In any case involving mixing of body fluids containing viruses can lead to HIV infection if the partner is already having HIV infection.

I was working with N.G.O. For underprivileged children for last one year. Yesterday I came to know one of the children I was interacting with is hiv positive and under treatment. Some more may be suffering. I was not told about this earlier which has put me in immense worry. Whether I should get myself checked .What health hazards I pose if I decide to continue working with them?

If you follow the prescribed universal precautions when dealing with a HIV positive patient then you need not worry. But if you fail to follow then get yourself tested for the infection. For detailed information kindly consult a doctor via online or in person. Thanks.

According to the tests you have mentioned, it's suggestive of a negative result. So don't worry hopefully you are safe. As the P24 came detected intermediately, it might me a false positive report. As all others are negative. So at last, most probably you are HIV negative, but also repeat the test after 6 months of the exposure. Thanks.

ELISA is almost conclusive at 3 months post exposure but for complete conclusion by ELISA you need to repeat the test again after 6 months of exposure. Or you can go for PCR tests for confirmation now as well. Thanks.
