Extreme pain in heels. Earlier it was only on my left foot. But now its on both. Uric acid is not very high. Just 1 point more than the normal range. Early mornings the heel pain is terrible and unable to walk. Once in the morning I felt like a crack and heard a cracking noise in my left heel.

It's planter fascists..overweight is one of the causes..u need to reduce the weight along with it u need to avoid walking bare foot..and avoid formal leather shoes for long time if u wear them then shoes should be wide toe in front and be accompanied with silicone heel pads..or wear sports shoes.. ice application can also help..along with it u need to take analgesic.once pain is reduced need to start up stretching exercises...and for uric acid dietary control..

Hello welcome to lybrate. Your knee pain can be due to osteoarthritis, low vitamin d or raised uric acid levels. To start with get the following investigations: x ray both knees ap and lateral views and blood tests fasting: calcium, phosphorous, alkaline phosphatase, vitamin d levels, uric acid and revert back with reports. Learn quadriceps strengthening exercises from a physiotherapist and do then 20 mins 3 times a day. Avoid squatting on the floor or sitting on low chair or indian toilet. Hot fomentation with a rubber bottle will also help.

I did not remember I had got any injury in my back earlier, but now a day I am feeling heavy pain in my back specially in the evening. I am feeling trouble to stand if it is more than 5 minutes and also feeling trouble to carry weights. Please help me.

It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250 mg od & sos x 5 days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, inform.

Kindly show me digital x rays of ls spine. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days bio d3 max 1tab od x10 do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hello sir, no treatment is currently available to stop or reverse any form of muscular dystrophy (md). Instead, certain therapies and medications aim to treat the various problems that result from md and improve the quality of life for patients. These include the following -physical therapy -respiratory therapy -speech therapy -occupational therapy -corrective surgery -drug therapy: his doctor may recommend: corticosteroids, such as prednisone, which can help improve muscle strength and delay the progression of certain types of muscular dystrophy. But prolonged use of these types of drugs can cause weight gain and weaken bones, increasing fracture risk. Heart medications, such as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ace) inhibitors or beta blockers, if muscular dystrophy damages the heart.

Dear lybrateuser, - Take certain precautions to reduce pain in your knees - avoid climbing & coming down stairs, jogging on hard surface - learn exercises to strengthen the muscles & ligaments of the knees & do them regularly - wear proper shoes to reduce the impact on the knees - have a well balanced diet including fruits & vegetables, whole grains, protein foods, milk & milk products for calcium & other minerals, healthy fats - apply pain relief gel three times a day - take pain relief tablet after meals if pain is more - do x- ray knees to rule out bony or any other problem, consult a doctor.

For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

Hi knee pain and backache have various causes for chronic pains and each should be evaluated with x rays/ MRI scans. Yes if deformed knees from long standing arthritis, then abnormal stress to spine is transmitted with secondary changes. Any way, both area causes should be treated. Commonly it's osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease at both places, if arthritis profile blood tests don't show any other form of arthritis. Management is by anti inflammatory drugs, physiotherapy mainly unless advanced stages when corrective surgery is done. So consult an orthopedics surgeon best wishes.

I am 66 years mail. After morning walk my back above hip stiffens to that extent difficult to sit. But after five minutes sitting it is normal. Please advise

Tk muscle relaxant medicine and avoid strain full activity do stretching exercise otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment if you hv no other issue.

You have not mentioned the nature of your job .For backache take yograj guggul 2 tabs twice daily with maharasnadi kwatha 4 tsf with equal amt of water after meals.chew the tablets for better results .plain til taila could be applied on the back .avoid lifting heavy weight and use hard bed for sleeping .Good luck.

Ya please start with strengthing exrcises for the hand without weights. Just tske arm in 1 position nd hold it fr 10-15 secs slowly increase the frequency.

Hip pain ko door krne ka uupaay …………exercise kijiye I hope you feel good………Hip Strengthening – Intermediate Exercises The following intermediate hip strengthening exercises should generally be performed 1 - 3 times per week provided they do not cause or increase pain. Ideally they should not be performed on consecutive days, to allow muscle recovery. As your hip strength improves, the exercises can be progressed by gradually increasing the repetitions, number of sets or resistance of the exercises provided they do not cause or increase pain. Resistance Band Hip Extension Begin this exercise standing at a bench or chair for balance and a resistance band around your ankle as demonstrated (figure 8). Keeping your back and knee straight, slowly take your leg backwards tightening your bottom muscles (gluteals). Perform 3 sets of 10 repetitions as far as possible provided it is pain free.

This could be due to lumbar spondylosis with nerve root compression. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take paracetamol 250mg od & sos you will need other supportive medicines also. Do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you may have to use lumbosacral support for some time. Avoid painful act/activities. Take medicines as prescribed it may have to be further investigated. Do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

Spinal Cord Injury - Signs, Causes & Prevention

A spinal cord injury is a damage to the spinal cord. It’s an extremely serious type of physical trauma that’s likely to have a lasting and significant impact on most aspects of daily life.

The spinal cord is responsible for sending messages from the brain to all parts of the body. It also sends messages from the body to the brain. We are able to perceive pain and move our limbs because of messages sent through the spinal cord.

If the spinal cord sustains an injury, some or all of these impulses may not be able to ‘get through’. The result is a complete or total loss of sensation and mobility below the injury. A spinal cord injury closer to the neck will typically cause paralysis throughout a larger part of the body than one in the lower back area.

Causes-

A spinal cord injury is often the result of an unpredictable accident or violent event. The following can all result in damage to the spinal cord:

  • a violent attack such as a stabbing or a gunshot
  • diving into water that’s too shallow and hitting the bottom
  • trauma during a car accident (specifically, trauma to the face, head and neck region, back, or chest area)
  • falling from a significant height
  • head or spinal injuries during sporting events
  • electrical accidents
  • severe twisting of the middle portion of the torso

Symptoms-

Some symptoms of a spinal cord injury include:

  1. problems walking
  2. loss of control of the bladder or bowels
  3. inability to move the arms or legs
  4. feelings of spreading numbness or tingling in the extremities
  5. unconsciousness
  6. headache
  7. pain, pressure, stiffness in the back or neck area
  8. signs of shock
  9. unnatural positioning of the head

If you suspect that someone has a back or neck injury:

  • Don’t move the injured person – permanent paralysis and other serious complications may result
  • Call 911 or your local emergency medical assistance number
  • Keep the person still
  • Place heavy towels on both sides of the neck or hold the head and neck to prevent them from moving until emergency care arrives
  • Provide basic first aid, such as stopping any bleeding and making the person comfortable, without moving the head or neck

Prevention-

Because spinal cord injuries are often due to unpredictable events, the best you can do is reduce your risk.

 Some risk-reducing measures include:

  1. always wearing a seatbelt while in a car
  2. wearing proper protective gear while playing sports
  3. never diving into water unless you’ve examined it first to make sure it’s deep enough and free of rocks
