Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Contrast Bath. Sports Taping. Back Pain In Kids and Teens - Why It Should Not Be Ignored?

Back Pain In Kids and Teens - Why It Should Not Be Ignored?

Over the years of adulthood, a combination of bad posture along with wear and tear means that a significant amount of the adult population is affected by back pain. But is this normal for children, as well? Well, in most cases, the answer is a 'No'.

  • Children and adolescents have a greater degree of flexibility than adults, that is they do not complain of back pain as much as adults do. So when should a parent be worried if their child complains of acute back pain?
  • If a child is very active, then this could be a cause for concern when it comes to injury to the back. Due to the rough nature of the sort of activity that he or she is engaged in, stress fractures are possible. These injuries are generally explained by overuse. What a parent needs to keep an eye out for is, if the child complains of pain when certain actions are performed. So, back pain which occurs, say, during butterfly stroke when the child swims could mean that the child has a case of spondylolysis or a stress fracture.
  • If the back pain is so bad that the sleep of the child is disturbed and he or she wakes up on account of it, the parent should take this seriously. The reason for this is that the pain could be caused by a tumour to the spine or an infection. A possibility apart from these two could also be arthritis.
  • A parent should also be worried when the back pain is not the only thing that the child complains of. That is, if there are other things such as a fever and weakness, as well as pain extending down either or both legs, it could be a sign that the trouble is more than just superficial. In a similar way, when there is trouble walking or there are problems related to the functioning of either the bowel or the bladder, a doctor is to be consulted.
  • One of the most common cases of back pain in children happens to be Scheuermann’s disease, which is also known as Scheuermann’s kyphosis. What this means is that the spine is rounded in the middle. While this causes pain, it is usually not debilitating enough to hinder normal movement. But, after all, who would want their child to go untreated and suffer as a result?

I am suffering back pain. Due to continuous sitting work of office. What is its solution.

I am suffering back pain. Due to continuous sitting work of office. What is its solution.
Hello lybrate-user sir, due to continuous sitting position more pressure will be bared on your back muscles and spine. So maintain proper sitting position (90 - 90) during work and get up from chair and walk one round for every one hour. And do stretching and strengthning of your back muscles daily in the morning. If you do like this your pain will subside with in few days.

Leg PainIf you have leg pain then you have to rule out the casues for having leg pain. First of all check your weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there are no issues with the knee joint or back pain. If not if the pain radiates down the back of thigh and legs then it might be due to sciatica. Kindly consult the nearby physiotherapist. Hope you recover soon from the leg pain. Pain in the back while walking and standing Pain in the right legIf you have leg pain pls check your body weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. My suggestion would be to wear MCR Chappals which will help you to prevent the weight falling on the If you have back pain while walking and standing first of all check your weight and your haemoglobin levels, as Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. And also should check whether you have flat foot on the right leg that also might be the reason to have pain in one particular leg Pain in the left side of the leg/thighThe compression of the sciatic nerve should be around the right side that's the reason you have pain in the left side. That's the reason you cannot sit or stand and it is exactly around the L5 vertebrae where the sciatic nerve passes by.

Try sitting on a soft cushion at work to avoid constant pressure on the coccyx. And try taking a break every hour and walk a little. Ultrasonic treatment at a physiotherapy clinic will give you relief.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. This pain which you are feeling could be due to strain in your biceps because of exertion while gyming. You can start with ice packs at home, gentle anti inflammatory medications, activity restriction like avoid gym till your pain completely subsides, start gradually after pain relief with appropriate pre activity warm up and short increments in daily physical activity. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Neck pain is usually due to muscle sprain. Analgesics will help. Regarding sore throat, physical exam and throat swab is required.

Mother 73/5 ft under RA medication for past 10 days, HCQs 400 mg/d, Omnacortil 5 mg/d, Losar-H daily. Worried about HR toxicity to skip HCQ dosage for a day/week to limit HCQ to 2400 mg/week (her C reactive protein is 17.3 mg, ESR 55 mm, anti-ccp negative, though diabetic, sugar normal 118 and no diabetic medication. Also has knee pain for many years due to osteoarthritis (from uterus removal). Pl advise for HCQ dosage skip.

DM - Rheumatology, MD - General Medicine
Rheumatologist, Mumbai
Hcq is safest drug in rheumatology. Eye toxicity usually happens only after 7-10 years of continued use of above doses. We advice eye check-up once a year only and despite having prescribed it for more than 7 years to thousands of patient, I or even more experienced consultants hardly see any patient with hcq problems. So I would advice to continue. Best wishes. You can look for more information on arthritisrheumindia website.
