Actually, you won't be called that, its because, nowadays, you can go for LASIK surgery to remove this eye numbers. You can go for it, and then again you will start getting proper vision. Take care :)

I am 18 years old and have been suffering from myopia and I want to get away from the disease please give your advice.
Hello, use spectacles according to your sightnumber and do the below exercises:- exercises for eyes: warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes. Take physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

Foreign Objects in The Eye - Ways You Can Deal With It!

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Foreign Objects in The Eye - Ways You Can Deal With It!

Excessive blinking or the urge to rub your eyes is most often caused by foreign objects in your eyes. This foreign object can be anything from your own eye lash to dust or a shard of metal. The area these foreign objects affect is the cornea or the conjunctiva. It can scratch the cornea causing an infection of affecting your vision if not treated in time. A foreign object usually enters your eye as a result of a high impact collision or force like wind etc. Some of the symptoms of having a foreign object in your eye include:

  1. Pressure or discomfort in the eye
  2. Pain in the eye
  3. Excessive tearing and clear or bloody discharge from the eye
  4. Increased sensitivity to light
  5. Redness in the eye

Blinking continuously a few times can dislodge some types of foreign objects. If it affects your vision or causes constant tearing consult a doctor. Do not attempt to rub your eyes in an effort to remove the object. Instead restrict the movement of your eye until a doctor can remove the irritant. To avoid further injury to the eye, bandage the eye with a clean cloth. If the object does not allow you to close your eye, cover it with a paper cup and bandage it. Do not use anything, such as tweezers or cotton directly on the eye.

In some cases, the irritants can be seen with the naked eye. If you think something is stuck in your eye, wash your hands and look at your eye under a bright light. Pulling the lower lid down and flipping the upper eye lid can allow you to see the eye more clearly. To remove a foreign object under the upper eyelid submerge the eye in a flat bowl of water and rapidly open and close it a few times. This can help flush the object out of your eye. Alternatively pour a glass of warm water over your eye while keeping them open. Washing the eye can help get rid of irritants stuck under the lower eyelid.

In more serious cases, anesthetic drops are used to numb the eye. The eye will then be observed under a magnifying glass to see the extent of the injury. Your doctor may use several methods to remove the irritant depending on its size and extent of penetration. You may also be given medication to help deal with the pain caused by the object. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ophthalmologist.

Hello sir, I have red eyes for over three days and running nose with cough and fever. What should I do?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS

Hello sir, I have red eyes for over three days and running nose with cough and fever. What should I do?
Get plenty of rest, especially while you have a fever. Rest helps your body fight infection. Stop smoking and avoid secondhand smoke, which can make cold symptoms worse drink lots of fluids such as water and clear soups. Fluids help loosen mucus. Fluids are also important because they help prevent dehydration. Gargle with warm salt water a few times a day to relieve a sore throat. Throat sprays or lozenges may also help relieve the pain. Avoid alcohol. Use saline (salt water) nose drops to help loosen mucus and moisten the tender skin in your nose.

Contact lenses would be able to control. The difference in numbers suggests that your left eye could possibly be a lazy eye. Once you are above 18 and your number is not changing then you can think of LASIK.Are you sure the power is + in left eye and - in right eye

A neuro physician ref is to ensure there is no neurological cause for headaches. And a neurophysician will been the best expert to diagnose what the cause is. Probably recommended due to severity of your symptoms. Would recommend you increase font size you use on phone. Put in reminder for 20-20-20 rule. Start palming 2-3 times daily. Use lubricating eyedrops. Do some neck muscle and back stretches 1-2 times daily. Will help improve your efficiency n comfort during high smartphone usage.

Sir/Madam, I have Cataract problem with my right eye. Can LASIK be performed? I have diabetes also.

MBBS, DOMS, MS - Ophthalmology, , Fellowship in phacoemusification
Ophthalmologist, Patna
Sir/Madam, I have Cataract problem with my right eye. Can LASIK be performed? I have diabetes also.
Cataract & LASIK is two different things ,for cataract phaco-emulsification with foldable lens is choice for surgery. LASIK is refractive surgery to correct myopia, hypermetropia & astigmatism, refractive surgery also include intraocular lend procedure. For  LASIK your eyes must be healthy, if you have persistent dry eyes, LASIK surgery may aggravate this condition resulting in burning sensation & blurring of vision after LASIK.  For LASIK cornea must have sufficient thickness because in reshaping of cornea, you loose the thickness of cornea & if your cornea is too thin, you are not fit case for LASIK.   -1D of myopic correction  consumes 35 micron of corneal thickness.  Average thickness of cornea in Indian is 450 micron to 500 micron& after LASIK there should be around 300 micron thickness of cornea for safety of eye in future.  Pupils are usually large in myopic people who undergo LASIK resulting in side effects such as halos, glares especially when driving in night.       LASIK for the treatment of high retractive errors are less predictable, because very high amount of myopia may require removal of too much corneal tissue putting at high risk of vision complications.  LASIK should not be undertaken before 21 years in male & 19 years in female because myopic power increases by that age, you must have stable vision before LASIK.   There is no upper age limit but one should keep in mind that once you are 40 years old, you may still need reading glass due to presbyopia changing every two years till you develop cataract in old age.     Contraindication for LASIK is degenerative disease, sjogren syndrome, type 1 diabetes etc. People who are taking immunosuppressive must think 10 times before undergoing LASIK.  One must go LASIK  screening before taking decision for LASIK.   One who undergoes for LASIK should be fully aware of potential LASIK complications & should not hide anything from operating surgeon about health.

Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T.V. Working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while you are out in sun. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter.
