According to me you should visit a dental surgeon for physical examination as your teeth requires RCT and capping otherwise due to lack of support, other teeth will get effected.

Regarding my re rct I have got 2 opinions, one dentist is suggesting re rct, crown lengthening, post and core and then cap, another dentist is saying to leave it as it is for now as there is no pain, just put a cap on, I am confused pls advise, the x ray showed one white root not touching the bottom and some black accumulation at the bottom also.

If you don't have pain then leave it as it is and if cover is not there then better to go for the re rct.

Hi doctor. I am a 23 year old boy. Whenever I speak, I tend to spit on the listener. This embarrasses me and makes me avoid direct communication or makes me cover my mouth when I speak. I had braces as a teenager. What can I do to avoid the spitting?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you speak. Some people speak faster or slower than others, just as some people blink more often, breathe faster, or have a more rapid heartbeat. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. However there are medical conditions that causes excessive salivation injection glycopyrrolate reduces secretions in the mouth, throat, airway, and stomach.

I have a black spot between my front two teeth. I want to clear that. Please help.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

All individuals requires scaling (cleaning) to be done atleast once in 6months to maintain our oral hygiene clean. Our toothbrush is not much finely designed to clean all the plaque and calculi in the interdental areas of the teeth, which is the area where most of the calculus accumulate much and has to be removed regularly using scalers by the dentist.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need artificial enamel filling or root canal treatment with a cap. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

If your tooth is properly sealed with a permanent filling and you don't have any symptoms of pain or difficulty in chewing, you can go for crown without any problem.

My 2 years old baby boy suffering from ulcers in his throat & mouth and he is not able to take food and even water from yesterday. Kindly suggest a good easy giving medicine to get rid off these ulcers. Also want to inform you that from 2 days he is also suffering from viral & sunstroke and his medicines going on. Kindly help.

Pediatrician, Chennai
Well, looks like your child is suffering from a viral infection. You can continue the medicines for fever and cold as suggested by your nearby pediatrician. For ulcers you can apply small amount of Zytee gel over the ulcers three to four times a day for 3 days. Its for pain relief. Also give syp. Becostar 5 ml once daily for 2 weeks. It contains B- complex vitamins that can help in healing.

My friend is affected with severe bad breath issue for long time, he brushed his teeth twice a day and using mouth wash but the sais issue not reduced and also some time when he cough some white small stones (,tonsil stones) come from his throat. Pls help him.

PGPPH, BDS, Certified Implantologist
Dentist, Hyderabad
Tonsil stones develop in your tonsils due to the accumulation of dead skin cells, bacteria, and food particles that get lodged in the crevices of the tonsils and then the salts from the saliva cause the deposits to calcify. Usually, tonsilloliths, as tonsil stones are also called, are harmless and do not require treatment. However, if you have bad breath or experience pain and discomfort, it is best to consult a doctor. Home remedies: Salt water gargles: You can get relief from the pain and discomfort by gargling with salt water. If you gargle vigorously, you may succeed in dislodging the stones as well. Make the water, lukewarm and add half a teaspoon of salt. Dissolve the salt and gargle with the water. Do not swallow the salt water while gargling. Other treatments available: Laser Tonsil Cryptolysis: This is a noninvasive laser treatment that gets rid of the pockets and crevices where the tonsil stones are lodged. You needn’t worry as it causes minimal pain. Anyway, the doctor will use local anesthesia to ensure you enjoy a pain-free treatment session. The downtime after the treatment is minimal. Coblation Cryptolysis: In this medical procedure, the ENT uses radio waves to change a simple salt solution into charged ions, which adhere to the tonsil tissue and then cut through it. This procedure reduces crevices and pockets on the tonsils and also eliminates tonsil stones. Compared to laser tonsil cryptolysis, coblation cryptolysis does not cause a burning sensation on the tonsils. Antibiotics: Sometimes, the ENT specialist may prescribe antibiotics to treat the infection. Usually, this mode of treatment gets rid of bacteria, which healthcare professionals believe have a major role in the formation and growth of tonsil stones. Tonsillectomy: Your doctor will never recommend tonsillectomy as a method to treat tonsil stones. However, when all other treatment procedures fail to get rid of the severe symptoms that you are experiencing, the ENT specialist will have no other alternative but to surgically remove your tonsils. This removal can be done with the help of a scalpel or laser. Sometimes, even a coblation medical device can be used.
