Do not worry lybrate-user. You are normal and so is your fibroadenoma. No need to get it operated till it crosses 3 cm or changes the aesthetics of your breast. You fall with in the normal range of ANDI. You can go ahead and get married without any worry of cancer or further troubles.

Sir my father is 58 year old. He was operated for oral cancer in the month of may last year. He was given chemo and radiation therapy, his reconstruction surgery was planned in the month of Dec 2015. In blood test doctor found plc is more and subsequently x ray and ct scan carried out and found that cancer is developed in chest. Now they are refusing to do any surgery and treatment except medication. They have called my father after one month medication. Sir my father is on liquid food since May last year and and too weak. Please guide me what to do. He can not move without help. Can you people do the reconstruction surgery? Sir it is very difficult for me to bring him from Lucknow. I will send you report of ct scan and blood test if you give some positive response.

Ex Sen.V.Surgeon/Research Scientist, M.D.(Alternative Medicine/tibetan/chinese/acupuncture), Vaida/ Unani, Homeopath
Unani Specialist, Moga
Hi dear -your problem can be solved, in my opinion, if you follow my advise as per;;- -u may need 3-4 doctors help- for cure -1--u take cancero medicine course--1-2 months -2 -- go for reconstruction surgery -3-- again no. 1- course--4 months -4- take help of radiology along with --------------------------------------------------- -step-3 and 1 -;;--curative treatment;- -tibetan therapy--medicine -cancero - course is the best treatment available so for, with almost 100%--results. It is a newly entrant in the field of oral medical cancer therapy, and is available with very few tibetan experts only. Most of doctorsare still unaware of its use. With no side effects, it can be used both as preventive as well as curative in all types of cancers/ tumors. Its 6 month course or so is sufficient to cure cancer of any type, at any stage, provided the patient is able to take medicines orally. It converts cancers into tumors and then cures. It can be used alone or in combination with other therapies, if cancer is in advanced stage. -its pack is available in 3 forms;- -cancero-th+, cancero-thu+, cancero-thua+ --so a combination of all may be required for final positive results.

If the lump is not increasing in size for the last 12 years, chances are that it should be a simple one, still get it removed and also have its histopathology done

Colposcopy and Cervical Biopsy - Procedure that is Followed

DGO , MBBS
Gynaecologist, Pune
Colposcopy and Cervical Biopsy - Procedure that is Followed

Colposcopy is a procedure that is used to get a closer view of a women’s cervix, vagina and vulva. It is a procedure carried on to detect the presence of any abnormal cells on the cervix and nearby areas.

Why is Colposcopy done?
This procedure is carried out to see the problems in the vagina and cervix which may otherwise be not visible with a naked eye. A colposcopy is done when the Pap test results are abnormal. These abnormalities could be due to several reasons like viral infections namely human papillomavirus (HPV) infection or any other fungal (yeast), bacterial or protozoan (Trichomonas) infection. Atrophic vaginitis or natural cervical changes due to menopause can also lead to abnormal Pap test results. However one needs to be careful because these untreated cervical cell changes that lead to abnormal Pap tests can at times develop into precancerous or cancerous changes.

Cervical Biopsy
In case during colposcopy, an abnormal tissue is found in the problem areas, the doctor will remove a tiny sample of it and send it to the lab. This is normally known as a biopsy or cervical biopsy which is done from inside the opening of the cervix or endocervical canal.

Procedure for a colposcopy and biopsy
A colposcopy is normally a pain free procedure where at times some women might feel a slight tingling or burning sensation when the solution is applied. Biopsy might lead to a little discomfort like that of a sharp pinch or a menstrual cramp. During colposcopy a speculum or a small instrument is inserted into the vagina to spread apart the vaginal walls. In order to see the area more clearly the doctor dabs the cervix or vagina with a cotton swab dipped in vinegar (acetic acid) or Iodine (Lugol's solution). The solution is used to remove any kind of mucus and also makes the abnormal cells turn white in order to be clearly visible.

The doctor then uses a colposcope, a light magnifying device that looks like binoculars and has a bright light mounted to it. It also has a camera attached to it to take the videos or pictures of the cervix and vagina.
Biopsies are normally done by scraping away abnormal cells with a small brush or a small curette.

Results of colposcopy or cervical Biopsy
In case of Normal results the vinegar or iodine will not show the presence of any abnormal cells and the vagina and cervix look normal. But in case of abnormal results, there are abnormal tissues seen in the problem areas. It could also be a sore or a genital wart or infection in and around the vagina. The biopsy report would clarify whether it is cervical cancer or is likely to develop. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist and ask a free question.

All about Neuroblastoma

European Society for Medical Oncology certification, DM - Oncology, MD - General Medicine, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
All about Neuroblastoma

Most commonly occurring in children aged 5 or younger, Neuroblastoma is a type of cancer developing from immature nerve cells most often found in and around the adrenal glands. However, it is not limited and can develop in several other areas of the body, like the chest, neck, spine and different areas of the abdomen where nerve cells can be found in clusters.

Symptoms:
Depending upon the area of the body affected, signs and symptoms may include:

1. Neuroblastoma in the abdomen:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea, constipation or other changes in bowel movements
  • A lump of mass under the skin which is anything but tender

2. Neuroblastoma in the chest:

  • Chest pain
  • Wheezing
  • Visible changes in the eyes, such as drooping eyelids or unequal pupil size

3. There are other signs and symptoms caused by neuroblastoma. These may include:

  • Lumps of tissue found under the skin
  • Bruise-like dark circles visible around the eyes
  • Fever
  • Proptosis (a condition in which eyeballs seem to protrude from the sockets)
  • Back pain
  • Bone pain
  • Unexplained weight loss

Causes: Neuroblastoma typically originates in neuroblasts. These are immature nerve cells formed by the fetus as part of the development process. Eventually, neuroblasts convert into fibres and nerve cells which then make up the constituents of the adrenal gland. Normally, they either mature or gradually disappear. Others, which neither mature nor disappear, form tumors.

Complications:
A number of problems may result out of neuroblastoma, including:

  1. Metastasis or spread of the cancerous cells
  2. Spinal cord compression
  3. Paraneoplastic symptoms, such as rapid eye movement or difficulty with eye coordination
  4. Abdominal swelling
  5. Diarrhea

Treatment:
Depending on the child's age, the stage of the cancer, or the types of cells involved, the treatment plan varies accordingly:

  1. Surgery - However, this depends on the size and location of the tumor. Tumors growing near vital organs are too risky to remove
  2. Chemotherapy - involves the use of chemotherapy drugs
  3. Radiation therapy - involves high energy beams, like X-rays
  4. Stem cell transplant or autologous stem cell transplant in case of high-risk neuroblastoma
  5. Immunotherapy - involves drugs which stimulate the immune system to destroy cancerous cells
