It could be due to peripheral neuropathy, muscle strain, dehydration, over exertion, compression of nerve as in lumbar stenosis, mineral deficiency (calcium, Magnesium,Potassium), deficiency 0f vitamin B12, medicine like diuretics as in hypertension, ,Diabetes, liver, thyroid disease Treatment 1.Take good nourishing diet with plenty of green leafy vegetables and, fruits 2.Drink plenty of water with electral/ORS powder 3.Take multi vitamin supplement like one capsule of polybion daily 3. Massaging cramped muscle, Take pain killer like one tablet of crocin pain relief sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets per day 4.Hot fomentation by heating pad, warm water bath 5. Stretching exercise etc 6. Take adequate rest, avoid over exertion and dehydration 7.Consult physician for further advice and treatment.

lybrate-user. Being a sport person you need to remain fit. Along with d moves also work on proper muscle length and strength. Take a balanced diet to meet your requirements that will help you to recover faster from wear n tears. Apply ice packs for little finger pain 2-3 times a day. And last but not d least do not forget to visit to a physiotherapist for adequate recovery and proper guidance so dt you can avoid further injury and excel in your field. Thanks.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily ..Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall.. .Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana ? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I have been diagnosed with peripheral neuritis. I do not have diabetes. My hands and feet numb and I tend to fall often what should I do

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I need your detailed history and all relevant investigations because you have mentioned limb symptoms with frequent episodes of falling down as well. It usually happens with a cervical or a brain pathology, but you have been diagnosed as a peripheral neuritis case. Can you please send me your treatment papers and relevant investigations so that I can see and advise accordingly, because if it is peripheral neuritis or a brain issue, then a neurophysician is best doctor for your case. Every time patient comes with the back problem, they ask for instant relief. But they often forgets that analgesic medicine are for short term. And pain is only a symptom not a disease or disorder. Our Approach towards a problem should be appropriated and well directed. It must ADDRESS the origin of pain that is cause of pain. I suggest you to go to a Good Physiotherapy Clinic. Use protective goggles while driving and use andreplus eyedrops twice or thrice a day. For back problem consult a bone specialist.

I am 49 years, when ever I happen to speak to my team or the group or I have to attend any meetings I get nervous and at that moment a sever pain starts from my lower back till the neck it is the spine chilling pain which is very severe and it for few seconds when I take long breath and wait for few seconds it goes off need to know the reason behind it.

This is because of anxiety. Relax. Take few deep breaths before you start speaking. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Very important never stop avoiding overhead activities this may worsen the condition. You can first apply some ice packs around the shoulder joint then go for a proper streching of shoulder muscles and start using your shoulder joint to swing front and back and side ways and even in circular movements. Make your spine bend forward and start doing the above.

Back pain can result from bad posture, a sudden jerky movement, a lumpy mattress or poor lifting techniques. It can also be caused by injury in a work place, by a sports accident or by muscular spasm. There are also many diseases and pathological conditions that can lead to back pain. These include abdominal or pelvic disease, anxiety, arthritis, cervical or lumbar spondylosis, dermatological problems, kidney disease, rheumatic conditions, tumours and scoliosis. Our modern, sedentary lifestyles have a profound effect on the development of back pain; indeed one of the most effective ways of preventing it is simply to stay active. An average adult in the India spends at least two hours a day in front of a computer screen or television set, and back problems can be triggered if they don’t sit properly. In an age of mobile phones and computer games, such troubles are increasingly inflicting children of school age as well. Top tips for back care: For back pain, better to see your Doctor sooner than later. Take regular exercise – your Doctor can say what’s right for you. Hours in one position can cause problems – avoid computer ‘hump’. During repetitive tasks, vary your rhythm and take frequent breaks. Adjust car seats and on long journeys, take regular breaks to stretch. Pace yourself with heavy work such as gardening – don’t risk a disc! Watch children’s posture – they shouldn’t carry bags on one shoulder or spend too long at a computer without breaks. Avoid strain when lifting, particularly small children and shopping. Your bed could be part of the problem. Seek Doctor advice on choosing a new one. Take a hot bath or shower, soaking in a hot tub, or using a heating pad, hot water bottle, or heat wrap that provides continuous, low-level heat are all ways to bring healing warmth to your lower back.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are experiencing inflammation at site of attachment of tendo-achilles. My advise is: - intensive ice packs 3-4 times in a day at home - try restrict your physical activity till your inflammation goes down - take an anti inflammatory medication for 5-7 days whichever suits your bode - wear well cushioned sports shoes for ambulation - intensive physical therapy, initially with modalities and then exercises, gradual training of muscles and short increments per day. My friend has a neck pain and took all the prescriptions given by the doctor but neck pain is still there he works in night shift! is that a reason?

Massage prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your neck with light hand. Then give hot formentation. Take yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day after lunch and dinner. Take 2-2 tsf maharasnadi kwath two times a day. Sleep on flat surface. Avoid soft pillows. Do neck exercises regularly. Use cervical collar band minimum for 1 hour in a day. 1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep. Avoid coffee. Tea. Fermented food. Spicy food. Junk food.

Hello, please ask her to follow the below medication:- 1. Take phytolacca berry tablets (wsi), 2 tablets with warm water, three times a day, half an hour before meals. 2. Fatoline drops from haslab, 15 drops + 1/2 cup of warm water, twice a day. 3. Take 1 glass of luke warm water with lemon juice and honey in the morning for 15 days in a month. 4. Take 1 cup of green tea in the evening daily. Revert after 1 month.

I assume you are talking about muscle cramps in your calf muscles. You can start taking Vit E tab (like Tab Evion LC), once daily (for a month minimum), along with a pain-killer tablet which suits you. I can advise you Tab Voveron SR 75 mg twice daily after food, along with Tab Pan 40 once daily before breakfast (both to be taken for 3-4 days). Along with these medication you can start exercises in form of calf muscle streching and knee and ankle movement exercises (or can consult a physiotherapists). Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching towel hamstring stretch lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated hamstring stretch while sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds repeat 3 times for each leg.

I have pain in both my elbows for several years now though it does not bother me much but it is there I find it coming mostly during cold and when exposed to ac and fan please advise.

It requires detailed investigation and examination. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

How old are you? Postural hypotension is a common condition that results from getting up suddenly from during our lying down position. Usually occurs in older ages. Have lot of fluids. Check your hemoglobin levels.
