Although there is no cure for mouth ulcers and they often reoccur, you may be able to reduce their frequency with good dental hygiene and by: avoiding foods that irritate your mouth, including acidic or spicy foods avoiding irritation from gum chewing brushing with a soft-bristled brush after meals and flossing daily, which will keep your mouth free of foods that might trigger a sore. Seek medical advice about mouth ulcers if you have: unusually large sores sores that are spreading sores that last three weeks or longer intolerable pain despite avoiding trigger foods and taking over-the-counter pain medication difficulty drinking enough fluids a high fever with the appearance of the mouth ulcer (s)

Bleeding Of Gums And Bad Breath

Talk of a healthy mouth and most people would think of a decay-free set of teeth. However, the overall oral health is more due to healthy gums and check tissue. The gums or the gingival largely determines the health of the teeth. They not just cover the teeth but also provide anchoring support to the teeth. The gums and the surrounding tissue are together called as Periodontium.

While infection of the gums is called gingivitis and is a minor issue, the periodontal inflammation is more severe and may even cause tooth mobility and eventually loss. Periodontal infection is a chronic condition and is one of the main causes of bad breath or halitosis too.

Pink, swollen gums are one of the first symptoms of poor oral health, gradually leading to spontaneous gum bleeding. Apart from poor oral health, other reasons for bleeding gums include pregnancy, diabetes, mouth ulcers, mouth breathing, chemotherapy, tobacco users, hormonal imbalance, and vigorous brushing. Most can be managed by simply improving oral hygiene practices. If periodontal involvement is identified, it is advisable to see the dentist.

Methods To Treat Bleeding Gums and Breath-
Listed below are some common methods to manage bleeding gums and bad breath.

  1. Brushing: Advisable at least twice a day, but preferably after each meal. Use of a soft-bristled toothbrush is equally important, as hard bristles only cause more bleeding. Follow each massage with a simple plain finger gum massage – this improves blood circulation and thereby gum health.
  2. Rinsing: Any mouthwash will do, and if you are outside and can’t find anything within reach, use water. It has been the oldest rinse and works wonders. Swish it around the teeth for about 30 seconds and spit it out. If a medicated one is used, avoid eating for 30 minutes after the rinse.
  3. Floss: This gives special attention to the surfaces between the teeth which attracts food lodgment and is more prone to decay. Flossing removes plaque from between the teeth and reduces caries and gum problems, thereby reducing the incidence of gum disease and bad breath.

Stop taking gutka like things because it causes lots of dental problem. Like yellowish teeth, plaque deposition, gum disease, loosening of teeth and even oral cancer. For temporary relief from pain you can take ketorol dt 2 tabs dissolved in half cup of water. But you should consult a dentist immediately for x-ray to rule out the exact cause of pain.

Cap is necessary for your root canal treated teeth (because the fluid content of your teeth might have been lost during root canal procedure, so in order to avoid further fracture of your teeth, cap is must).

All About Periodontal Disease

Many adults suffer from Periodontal disease, which may result in slight swelling of the gums or something more severe as grave damage to the bone and tissue, which holds on to the teeth. After the onset of Periodontal disease, dental care is essential as it will determine the progress of the condition.

What are some of the causes of Periodontal disease?
1. Smoking is one of the main causes of gum diseases. Moreover, it also reduces chances of effective treatment.
2. Hormonal changes in women make the gums increasingly sensitive; as a result they become more susceptible to the onset of gingivitis.
3. Diabetic patients are more likely to develop infection of the gums.
4. The ongoing treatment for serious medical conditions like AIDs and cancer can also cause Periodontal Disease.
5. Genetics also plays an essential role in the onset of gums diseases.

What are the symptoms of Periodontal disease?
1. Persistent foul breath
2. Red inflamed gums
3. Tender gums with some amount of bleeding

4. A sensation of pain while chewing food
5. Loose teeth
6. Teeth sensitivity

In case these symptoms are experienced, a dentist should be immediately consulted.

How is Periodontal disease treated?
1. The most effective way of treating Periodontal disease, is by controlling the progression of the condition. The type of treatment generally depends on the extent of the disease.
2. Generally the doctor begins treatment by cleaning out the plaque, through a process called scaling and root planing. Scaling gets rid of the tartar from the gums and root planing removes rough spots from the root of the tooth, where bacteria generally accumulate and breed. Sometimes, a laser is also used for the same.
3. After the cleaning is done, certain medicines are recommended and the doctor recommends strict oral care.
4. If the diseases continue to worsen, a surgical treatment may be recommended.
5. Some surgical treatments include flap surgery and bone and tissue grafts.

Hi. I used to chew pan masala by which there are stains on my tooths on bottom in pale red and yellow. After stoping that still I have those stains on my tooths. Is any remedy by which I can get my tooths as they was earliar.

BDS
Dentist, Bilaspur
Hello Good that you left pan masala but did you see a dentist after that for removal of stains. Also the top portion of teeth have enamel but the bottom part of teeth which are inside the gums lack enamel and are porous. The stains get absorbed in it hence reddish colour. If you want white teeth then after scaling get bleaching done.

I went to a dentist for a toothache problem. I was told that there was a hole which was through the side of the tooth and by doing root canal treatment, the pain would go. I got the root canal treatment done and a cap also fixed on the tooth, but to my dismay the pain in that tooth still remains. Again Xray was conducted and I was given to understand that the tooth had no problem and the root canal was success. Still they could not identify the problem. What is the solution now?

hi sunil!!!i first thing would like to know is how many days has it been since ur root canal treatment and secondly how is the intensity of pain.sometimes the pain remains after the treatment for about a week to 10 days but keeps decreasing in intensity every passing day. if the intensity of pain continues to b the same then it needs intervention.cant comment anything for sure without the xray.u can take a second opinion from another dentist.

Actually my teeth was brown in colour, so my friend recommended the YouTube video. I watched it 2-3 times, after viewing the response of the people, I tried it. The video contains the mixture of baking soda with lemon. So after brushing for the 1st time there was some whitens but there was some blood coming between the teeth. And the bottom layer and the top layer of the teeth turned red from black.

Well you have to brush with baking soda regularly, and rinse your mouth with lemon water, also rub lemon onto your teeth, use mouth wash having hydrogen peroxide, but don't swallow it, make a paste of strawberry and rub in your teeth, avoid chewing tobacco and smoking also, brush atlst twice daily, chew few leaves of holy basil in the morning, if you feel some abnormalities in your teeth visit dentist.
