glass of water. The next morning, strain it, add a little bit of lemon so that it will detoxify you as well as drink it the next morning. So, if you want to get rid of this PCOD, these kinds of tips, you need to follow it even if a girl is not started with the menarche. So that in future you will not face any kind of problem.

If you want to talk to me or if you want to take consultation from me then you can always contact me through Lybrate.

No, she isn't pregnant as you had the act hardly within 4 days of her periods which will be considered as a safe period where she will not become pregnant even if you have the act. However as she got her periods on 24th there is no question of pregnancy.

You can try one or two more cycles of IUI but I would advice hormonal suppression for 3 months if your hormonal levels are abnormal due to PCOD.

Results of HBV serologic markers can be reported qualitatively or quantitatively as international units (IU) or signal per cutoff (s/c) value. For example, a hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) level of less than 1 s/c is considered negative, while a level more than 5 s/c is considered positive. Any value between 1 and 5 s/c is indeterminate and should be repeated. For hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs), a level less than 5 mIU is considered negative, while a level more than 12 mIU is considered protective. Any value between 5 and 12 mIU is indeterminate and should be repeated.

Sometimes during pregnancy these type of skin changes can occur due to hormonal changes. Good moisturiser will help you. After delivery it will go away if it is pregnancy induced. But make sure with your obstetrician that it is only pregnancy changes.

It will not be impossible to deliver by the vaginal route just because you have put on too much of weight. Try having low calorie diet from now onwards. Hypertension and diabetes during pregnancy r other problems associated with excessive weight gain.
