HOW IS BLOCKED NOSE DIAGNOSED?
If symptoms are caused by another health condition or the condition is painful, an ENT specialist will perform physical examination focusing on the ears, nose, and throat. The following tests may be done:
• Allergy, skin and blood tests
• Sputum culture
• throat culture
• X-rays of the sinuses
• Chest x-ray
HOW IS BLOCKED NOSE TREATED?
Several home remedies are available for treating temporary blocked noses due to common cold. Inhaling steam helps get rid of congestion. Use of saline water spray for a nasal wash removes the mucus causing blockage. Decongestants may help dry up a stuffy nose. Blocked noses that are caused due to allergies can be treated with antihistamines or anti-inflammatory drugs.
