Dear User As per your details and reports, your condition can be well managed by conservative measures. Most important point is to correct life style measures. By getting control over lifestyle or habits itself, you can manage or prevent the condition from worsening. You can supplement it with Therapeutic exercises specific for lumbar radiculopathy. For example - SLR, etc. You should consult physiotherapist to get a "tailored" exercise schedule. You should also ensure proper dietary intake of calcium, vitamin D [Most importantly] and proteins. Certain lifestlye measure you can follow - 1) Not lifting heavyweight like flower pots, etc. Take a correct posture while bending. Always squat then flex the torso forward carefully to pick anything from down/floor which will prevent excess pressure over lumbar spine. 2) Use western toilets instead of Indian style. 3) Don't give sudden jerk while starting bike/scooter [if you drive] as it may worsen the condition 4) Sit straight on chair, improve posture while walking/standing. 5) Avoid sitting for long hours, take little breaks [you may take 2 glasses of water prior to sitting, which will urge you to go for urination] 6) You may also wear waist belts which support the back when sitting for long hours is inevitable or pain is slightly more The above measures will surely improve the condition and prevent further deterioration of condition. Walking is a simple activity and it should remain simple. We have forgotten to walk properly since many of us have a desk job. Many of us just shuttle between the bed, car and the desk only. For us walking a mile or so requires too much effort and time. However, it is important that we include walking in our everyday life.

But as we start adding the simplest way of exercise in our daily lives, it is important that we do the same correctly. The proper posture - the proper time and the right attitude is essential.

Proper walking posture is efficient and easy on the body. Poor walking postures can cause early fatigue, discomfort and even injury. Walking properly involves the whole body - from head to toe.

Head: Walk tall, do not lean forward/backward and stand straight.

You don't have to look down. Always look forward, at least 20 feet ahead. The chin should be parallel to the ground and the ears should be directly on your shoulders. Your back should be straight and should not be slouching and walking. Focus on head and whole body will fall in line.

Shoulders: 'Relax ', shrug once and let the shoulders fall back and lift your chest.

If you are stressed, then you might have tight and raised shoulders. It is best to let go of oneself and relax. Let your shoulders fall back and lift your chest. Walk proud and confident.

Arms: 'Swing', it generates extra momentum and increases calorie burning.

Hands should be relaxed. The opposite arm and leg coordination should be there and your arms should be swinging together. Your leg and arm movement ensures that your body is in close coordination with walking. This also helps in building a momentum and opting for an option called power walking - an exceptional way to lose weight.

Core: 'Brace your core'
Core is the muscle group that surrounds the torso or the mid skeleton. It provides stability and should be activated while walking by tightening your abdominal muscles.

Legs: 'Align and level'

Hips should be fairly level, legs should comfortably swing on you stride. Keep your knees tightly bent and do not roll in or out while walking. Your knees must remain properly aligned with the hips and feet.

Feet: 'Flexible'

The heels should strike first with the toes pulled up at 45 degrees. Then roll through the step from head to toe and finally push off with your big toe to move into the next step. Wear flexible shoes as stiff shoes will slap down rather than roll through. Finally, make your walk comfortable and enjoyable.

Focus on one or two points per walk and gradually in few weeks you can master all of the points without having to think about it.

This could be due to excessive strain on your knee cartilage due to running. Get checked by an orthopaedic surgeon nearby and start cartilage protective medicines. Physiotherapy will be helpful.

Do contrast bath, take hot water in one bucket and icecold water in another dip your feet in hot water for 4 min. And then dip in cold water for 2 min repeat at least six to seven times. your shoes shd have a soft sole and you can use silicon heal by putting it inside d shoe under your heal. Do some exs 1 bend your toes and streach, about 10 to 15 times Move your ankle up and down 15 times Rotate your ankle clockwise and anticlock wise 15 times each direction.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder in which the body recognizes the body's own system as foreign and produces an inflammatory reaction. The synovium which is the space between the bones and the joints and contains a lubricating fluid which allows easy movement of the joints.

Inflammation of this space leads to painful, swollen joints that can also turn red and become stiff over a period of time. The joint surfaces can gradually progress to produce deformities (the swan-neck deformity of the hand for instance) and disability.

Because it is an autoimmune disorder, the exact etiology is not known but a lifestyle, stress, cold weather are supposedly predisposing factors. That being the case, it is not surprising that Ayurveda has a variety of options, both in terms of do's and don't be to manage rheumatoid arthritis - both the severity of symptoms and further progression of the disease.

Do's: A well-planned diet will help by supporting optimal functioning of the immune system and nourish the affected joints.

  1. People diagnosed with RA should follow a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables. Drumsticks, bitter gourd, carrot, papaya, green leafy vegetables, etc., reduce inflammation and hyperactivity of the immune system. The antioxidant properties in these neutralize the free radicals circulating in the body (responsible for increasing inflammation). This helps control the longstanding inflammation of the joints. 
  2. It is also advisable to eat them as whole fruits and not as juices. The fiber in the whole fruits helps digestion. 
  3. Sprinkle pepper powder over cooling food items like cucumber and radish (or completely avoid eating such food). 
  4. Include garlic which is an excellent remedy for RA, can be mixed with buttermilk.
  5. Whole grains such as wheat, brown rice, millet, barley are beneficial for RA, their high fiber content helps in proper digestion and promotes regular bowel movements. 
  6. Aged honey mixed with plain water. 
  7. Drink boiled milk to which dry ginger powder is added; this can replace tea and coffee. 
  8. Milk mixed with turmeric powder is also helpful in controlling inflammation. 
  9. Work at reducing weight.

Don'ts: In addition to adding the above to your diet, there are some things to avoid, which can worsen symptoms of inflammation.

  1. Avoid overall unhealthy and irregular diet habits which affects the immune system and aggravates symptoms. 
  2. Avoid sleeping during daytime and staying awake at nights. 
  3. Avoid deep fried foods and fermented food items. 
  4. Given its autoimmune nature, it is better to avoid regular allergy-inducing foods like dairy products, soy, peanuts, processed foods, artificial additives, etc. These could trigger an enhanced allergic reaction
  5. Avoid alcohol, tobacco. 
  6. Avoid tea and coffee and other caffeinated drinks.

With simple daily food habit and lifestyle changes, the severity of RA can be managed effectively.

How To Deal With Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is an orthopedic problem that gives rise to pain in the foot and heel due to strain or pressure on the plantar fascia. This is a ligament or connective tissue which lies in a flat band, connecting your heel with the toes and effectively, providing a basis for the motion of the feet in general. Inflammation, swelling and bruising of this tissue or ligament can lead to excessive pain in the heel.

Let us look at ways that can help you deal with this pain:

  1. Rest: Taking rest and giving your feet a break from all kinds of strain inducing activities can help in relieving the pain. Also, you can keep your feet elevated to help in reducing the pain in the area.
  2. Supportive footwear: Using pads within your shoes with gel built into them, or using specific footwear that helps in walking without feeling too much of pain is a good way of dealing with Plantar fasciitis. The shoe inserts must be rubber, felt or plastic so that they are soft for your feet. They also give your heel and its arch good support, while Orthotics pulls the ligament so that there is less stress on the same. You can also pull on a pair of night flints which will keep the foot and the ligament stretched while you enjoy a good night of sleep.
  3. Exercise: Indulging in mild muscle strengthening exercise that also involves stretching and heel hooks can help in alleviating chronic pain that you may be suffering from. Lie flat on your back and take a towel. Lift your leg and hook your foot into it. Now press against the towel and pull down the towel simultaneously. Repeat at least ten times per foot. This will give you flexibility and strength in the area.
  4. Painkillers: Use pain killers only when absolutely necessary and with due advice from the doctor or Orthopaedic specialist. The use of Ibuprofen and other pain relievers can help in numbing the pain inducing nerves in the brain and give you instant relief.
  5. Anti-inflammatory drugs: Your doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory medication that can bring down the swelling for more comfortable functioning when you are on your feet. Naproxen is one such drug that helps in bringing down the inflammation. Also, corticosteroid injections can relieve severe pain.
  6. Surgery: Heel spur removal or Plantar fascia release are some of the surgical options for chronic and severe cases.

Taking care of your feet is a matter of ensuring that you look into the slightest discomfort and report the same to a doctor.

It's not possible to prescribe Exercises for Snapping Scapular Syndrome (SSS) unless specific diagnosis is confirmed that is, SSS is associated with other co-morbidities, which needs to addressed. In a simple way, you can do Active Range of Motion Exercise for all the planes in a pain free zone. Strenthenig of Rotator cuff muscles and neck muscles will help. Dear Sir, There's nothing to worry about. Your son has hurted his body not following habituation. Ie gradually and slowly increasing weights and giving time to heal, this is major difference between amateur and professional. Now stop all and ask him to take rest, analgesics sos, once everything settle, start again but like a professional.

Go for weight loss minimum 5 kg, more than 50% of your knee pain will get better. Remaining, consult with a Qualified Physiotherapist for Knee evaluation and Exercise program to control knee pain by Strenthening the Knee Muscles. To prevent Uric Acid level get increased, avoid red meat, alcohol, beans, peas, potatoes, okra, rajma etc. Take Apple Cider Vinegar 3 tsp mixed in a full glass of lukewarm water daily. Take Vitamin C tablets 500g (one tab twice daily after meal) Contact your Physician to control Uric Acid by Prescription Drugs. Hope it helps..

Umaji, Thanks for the query. When one is adequate dosage of levothyroxine, TSH is maintained < 3 mU/L, at that level all the troublesome symptoms of hypothyroidism are in complete check. As you are complaining of some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, it is better to check the TSH level. If the level is higher than above mentioned, dosage may have to be increased. Change food habits add in your food vitamines minirales proteins milk end milk products calcium etc. You take calcitrol capsule 1 in morning end 1 in night after lunch end dinner for 15 days than consult me. Massage Myotsol oil on legs in night.
