I am 66 yrs and felling pain in ribs below the right arm area since 10/5/15. Inspite of this I played badminton on 11/5/15. When I make movement, realise pain mild. Please suggest.

Hello sir tell best sleeping position to avoid back pain and neck pain and for healthy body. And I always sleep on stomach (stomach is touch to bed means in hindi dab ) so tell good position for healthy.

Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Hello, the kind of pain you are complaining does it stays through out the day or it disappears after sometimes (in the morning it subsides) I would suggest you stretch your calf muscle Get a tennis ball and release your calf muscle If you have pain during the walking also at the heel, then please visit physio and get us, dry needling treatment done regards.

Hi, I am from mumbai. I have a query regarding calcium deficiency that generally happens after the age of 30 in people. Now, I trust himalya brand and would like to go for a product from himalya. However, I am confused because of the word fracture in both the products of himalya. Details of the two products are: 1) hadjod --> accelerates fracture healing & increases bone strength. Active constituents: hadjod contains triterpenoids?-sitosterol, quadrangularins a, b and c, and calcium, which influence quick regeneration of connective tissues around the broken bones. 2) reosto --> phytoestrogens in reosto inhibit bone resorption. Indian bdellium (guggulu) helps in the remineralization of bones, increases bone mineral density (bmd) and supports connective tissues. Its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties are beneficial in alleviating bone pain. Now, my query is that under normal circumstances which product should I go for? should I look to increase the bone strength or should I look for increasing bone mineral density? or whether these products are in case of healing after fractures and not for regular consumption. Your help would be very much appreciated.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually to be very honest you do not require any of the above mentioned products. You can just take vitamin d and normal calcium for a period of 3 months. Also regularly do exercises and eat diet which are rich in calcium like milk and milk products. Hello Doctor, I'm 38. Since last 1yr I have problem in the right leg (calf muscles to back of the knee) due to which I am unable to sit down. Took all sorts of treatment but invain. I'm a hypothyroid. Please suggest.

As you have a history of hypothyroidism start taking a good multivitamin&methylcobalamin+neurobion composition. Along with stretching exercises of calf with leg exes+compression therapy. Ankle toe movements &contrast bath will help u more. Can take wellwoman 1 tab daily& nervejin-p 1 tab daily at night after meal. Nervejin may cause some drowsiness so preferred only at night.

I have goy swelling under my knee on the bone. I had had biopsy treatment once. What to do?

Requires detailed examination and investigation. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Hi, fungi are microscopic organisms that can live off the dead tissues of your skin, hair, and nails, much like a mushroom can grow on the bark of a tree. Medication: take schwabe's tellurium 30/ thrice daily for 2 weeks. Management: good personal hygiene helps prevent the spread of ringworm. Teach your child to practice good hygiene and generally not to share combs, brushes, or hats. Children also shouldn't share towels, clothes, or sports equipment that haven't been properly cleaned. Avoid wearing any wet clothes, prefer cotton clothes, keep the area dry and clean. Never use others towels or clothes as well as don't share yours with others.

I have a meniscus tear of my knee. Is there any cure to this or any remedy other than operation as my knee gets blocked and is very painful.

A torn meniscus is like a loose body in the knee. So ideally it should be either fixed or taken out. It's a short procedure and I can assure you that usually you can start walking after 1-2 days of its taken out. If it is repaired/stitched then it takes a long time for recovery. I would suggest you don't waste time and get it done as every time your knee gets locked it causes damage to your knee cartilage.

Hello, there are many causes behind backache *any strain or sprain in the muscles or ligaments of the back during lifting of heavy objects is the main cause of the lower back pain. *sitting in the wrong posture for a very long time is another cause. *people suffering from constipation may also suffer from lower back pain. *sometimes sleeping on wrong type of beds can also cause pain in the back. Follow the tips *take rest or move about once in 1-2 hours in case of working in a constant position. *maintain a good posture while reading or working with computers. *take a high fibre content diet like vegetables, fruits, etc.

I have shoulder pain in the interval of 15-20 days and its stays for the same day till I take rest and also I am unable to throw a ball or a stone with full thrust a normal person should be capable of. It happened when I was playing badminton. I smashed the shuttle eventually a sound was produced from my shoulder. Please advise.

Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days. For further guidance and treatment.

I MET AN ACCIDENT ON 29TH DEC 2014, GOT FRACTURES IN RIGHT LEG. X-RAY REPORT IS" FRACTURE LATERAL MALLEOLUS RIGHT (CLOSED) WITH FRACTURE 2ND & 3RD METATARSAL (CLOSED). INITIALLY, DOCTOR PUT A POP BACK SLAB FOR 15 DAYS AND HAD OPINED FOR CHANCE OF DISLOCATION IN ANKLE INJURY. BUT AFTER 15 DAYS, X RAY SHOWED " GOOD ALIGNMENT, NO DISPLACEMENT". THEN DOCTOR PUT A SYNTHETIC CAST REPLACING POP BACK SLAB AND WILL REVIEW ON 17TH FEB 2015. OCCASIONAL TOLERABLE PAIN IS PERSISTING ALTHOUGH NO PAIN KILLER IS BEING TAKEN AT PRESENT EXCEPT CALCIUM CAPSULE ONCE IN A DAY. I AM NOT PUTTING ANY WEIGHT ON RIGHT LEG AND USING TWO ELBOW CRUTCHES FOR WALKING. MY QUESTIONS ARE.... HOW LONG I HAVE TO PUT THE LEG INSIDE CAST ? IS THE PAIN NORMAL ? IS THERE FURTHER ANY CHANCE OF DISLOCATION OF AFFECTED AREAS UNDER CAST ? WHEN I CAN DRIVE AGAIN ? CAN I JOIN MY OFFICE DUTIES NOW SITTING ON CHAIR ? PLEASE OPINE. MY QUESTION IS..

Initial time for a fracture to get back is min of 4 weeks but your bone wouldnt be ready yet. It takes 6 months for the full recovery of the bone. If you put your wt before the proper "cementing" of the bone tissues it could lead to "bending" or "malalignment" of the part. Suggest you to take ample rest, followed by fresh vegetarian diet (improves healing faster) and just isometric exercises with slight weight bearing during walking. Yes you can work while sitting as long as you are not stressing your leg.
