I am 21 years and 6 feet, 51 kgs. I'm suffering with malnutrition I tried many things to be hygienic but I can't getting it. I'm the only the skinny person in my family and I don't eat curd much as it is the one of the common south india food and my body temperature is more than normal body temperature. Gaining weight is as difficult as losing it, if you are naturally thin. Skinny people complain that they can't put on any weight.If you want to build up weight, don't just eat high-calorie junk foods and rely on unnecessary supplements. Choose foods that are energy-dense and nutrient-dense whenever possible. Following are some tips to follow to increase your weight. You will take some time to gain the weight you need, but be patient. 1. If you have a rapid metabolism, then you must increase your daily intake of healthy foods (increase your intake of carbohydrates) to compensate for the rate at which you burn energy. Eat six smaller meals a day You should also eat more energy dense foods like healthy oils, dry fruits, seeds, nuts, pulses, etc. along with some starchy foods like potatoes, cereals, bread, pasta, rice, etc. 2. Consume more calories than you burn. Choose healthy calorie-dense food to add calories. Drink healthy beverages to add calories. Mangoes are rich in calories and carbohydrates, include them in your diet. 3. Eat healthy food frequently, 5-6 times a day - 3 larger meals and 3 smaller meals alternately. Separate them by at least 3 hours so you can digest each meal fully. Don't go without food for 5-6 hours after having a major meal. For example, if you wish to consume 3000 calories a day, you may eat 3 larger meals of about 650 calories and 3 smaller meals of about 450 calories. 4. Have a balanced diet. 5. Exercise regularly for putting on weight. Some thin people think that exercise is not good for them. This is not true, it keeps the metabolism high. Remember that eating alone is not sufficient. You don't want to gain fat but lean mass, so exercise is important. Resistance training exercises will help to increase your muscle mass, which in turn will increase metabolism. Learn to distinguish between weight gaining exercises and weight loss exercises. Note that if you do not get enough amino acids during exercise, the existing muscle may break down. Amino acids come from protein foods so you should eat such foods after exercise. Keep in mind that excessive exercise without putting back the energy you have used will not help you to put on weight. Chart Of Foods For Gaining Weight Following is a list of weight gain foods. 6. Protein is the key for the muscle building. Without adequate protein, muscle gain and growth is not possible because weight training demands for amino acids (which comes from protein). You should daily eat about 2.2g of protein per kilogram of your weight. For example, if you are 50kg , then you should eat 50x2.2=111g of protein spread over 5-6 meals in the day. Include high protein foods in your diet. Your protein intake should be from foods rather than from supplements. Good protein foods: beans,soybeans, whey, fish, dairy products (low fat variety), meats, nuts and seeds (almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds), peanut butter. Many of these are easy digestible foods. Milk is one of the best muscle foods. The milk contains two high quality proteins, about 80 percent whey and 20 percent casein. Whey is quickly broken down into amino acids and absorbed into the bloodstream. Whey is very good to consume after workout. Casein is digested more slowly and provides the body with a steady supply of protein for a longer period of time. Cheese is concentrated milk, so it is high in protein and calcium, fat and cholesterol. Include healthy skim yogurt in your diet, which can give you as much as 120 calories. 7. Eat custard apple (Saripa, Sitaphal) to put on some weight. This fruit is high in calorie. 8. Healthy fats: Avoid fatty foods. Most mothers, especially in India give too much ghee or butter to their children, thinking they will put flesh fast. But ghee is mostly saturated fat which is not a healthy fat for any body. Healthy fats are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. Good fats: cold pressed oils (olive, sunflower, linseed, canola ). 9. Drink pure fruit juice. It is full of sugar and added nutrients so it is a healthy and nutritious way to gain some pounds. 10. Complex carbohydrates are also needed for gaining weight.. Corn bread is also full of carbohydrates, one piece gives approximately 328 calories. Potatoes are rich sources of carbohydrates and complex sugars, eat baked or as grilled potatoes. Pasta is a calorie rich cereal carbohydrates. 11. Eat bananas. These are rich in carbs and nutritious, one banana contains approximately 100 calories. 12. Some people think that drinking beer helps, but it is not true, it accumulates in your abdomen, making it fatty. 13. Don't take protein supplements for gaining muscles. Consult your doctor for protein supplements. 14. Non Vegetarian Foods Some of the non-vegetarian foods that help increase weight are given below: 1. Red Meat lean ground beef, lean steaks. 2. Pork, ham, lamb 3. Fish: Eat two portions of salmon, cod, or tuna every day. 4. Shrimps: The nutrients and necessary acid content present in shrimps gives healthy calories. 5. Turkey 6. Chicken breast Chicken breast, is supposed to be the healthiest and non-fat part which has approximately 78 calories for each serving. 7. Whole eggs: Eggs are loaded with protein, vitamins A,D and E. ________________________________________

Hello sir, I agreed with the lybrate-user. Kalyani's advice but I want to add one more important point in that and thats 1) try to avoid long standing position as much as possible 2) use the compession stockings 3) use the pneumetic compressive therapy if available at your near by physio centre.

Take 3 cup green tea daily (jasmine flavour). Have diet rich in fruits vegetable salads & multigrain aata roti avoid rice, deserts, and fried stuffed. Drink 2-3 liters water in a day.

Hi, I think you are having'frey syndrome' it is a condition in which itching and redness develops on the cheek after eating certain foodstuffs like spicy food, tomatoes, flavoured snacks, candies, lollipops, tangy or sour foods. It is generally considered harmless and not an allergy as such, but there is no real effective treatment. Try to avoid those foodstuffs if possible.

Lantus is a basal insulin which means it gives a fairly same level of control over approximately 24 hrs. Ryzodeg is a combination of aspart which acts quickly to control your post meal sugar, and degludec which acts over 24 hrs. Its in a fixed combination (30/70) so any change in the total dose will compulsorily change both the components in the same proportion causing hypo or hyperglycemia. Are you a type 1 diabetic? because in that case its better not to take the premixed ryzodeg. Rather lantus with separate doses of aspart before meals will be better.

To gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects

If you change your lifestyle and food habit you can loose your extra weight if you don't have any other health issues. Regular exercise like swimming, skipping, plank, push ups, sit ups, yoga. Use lukewarm water with lemon juice on an empty stomach in the morning. Avoid sugar, sweetened juice. Avoid fast foods, junk foods, processed foods instead you take lots of vegetables, whole fruit, unrefined food stuffs. These will help you to reduce fat. Take more protein like egg white, fish, lean meat, cottage cheese, soy milk, soy products, skimmed milk, tofu, mushroom. Don't use too much oil in cooking. Drink lots of water specially before meals. Drink lukewarm water 5 mins after meals. Avoid smoking, alcohol. Take proper rest.

Okay Ravi..Do regular exercise like yoga,swimming,skipping,push ups,sit ups,plank,squat.Avoid sugar,sweetened juice.Avoid fast foods,junk foods,processed foods.Eat more whole fruits,vegetables,unprocessed foods.Take whole wheat,whole grain,brown rice,brown bread.Eat small amount of food.Take more protein for weight loss.Use healthy fat in small amount.Drink lots of water specially before meals.Use lukewarm water after meals.Use lukewarm water with lemon juice on an empty stomach in the morning.Don't sleep immediately after meals.Take proper rest.

I am 23 year old unmarried girl and due to pain in my abdominal area I had a test taken in the nearby scan centre on the guidance of a doctor who examined me and had asked me for the test to be taken I got the test done just want to verify the report as I have certain doubts. The test report states that liver: liver normal in size with uniform echotexture. No focal alteration in echotexture. Intrahepatic biliary radicles appear normal. Common bile duct is normal in calibre. Portal and hepatic veins appear normal. Gall bladder: adequately distended. No abnormal intraluminal echoes. Wall thickness appears normal. Pancreas: normal in size. It shows uniform texture. No evidence of calcification. Spleen: appear normal in size. It measures - 90 mm. It shows uniform echotexture. Aorta / retroperitoneum: aorta and i. V. C appears normal in calibre. No significant retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy. No free fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Rt iliac fossa scanning shows no abnormal sonography features. Kub: rt kidney measures 109 x 45 mm. Lt kidney measures 119 x 70 mm. Normal cortical echoes. Cortico medullary differentiation is maintained. Mild dilatation of pelvicalyceal system and ureter on left side -? upper ureter calculus obstruction. Pelvicalyceal system on right side appears normal. Bladder: bladder normal in contour. No abnormal intraluminal echoes. Normal wall thickness. Post void urine in bladder (vol - 14 ml) pelvic organs: uterus anteverted and it measures 72 x 51 x 33 mm endometrium and mynometrial echoes normal. Et - 4 mm rt ovary measures 33 x 23 mm lt ovary measures 32 x 23 mm. Both ovaries appear normal in echotexture. No free fluid in cul - de - sac. Please advice.

Everything else is fine except for small upper ureter stone on left side. All you need to do is have plenty of water and take pain killers. Hope it will come out itself. Try to avoid tea, coffee, green leafy vegetables

Hello, Check if pathologically she is ok. Give her warm liquids like soups, porridges which act as an appetiser. Give her small meals at regular intervals. Let her start with the smaller portion and gradually increase the quantity.

Do brisk walk daily... Take high fiber diet... take salad, buttermilk, .. take aloe vera juice with luke warm water 3 times a day. Take luke warm water before nd after meals... have small nd frequent meals .. don't skip your breakfast specially....take milk oats without sugar and milk porridge without sugar...
