Life is constant game of changes and people who can adapt to it and move on generally tend to find their pockets of happiness. From bad finances to lack of love to a near ones loss, each of us constantly face struggles that can leave us drained and depressed. People often work on these external factors to find their happiness. Those who suffer from depression as an illness though find it taking over multiple spheres of their lives disabling them from doing routine tasks with ease. Depression, like other diseases, can also have a biological origin.

Several theories concerning the biologically based cause of depression have been suggested over the years. Simply put, chemical imbalance in the brain can be a trigger to depression. As the'command center' of our body, the brain uses a number of chemicals as messengers to communicate with other parts of itself and with the nervous system. These chemical messengers, called neurotransmitters are released and received by the brain's nerve cells called neurons. Neurons are constantly communicating with each other by way of exchanging neurotransmitters. This communication system is essential to all of the brain's functions.

Among the biological causes of depression, the most prominent and widely researched is the monoamine hypothesis. The three main monomine triggers of imbalances that trigger depression are neurotransmitters called serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. Serotonin regulates functions like sleep, aggression, eating, sexual behavior, and mood. Similarly, the catecholamine hypothesis suggests that a deficiency of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine (also known as noradrenaline) in certain areas of the brain was responsible for creating depressed mood. Norepinephrine helps our bodies to recognize and respond to stressful situations.

Dopamine plays in important role in helping each of us seek out our'high' or'pleasure' from rewards. Low dopamine levels may in part explain why depressed people don't derive the same sense of pleasure out of activities or people that they did before becoming depressed.

Another leading cause of clinical depression is focused on the endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for making hormones and releasing them into the blood to regulate processes like reaction to stress and sexual development. Hormonal irregularities may lead to depressive symptoms like loss of appetite and sleep. It is further observed that those who have particular endocrine disorders sometimes develop depression, and some individuals who are depressed develop endocrine problems despite having healthy glands.

In a research done among depressed individuals, over half had a hormone called cortisol in excess in their body and abnormal times of secretion.

Depression can have many triggers and origins and it is important to see the right doctor who can treat the cause, triggers and symptoms in addition to the disease. Depression has a genetic predisposition. Also, the faulty thought pattern alters the physiology by upsetting the hormonal balance. Psychological professional help should be a priority in depression and its role should not be under emphasized.

3 simple steps that can reduce your anxiety!

    1. Let go

Anxiety is futuristic. It is a fear oranticipationof a negative or an unwanted outcome or happening. Accept that the outcome of an action or life events are not in your hand! just let go of your psychological struggle of evading the negative outcome! that is causing this sweating and the altered pulse rate. Be conscious of the fact that how fear hasconstrictedandclosedyou!

    2. Build trust.

Anxiety is animagined unpleasant future incident, which may or may not happen. But surely is crippling you now.

Be aware that this imagination is causing the body to release stress hormones like cortisone even when there is none! even when there is an unfavorable event, do not put a full stop! the river always flows, if there is a huge rock. It either passes through it or diverts across it.

    There is no dead end!

Trust destiny, it will take you where it intends to!

    3. Stop mentally running after the cure.

Anxiety is the product of faulty thought pattern. It tells you that something bad may happen, it also tells you to run, run to pursue a non-anxiety state!

It's a vicious circle. Just stop! be with what you are and do not wrestle (psychologically) to fly to the opposite state, this is what is giving momentum to your anxiety.

You are about to go on stage to face an audience. Palms sweaty, heart racing and a fear gripping your in such a way that your feet or tongue refuse to move? relax. You are having a bout of stage fright. The first and most comforting thing to know is that the biggest and most popular performers and speakers also go through a bout of nervousness before their big show. And yet, when you see them on stage, you'll not detect an ounce of it. You can be that person too.

Why do you experience stage fright? being the center of attention among an audience focused only on you can trigger thoughts of a bad or unconvincing performance resulting in loss of reputation, mockery and a perception of failure. The physical response your body has to this is called" fight or flight" syndrome which is a natural process designed to protect you. So how do you face the situation and get better of it? here are a few steps to get you there:

Self-hypnosis / hypnotherapy for stage fright: imagine if you believed that you are a master public speaker and can feel calm and confident during every performance! a self-hypnosis or hypnortherapy session allows you to reach out into the recesses of your subconscious mind and harness its power to handle stressful situations like a stage performance. You may have heard the common adage of - you are what you believe; and this therapy proves it. The process will help you visualize your actual performance and link it with positive, encouraging and enjoyable images which will replace your anxiety with confidence. You can either visit a consultant or buy a cd online.

Nlp (neuro linguistic programming) for stage fright: nlp was created in the 1970s by richard bandler and john grinder in california as a connection between neurological process, linguistic and behavioural patterns learnt through experience or programming. Nlp claims to cure everything from phobias to depression to even the common cold. Though not scientifically proven, nlp uses a set of mental exercises to allow you to change your perception and blockages and hesitation into positive actions. Similar to hypnosis, it'll allow you to program yourself to believe and practice for a positive outcome in order to achieve it.

Add the wow factor: anyone giving you their time deserves to leave with a'wow. Add facts, figures or moves that'll give them that. Add'your' touch and style to it.

Communication is the key for a successful relationship and both partners must ensure that they discuss not just their feelings, but their problems as well with each other. Sexual disorders are one of the most common and least discussed disorders. While there are a number of forums, it is to be borne in mind that these are complex issues and include various components, such as psychological, social, physiological, and emotional. It is difficult to say that what caused impotence in one person or what worked for one person will work for all.

As much as it may not seem very pleasant, the best way to manage is to have a frank talk, both with the partner and with the doctor. Let us first look at impotence briefly. Whether erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation or ejaculatory impotence, it affects the ability to enjoy normal sexual activity and the relationship is affected. With detailed discussions, most often there is a strong past history that emerges. This could be broken relationships in the past, distrust with partner's, past sexual abuse, leading to a mix of fear, guilt and anger.

This can play a deep submerged role during current acts leading to reduced pleasure. A detailed discussion should delve deep into such issues and counselling is often required. It is also important to identify any associated causes like smoking, diabetes, trauma, or other diseases. A detailed drug history is also required in most cases to elicit the exact reason.

Patients who have a psychological component are benefited greatly by counseling. It is important to involve the partner also in these sessions because it is a couple that is being treated, never an individual. Altering medications and treating the associated disorders also improve performance.

Frigidity is very less talked about, women who are not able to be aroused, cannot achieve orgasm, or do not enjoy sex are generally group under this condition. More often than not, female sexual issues have a very strong emotional or psychological component than the male issues. Medications are almost always the last resort to manage these. Sexual abuse, past disappointments, fear of failure, fear of not being able to satisfy the partner, fear of pregnancy, fear of getting hurt during sex, and various other reasons lead to frigidity in females.

There could be some cases where there are anatomical reasons leading to frigidity like malfunctioning endocrine glands and vaginal muscle spasms. These are very rare and also disappear with thorough counseling.

Be it the male or the female who is affected, the relationship for sure suffers. To strengthen the relationship, it is very important to have a heartfelt talk and work on the issue. For all you know, sometimes, it may be something that can be sorted out in just a couple of weeks.

Smoking is a die hard habit and many people eventually die of the same. It remains one of the most common causes of cancer and lung diseases, which eventually lead to death. The irony is that almost all smokers know the harmful effects, but find it hard to quit. With a firm determination, there are people who quit, but then the relapse rate is quite high too.
Many believe that quitting requires a behavioural change. From peer pressure to a lifestyle habit, smoking is a social phenomenon. There are various methods to help quit smoking like quitting cold turkey and nicotine substitutes. Hypnosis is also gaining popularity as a method to help quit smoking. Research has shown an encouraging success rate in the range of 30 to 40% in cases where the desire and commitment to quit are high. This of course is with people who have strong will and are able to be hypnotized.
Hypnosis or hypnotherapy is a psychological technique used as supplemental therapy in a lot of cases, such as weight loss, depression, speech disorders, pain management, de-addiction; the list can be quite long. It puts the person undergoing therapy into a deep sleep or trance, where they get in touch with themselves and find answers to a lot of questions. It is believed that while hypnosis puts a person to sleep, it also induces a higher level of cognition and a higher level of neurological activity.
'During the actual session, the smoker is asked to imagine the numerous ill effects of smoking and the need to reduce its harmful effects on the body. This improves the willpower to quit smoking and reduces the desire. They are also advised of the benefits of quitting smoking, including longevity of life and better quality of life. The person is told that quitting smoking before 50 years of age gives a 50% chance of increasing the lifespan by 15 years. Now that is quite motivating for a lot of smokers to give up the habit.
It generally takes about 4 full sessions of hypnotherapy to reach a level where the patient is ready to kick the habits. Also, self hypnosis can be taught where the person can go into hypnosis on his own and enforce smoking cessation. There are even self hypnosis tapes that are available for aid.
However, a word of caution here, hypnosis is not for everybody as not everybody can be hypnotized easily and there has to be a strong belief that it will benefit, only then can smoking cessation be tried with hypnosis. It is still in the testing phase and is to be medically proven as a way to quit smoking.

Jumping at the sight of a cockroach is normal, but some people won't even step into the room if they see one. Such people are said to suffer from a phobia of cockroaches. A phobia can be defined as the irrational fear of an object or situation, though it may not pose any real danger. A phobia often develops during childhood and gets aggravated as the person gets older.

Hypnotherapy has proven to be an effective form of treatment for phobias and fear. Hypnosis identifies the root cause or event that is the underlying cause of the phobia. A Hypnotherapist then attempts to change the person's reaction to the phobia trigger.

Some common phobias Hypnotherapists deal with are:
    - Fear of heights
    - Claustrophobia
    - Fear of insects and small animals
    - Fear of flying
    - Fear of technology

To do this a Hypnotherapist must ensure that the mind of the person is in a calm and relax state. This is because the root cause of a phobia is often a repressed memory. Thus, it can be accessed only when a person is in a state of heightened relaxation or trance. In this state, the mind is very receptive to suggestions. Once the memory has been addressed, it can be brought back to the conscious awareness. Addressing this conscious memory allows the therapist to make the patient feel less threatened by this trigger. The patient can then begin to form new thoughts and responses to the object or situation. This process is also known as Hypnotic regression.

A person normally needs 3-4 sessions of Hypnotherapy to be rid of a phobia. However, the number of sessions required varies from person to person and it may take additional sessions to cure a chronic phobia.

No. of sessions required depends on a number of factors such as:
    - How long the person has had the said phobia
    - His personality
    - How severely his life is affected by the phobia
    - How determined he is to free himself of the phobia

When you decide to work with a Hypnotherapist to get rid of your phobias, it is essential that you make the right choice in terms of the Hypnotherapist. You should ensure that you are being treated by a licensed professional Hypnotherapist. Also, make sure that you can trust the person and are comfortable in his or her presence. Take your time finding someone who you can open yourself up to and get started on conquering your fears.

Smoking is a habit which has always been found illogical by the author. Tobacco acts as amind-stimulant but does not gives a proper high like alcohol and other soft drugs.
There is a false sense of calming which is erroneously associated with smoking, whereas in actuality smoking increases anxiety.
The suggestion that it relieves stress is a false auto-suggestion as on the contrary it increases stress by elevating blood pressure and nicotine dependency seems to exacerbate stress. This stress of nicotine dependence seem to be relieved by the next cigarette.
So its funny that one creates stress by nicotine dependency and seem to relieve it by smoking

    Smoking cessation exercise;
All habits are unconscious. So try being conscious of your smoking habit.
Whenever you smoke, just do it with all your senses alert.

Right from pulling out a cigarette from the box watching the picture of smokers lungs on the box. Feeling it between your fingers to putting it between the lips, be aware of the smell of tobacco. Watch yourself lighting it and the grey colored smoke entering your mouth touching and passing by the oral tissues to your air pipe to lastly filling your lungs. Make an internal picture of your pharynx and lungs filled with smoke (at this point, you may watch the picture of lungs again).

Pay attention to all other feelings including dryness/coughing/ or any other body changes.

This way the brain is programmed to sub-consciously associate smoking with the deletrious effects on the body and will suggest itself to quit to get rid of these undesirable effects which are now stored in memory with this conscious exercise.
Hypnotherapy aids and magnifies the impact of this exercise and helps to break the pattern of rigid smoking pattern.

Finally you are advised not to judge yourself everyday, and be patient to let the habit go on its own quite miraculously! till then smoke and fill your lungs with it but consciously!

She is looking at the clock repeatedly, feeling more and more frustrated as the time passes as how it is getting late and her effort to sleep is going in vain.

Effort? can anyone put an effort for something which is a self programmed function of the body -mind complex?

Does one put an effort to breathe, make the heart beat or digest food?

Try doing this at home. Try putting a conscious effort to digest your food, be aware of it entering the food pipe and the stomach and then liver metabolizing it. You will end up with indigestion!

Effort is interfering instead with something which is automatic!

So your struggle to sleep is the biggest reason why you are unable to sleep!

    Do not try to sleep

One should have courage to wait for the body to tune itself back during a temporary phase of insomnia due to some stressful/emotionally challenging situation.

One's continued stressful approach in life or excessive seeking for stimulation all the time may have finally resulted in the overworked nervous system being so stressed that it now has difficulty in tuning itself off.

There are people who have not slept at all in their entire lives, but there daily activities are not hampered at all, so

Get rid of these conditioning that shortage of sleep will have an ill effect on the body, though difficult, if you let go of this you will be happily surprised to know that this conditioning or belief was creating most of the bodily symptoms!

Chronic insomnia which has developed after a traumatic emotional experience may need a help from a professional like counselor or a hypnotherapist.

Sedatives decrease the brain activity by depressing the c. N. S, making one lethargic /drowsy with reduced mental efficiency and host of other side effects.

The induced sleep is more of non rem type (rem is supposed to be a deeper and moe refreshing phase)
Drug resistance develops soon and the dose gradually increases and so does the dependance and its withdrawal symptoms. And finally one must realize that they are not the cure
So it is better to take them as as a one-off thing, at times of acute distress or urgent need to sleep.

Some other tips which are of secondary help.

    1. Do not keep a clock/watch with you in your bed room.
    2. Avoid heavy dinner or supper, keep your digestion in check.
    3. Do not immediately go to sleep after dinner.
    4. Avoid caffeine based drinks esp coffee or if you must have it, take it before evening.
    5. Try putting off gadgets like mobiles, t. V, games, magazines etc.

Lastly in a nutshell, do not get overworked if there is reduced or delayed sleep, that will act as a stressor which will prevents sleep, have the courage so as to not to sleep at all. Do not anticipate tomorrows after-effects. Surrender to the intelligence of your body, it will take care of it.

Some thousand or million years back, the self individualization happened in man, giving birth to the capital I.  And with that there was birth of love, relationship, ambition, religion, insecurity, soul, hole, whole, culture, god, pleasure, seeking, ideals & perpetuating misery !

Through the help of the knowledge of what is living and what is not, I can state that I am alive & my body is living right now as I right this piece. There are trillions of cells in this living body working so intelligently ,precisely synchronizing and co-operating with the neighboring, adjacent cell with the sole purpose of its own SURVIVAL and not for some grand purpose .

All life forms in nature exhibit the same, the innate intelligence for survival and reproduction. There is no ideal behavior , there is just ACTION, action emanating from the innate intelligence.

Culture  is a central concept in defining what it means to be human in anthropology, the shared ideas, ideals and knowledge passed on and thrust ed upon by the society on the 'individual' to behave in a certain way to maintain its  status quo.LOVE and religion was such an invention , seeking a certain behavior from an individual in a society.

Love makes the world go round, Love thy neighbor as thy selves , Love is godand similar religious platitudes and romantic idioms were floated to let man pursue an ideal state manufactured by the culture and the society to keep its foundation intact. The pursuit or an effort to be loving implies that there is actually no love as it is !!

Can  an ''individual '' ever love? the self  is an isolated  identity , apparently divorced  from the oneness of life and life form... all the actions emanating from "I" are self centric with the agenda of self interest..'I' will always be up against' you' . The overlapping self interest is THE BASIS OF  relationship, the more the overlap,  the more successful the relation.

In a relationship axis each one involved wants something from the relationship & that something which may be money, sex, emotional support, comfort of a family etc is what keeps one interested , involved & related. The sooner one realizes it, the better it is!Striving to be loving, seeking unconditional love , expecting other to be doing the same is the start of the misery!

All the  wars & bloodshed were done  and will be done in the name of love ,god and peace.
All human actions are the product of thought, and thought has its source in self and there is no thought without wanting, My wanting and Your wanting , all I can hope is that they have a contact point, not like the ships passing by in different directions in the middle of the sea.

Personality clashes are essentially.... My genes vs Your genes and genes seldom mutate!!Though seemingly a threat to the foundation of society, It is interesting if Selfishness is promoted, which is a living truth, things would be much better.....no conflict of self centric identity pursuing an fictitious state of selflessness nor expecting it from the other.

SELF CAN NEVER PRACTICE SELFLESSNESS!!And if by some strange and improbable luck , the self extinguishes itself, there will be no talk of LOVE. Its the man who can never love , who talks and preaching it     As long as one is trying to be loving he will be hateful!

The words spun around the core word LOVE have given birth to romantic poetry and other arts and has also created 'mass manipulation'.  Because I love you........If the aces and kings have failed , Love  is the last joker card, card which can win you the deal, to make other do what you wish him to do!

I am reminded of the PINK FLOYD song ,pigs on the wings with my relative interpretation(as it is always) and slight modification of lyrics!if you didn't care , what happened to meand i didn't care  for you, and we would zigzag our way through boredom& pain......
    and the second part
you know that i care what happens to you,and i know that you care for me too!!!!
two parallel lines,   that's what two different individualized  entities are &  the narrative changes on the condition of the other changing !

    om selfish namoh!
