Hi. My dad has bp and diabetis. He is always shouting, scolding my mother very badly. Ours was a happy family, after my marriage things have changed a lot. My parents quarrel a lot. I don't know how to solve this issue. Please help me. Also, my dad is not ready to visit any doctors, infact he doesn't take his diabetics medicines. I have got one sister who is working in different place. And my brother who is a government employee who is married since 2 years. My dad scolds, fights with my mother in front of my brothers wife. My brothers wife doesn't want to stay with my parents. So she is also making my parents to fight. Seeing this my brother is spoiling his health. He doesn't want to leave parents and stay in different house. My brothers salary is very less and he doesn't get is salary on time, it gets delayed by 2 - 3 months sometimes. My dad scolds my brother also as he is not able to manage home (as his salary gets delayed). My dad is still working, as he do not want to stay in home. My dad daily drinks in the night and quarels once he come home. I got busy with my work and family, I hardly call my dad and speak. Now my dad has taken all these things to heart and keeps telling me he should not have made us studied instead he should have kept money with him for his future. Now my mother is suffering my seeing my fathers behaviour towards her and my brother wife do not want to stay with my parents since they quarel and my brother do not want to leave my parents and live in different house. If my brother doesn't make a different house she do want to live with him. My brothers wife is mentally torturing him daily. I am in deep trouble, not able to solve these issues. Please guide me.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Loosing someone dear and near causes grief. Grief leads to disappointment. Grief related disappointment manifests symptoms as in the case of depression. But disappointment symptoms are far shorter in duration than depression. These symptoms will vanish in some days or weeks. Don’t worry. Physical exercise, outdoor games, entertainment, hobbies etc could help you divert your attention. I suggest cognitive therapy. Take care.

hello doctor. Some one in my circle is very much addicted toward alcohol. He is about 30 years old, he consumed alcohol in large amount. And and perform unacceptable activities. After drunk he can't able to take a step. He also abuse family member. please suggest what step taken to get rid off. Is it right to admit him in any hospital like (nisha mukti kendra).

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, before taking him to any rehabilitation centre kindly try the following therapy at home:- mix 30 drops of homoeopathic mother tincture acid sulph q in a bottle of 2litres of water. Keep that medicine mixed bottle isolated. Whenever the patient asks for water to drink give him that medicine mixed water to drink. Since the medicine is colourless, odourless & tasteless, the patient would not be able to identify the medicine present in water. He will easily drink 2 litres of water in a day. Thus he will intake the medicine along with water without even knowing it. Repeat the same process everyday. This medicine shows effective result by decreasing the craving for alcohol within just 2 weeks.

I am a 20 year old student. I have been suffering from depression for the last 8-10 months. I am unable to concentrate on my studies and lately I have started to lose focus on my career and my goals. I am demotivated, frustrated and starting to lose my self esteem. I was a very good student and I secured high marks during my board exams but now I don't feel like studying. I have started losing confidence. What should I do?

It is natural to be anxious when you are writing an importantexam so that you do well but excess anxiety can be counterproductive and hinder your learning and revision. If you are suffering from depression, then you will need to take psychiatric treatment and undergo psychological counselling as well to manage depression. Cognitive behaviour therapy is excellent for controlling rumination and negative thinking, anger management and any emotional disturbance. 1. You need to understand the source of your emotional upheaval and learn to either manage with it or cope with it so that you can concentrate on your studies. 3. Exercising regularly within your capacity is very important so that natural neuro are released in the brain and you will feel relax and calmer and more confident and motivated to do many things. You can run, walk, gym, dance, whatever you can and want to do. 4. Avoid all kind od processed and refined foods and replace with fresh fruit and vegetables for your nutrition. You need more of lean proteins, omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin b12 and vitamin d3 for optimal brain functioning and emotional wellbeing. 5. Sleeping well for 6-8 hours every night is important for the brain to recoup from daily stress and body from physical stress. Please do bhramri and anulom vilom pranayama to help you sleep well every evening for 10 min each. Please give your exams only that much importance that is due to it because life is more than these exams and not everything in your life depends on them.

I am addicted to a game and I am unable to stop playing that game. Please help me.
Gaming addiction etc comes under behavior addiction. Behavioral addiction is a form of addiction that involves a compulsion to engage in a rewarding non-drug-related behavior – sometimes called a natural reward – despite any negative consequences to the person's physical, mental, social or financial well-being. Behavior addiction needs to be curbed or controlled using your own self will power. Diverting your mind and body away from the circumstances which compels you for the addictive habit, with the help of physical exercises, games, entertainment etc can help you. Never sleep alone. Be always with your family even at night etc are some other tips. Willpower is the key always. Behavioral therapy also works well. Take care.

What is his age, have you consulted a child counsellor. Check whether his grades are getting affected. The person whom he listens to must make years son understand the side effects of video game s and then freeze a particular time for these games and make a routine.

Dear user Cannabis (Weed) intake is known to have such reactions. This usually normalizes after a few hours. However, regular cannabis use can lead to many psychological problems. I would advise that you should not consume cannabis. If your symptoms persist, you should seek detailed consultation with a psychiatrist. Regards.
