Hi My son is 5 months old, We had echo test and he have Bicuspid Aortic Valve with normal biventricular function. Is there any chances or possibilities that it will resolve automatically?

Hi My son is 5 months old, We had echo test and he have Bicuspid Aortic Valve with normal biventricular function. Is ...
Bicupsid aortic valves means, that your son was born with two leaflets in the aortic valve instead of the normal 3 leaflets. It cannot resolve, it is just that he will have these 2 leaflets instead of 3. Biscuspid aortic valve is prone to damages and degeneration faster as compared to a normal valve, so you should get him evaluated every 2-3 years with a Echo under the supervision of a cardiologist, so that when the denegration happens it can be detected timely and followed up. Your child can have a normal childhood so do not panic.

Please consult a cardiologist locally to get her evaluated so that it can be understood what is leading to this fluctuation in her BP. Because There could be multiple reasons for this, which will be difficult to assess without proper evaluation.

1) Continue with medications 2) Stop worrying unnecessarily and getting these repeated tests. It will not change your diagnosis, but anxiety will worsen your BP. 3) Alongwith medicines follow lifestyle precautions- Walk daily for 40-45 mins, quit smoking, eat a healthy diet, avoid high salty food like chips, sauces, pickles, avoid drinking too much caffeine. 4) And consult your treating cardiologist from time to time for titration and follow up of your medications.

Two years ago I had angiography at New delhi, who told me nothing to worry -all clear. They prescribed 150 mg aspirin along with rosuvastatin 10 mg daily at bed time& Embeta AM 25 for BP every morning. Last year they again asked me to continue the same medicines. Since my cholesterol is in normal range. Should I continue with statin & 150 mg aspirin daily or should lower the dose. Please advice.

I'm absolutely fit, no sugar or BP .Also we have family history of cardiac arrest, my father had first attack at the age of 44 & he died of heart attack at the age of 54. As of today I have no health issue but as you can see my cholesterol level is not normal. I'm 100% vegetarian, do not consume even an egg. Try to consume as less oil as possible but still cholesterol level is high. What do you suggest? Is the cholesterol level high enough to start statins? How can I lower TLC level?

Since you have a family history of premature coronary artery disease, you have a high risk of developing heart disease and earlier than your peers, So we should aggressively manage your Cholesterol and try and keep LDL levels below 100. In diet, it is important to avoid fried, sugary or high carbohydrate foods. You can have egg white if you want and also lean meat like fish or chicken if you want. Consult a dietician for a detailed diet consult. Exercise daily for 45 mins. And start taking cholesterol control medications. Consult a cardiologist near you, or consult in private for a prescription with lipid profile, RFT and TMT report.

I am a male of 29 years age. I was normal until only two years ago, I unintentionally measured by B.P and it came a little bit on higher side. Then I went to doctor and he also checked my B.P and it came a little on higher side. Then the doctor advised me to go for 24 hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and it came out to be normal but initial readings were high. Then doctor told me that you have white coat effect. I become nervous whenever someone else checks my b.p whether at home or in a clinical setting and my b.p comes out on higher side. But whenever I am alone and I record my B.P on automatic B.P monitor, it comes out to be normal and most of the times below 120/80. But from the last one year I feeling slight tinges near my heart and I feel that that my heart is beating against my chest but not to that extent but when I put my hand near hand, I can feel my heat beating sharply and like against my chest. I did an ECG and it showed left ventricular hypertrophy but showed that it might be some voltage criteria. Then I did an ECHO and it came out to be perfectly normal. But still I feel that there is something wrong with my heart and I continuously feel some tinges in my heart. Doctors first put me on petril beta and then other put me on concor 5 mg along with some anti depressants. Currently the cardiologist has put me on stalopam 5 mg and clonazepam 0.25 mg. That is all. But still I feel that I am not healthy and I always fear that there is something wrong with my heart and that might be due to high bp. Please help me and please tell me that whether automatic bp monitors from which I measure bp at home are accurate or not. Please help me.

These tests tell the condition of the heart at the moment. It is not possible to rule out if blockages are there and whether those blockages are significant with Echo and ECG unless a herat attack has already happened or is happening. A TMT or a Stress Echo has a higher probability of suggestive if there are blockages which may be harmful. So you can get either of tests done if you are over-concerned.

Yes it is time that you should be concerned about what is the actual problem that is causing all these symptoms for your mom. These symptoms can be either due to heart or kidney, but for that we need to get her investigated. You should get the following tests done - RFT, Lipid Profle, LFT, ECG and a good Echo and the consult a cardiologist near you or you can take her to cardiologist and then get a proper evaluation done.

Your BP is in control because of the medication. If this medication is leading to side effects, you can request your treating doctor to change it. There are other medications available as well. Also follow diet precautions and exercise daily for 40-45 mins. Prescribing medication online without seeing your records, as well as Blood pressure trend, will not be a good idea, so consult a cardiologist locally and stay connected with them, because BP medication require titration from time to time.
