I am suffering from epilepsy (Right focal epilepsy generalised) for past eight years I am taking torleva XR 500 now got recommendation of zenoxa 450 twice a day. What are my chances that I can recover from epilepsy from any of the medicine (ayurvedic, homoeopathic or allopathy)? I recently got EEG it shows normality but my MRI has a scar inside brain membrane but outside the brain.

BHMS
Homeopath, Noida
For this homeopathic treatment is very effective. Slowly you will see that tendenccy is decreased. Meanwhile follow this-- 1. Take adequate night sleep 2. Eat at regular intervals. As starvation/gas can trigger migrain 3. Avoid things that can trigger migrain. Common triggers include alcohol, caffeine or poor sleep. Inculcate good sleep practices like having a regular bedtime schedule and avoiding naps, caffeine and TV before bedtime. 4. Don't take stress- Pursue an enjoyable activity or verbalising frustration to reduce stress and improve mental health. 5. Avoid foods that you know triggers your migrain. 6. Hot packs and heating pads can relax tense muscles. Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect 7. Drink water. “Dehydration can be a big cause of headaches,” For this homeopathic treatment is very effective For more details you can consult me.

Hello lybrate-user. I am sure your doctors are doing the best they can. This kind of cases cannot be advised for like these. First we need to know the whole condition of the patient and need to look at all the past and current reports. Then we can suggest anything.

Dear user, I can understand. You must understand the difference between ALCOHOL ADDICTION and abuse. You can definitely quit alcohol in one go. Just stop it and swear not to drink again. Engage yourself in games and other engaging activities during evenings or when you feel the urge. Just a week, your habit should change. There are many other methods, which you can see through internet. The best method is what I suggested. Please try it without fail. Take care.

Understanding The Motor & Non-Motor Symptoms Of Parkinson's Disease!

Understanding The Motor & Non-Motor Symptoms Of Parkinson's Disease!

What is Parkinson’s disease?
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive and degenerative disorder of the Central Nervous System that mostly affects older people. It is a chronic disease and the symptoms develop over a period of time. The characteristic symptoms of Parkinson’s are rigidity, shaking, bradykinesia (slowness in movement) and shuffled gait. Anxiety and depression also seem to be common in advanced stages of Parkinson’s disease. In addition to the motor symptoms, the cognitive function of the brain is also compromised.

Degeneration of the nerve cells in the substantia nigra of the brain results in the reduction in production of dopamine which is a neurotransmitter in the brain. Neurotransmitters relay impulses from one nerve to the other. This is what is mainly responsible for the motor symptoms in Parkinson’s. Although, Parkinson’s is not a curable disease, it can be controlled and the progress of the disease can be kept in check with certain medications.

What causes Parkinson’s disease?
The cause of Parkinson’s is mostly idiopathic, i.e. the cause is unknown and is not specific. However, there have been cases which show that it can be attributed to factors such as genetic and environmental factors.

What are the symptoms of Parkinson’s?

The symptoms of Parkinson’s can be classified as Motor symptoms and Non-motor symptoms:

Motor Symptoms

  • Bradykinesia: Slow movement
  • Tremor of limbs
  • Rigidity or stiffness of trunk and limbs
  • Impaired balance and difficulty in coordination or postural instability

Non-motor Symptoms

Parkinson’s disease is not curable, but when detected early, medicines are prescribed to give symptomatic relief. Dopamine substitutes are prescribed to the patient to relieve the motor symptoms.
