As a practitioner of natural medicine, I specialize in research and practice of naturopathic/ integrative oncology. I am currently focused on treatment of advanced and intractable malignancies through complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) that are safe and effective. Besides cancers, I also treat pre-cancerous syndromes like neurofibromatosis and other chronic and debilitating ailments of auto-immune origin like rheumatoid arthritis, thyroiditis etc all. My ongoing post-doctoral research on 'Integrative Oncology' (A.M) includes cancers of the gastro-intestinal (GI) tract, oral cavity, ovary, breast and lungs. Stress Management counselling is integral to my work with cancer patients, caregivers and others that helps them cope and improve their quality of life both at home and at work. I take a well researched, holistic and integrated approach to fast track treatment and recovery. Additionally, I also integrate my treatment with that of conventional care physicians, as contextually necessary, to facilitate an appropriate naturopathic/ integrative oncology prescription at my end.     Alternative Medicine Specialist
    Constipation is often caused owing to a faulty diet, irregular lifestyle and also mental stress. Following are a few steps that shall help prevent/ arrest this naturally.

    (a) eat mostly a simple & natural plant based diet consisting mostly of whole grain cereals, leafy greens and fresh fruits/ dry fruits including mango, grapes, papaya, tomato, cucumber, pears, guava, gooseberry, fig, apple, raisins etc as suitable.

    (b) note that although fibrous fruits & vegetables are good in general, a highly fibrous diet may complicate the issue especially when the underlying reason for constipation is intestinal blockage/obstruction or inflammation owing to jejunitis et al.

    (c) make sure to chew your food properly, and avoid drinking water intermittently while eating.

    (d) eat less of fatty, oily, greasy & flesh foods. Restrict tea, coffee and sweet food stuff including sweetened carbonated beverages or packaged juices.

    (e) drink at least 8 - 10 glasses of water daily unless advised by your physician otherwise.

    (f) exercise daily for at least 30 to 45 minutes. Brisk walking outside in fresh air is the best and safest exercise unless you have joint issues or other health problems that prohibit you from doing so.

    (g) in case, your job is a sedentary one, it is advisable that you take regular breaks from work and walk around a little for about 5 minutes or so, free yourself and then resume work.

    (h) abdominal massage, daily, either by you yourself or by a trained masseur helps not only tone up the abdominal muscles but also facilitate intestinal peristalsis thereby aiding empty bowels.

    (i) sitting in vajrasana post meals/dinner aid digestion and in the process help get over the constipation issue too.

    (j) avoid frequent use of purgatives/laxatives. Use them sos only.

    (k) reduce mental stress/ strain, do relaxation exercises including yoga and meditation daily. It is important that you streamline your lifestyle not only at home but also at work. This in itself takes away a load of unnecessary stress off you.
