The tumour that forms on the membrane that covers the brain and spinal cord is known as a meningioma. The signs and symptoms exhibited by these meningioma are headaches, hearing and memory loss, seizures, double or blurry vision and weakness in arms and legs.
HOW IS MENINGIOMA DIAGNOSED?
Scans such as MRIs and CT scans are able to clearly show the growth of these tumours in the brain.
HOW IS MENINGIOMA TREATED?
Treatment of Meningioma depends on the size of tumour and intensity of symptoms. For growing Meningiomas, surgical treatment is often sought after. Radiation therapy is performed by Oncologists in case the meningioma was not removed completely. Other treatment methods are radiosurgery, fractionated radiation and medication.
DID YOU KNOW?
Often complications arise in the surgical procedure because the tumour is not really accessible and thus difficult to take out.
