Benefits of an antioxidant-rich diet!
Let me start with an example! imagine a brand new car. It would have good engines, good wheels-good grip; everything one could ask for. Now imagine that car after a good 7to 8 years. The engine battery would be sluggish, the grip on the tyres would be poor! all in all, a lot of wear and tear. Coming to the point quickly, when non-living objects get subjected to so much wear and tear, imagine what our body would be going through! with time, the body gets subjected to a lot of degeneration changes. These manifest everywhere. Yes! everywhere including the eyes. The degeneration occurs principally through substances known as free radicals. These free radicals need to be controlled. How? the answer, my friend, is antioxidants! antioxidant substances help in scavenging (eating up) these free radicals. Antioxidants are the good guys whereas free radicals are the bad guys.
Now, the question commonly asked is 'doc, what is an antioxidant rich diet' simple! there are so many substances rich in antioxidants! to begin with, take green leafy vegetables including spinach, sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, ginger, beetroots and chilli as well!
Other than that, you have berries, kiwi fruit, guava, orange, pomegranate, orange, pineapple and plums!
Even dry fruits are a rich source of antioxidants. The best ones are almonds, walnuts, pecans, dates, peanuts and hazelnuts!
Last but not the least, ensure sufficient quantity of oats, barley, corn and millets!
To summarise, a strong defence mechanism goes a long way. Be it a country or be it a body, both need good defence! for the body, antioxidants are the right answer! live healthy!
