Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is an inherited kidney disorder that causes fluid-filled cysts to form in the kidneys and Polycystic Kidney Disease may impair kidney function and eventually cause kidney failure. Polycystic Kidney Disease is the fourth leading cause of kidney failure and people suffering from Polycystic Kidney Disease may also develop cysts in the liver and other complications. Some of the initial symptoms of Polycystic Kidney Disease include frequent urination, kidney stones, blood in the urine, pain in the sides, pale skin color and joint pain, among others.
HOW IS POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE DIAGNOSED?
Since Polycystic Kidney Disease is an inherited disease, therefore a General Surgeon/Ayurvedic Doctor diagnoses Polycystic Kidney Disease by conducting a complete blood count and examining the medical history of the family. To diagnose Polycystic Kidney Disease, the doctor will perform abdominal ultrasound, abdominal MRI, and intravenous pyelogram to determine the cause of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
HOW IS POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE TREATED?
As there is no treatment or cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease, but some of the effects of the disease on the kidneys can be controlled through internal medicines and further damage to the kidneys averted. If any infections in the urinary tract are noticed, that can also be tackled.
