The word enterobiasis describes a kind of pinworm infection that happens in the intestinal area and is rather common. It is most frequently found in children who attend school along with toddlers. Usually there are no symptoms except pain in the abdomen, itching in the area, etc. and the white pinworms are visible through the anus and on diapers too.
HOW IS ENTEROBIASIS DIAGNOSED?
A tape test is the most reliable method for diagnosing a pinworm infection. A tape test consists of taking a piece of cellophane tape and pressing the sticky, adhesive side against the skin around the anus.
HOW IS ENTEROBIASIS TREATED?
Medications such as benzimidazole compounds albendazole (brand names e.g., Albenza, Eskazole, Zentel and Andazol) and mebendazole (brand names e.g., Ovex, Vermox, Antiox and Pripsen) are the most effective in treating the condition.
