Acute diarrhea is caused due to viruses common in children and adults. They are three or more watery stools per day. The infection is caused due to consuming contaminated drinks or food. Diarrhea can also occur due to side effects of antibiotics, food allergies, gastrointestinal diseases, etc.
HOW IS ACUTE DIARRHEA DIAGNOSED?
The symptoms include mild fever along with loose bowel movements more than 3-4 times a day. It may happen after every 20-30 minutes. It could lead to dehydration and loss of water and salt in the body. It could be accompanied with abdominal pain and cramps.
HOW IS ACUTE DIARRHEA TREATED?
The essential fluids lost in this condition have to be replaced by fluid and electrolyte supplements. Juices, soups, salt biscuits and plenty of oral rehydration electrolytes, glucose and starch must be introduced in the diet.
