One of the reasons that insomnia is high stress levels and time pressures associated with modern living. Many people complain of insomnia, with stress during the day making them too tense or worried to be able to fall asleep at night. Lack of sleep, in turn, creates more stress on the job and at home. However, it is important to know at the outset that not all people require the same amount of sleep. Sleeping cycles vary among people and throughout a person’s life. Restful sleep is one of the three pillars of ayurvedic healing, the other two being diet and lifestyle. Causes: There are many causes that a person is not able to sleep properly. Insomnia mainly results due to mental disturbances. Any type of body pain, uncomfortable weather or surroundings, some disease also results in to insomnia. Overwork and extreme worries may also cause lack of sleep. People who have a history of improper digestion, constipation and habits of eating irregularly are Treatment of Insomnia: Some lifestyle changes and herbal medicines can help treat the problem. You can try these time-tested remedies: •- Do some exercise everyday—but never late in the evening. •- Avoid caffeine in all forms, especially after lunch time. •- Avoid taking naps during the day. •- Drink buffalo milk. It contains rich amounts of an amino acid, L-tryptophan, which induces sleep. •- Take a nice, long, warm bath before bed-time. Charaka Samhita says that bath is the best remedial measure to counteract exertion. •- Read a book or do some repetitive, calm activity such as chanting a mantra. Japa etc. •- Avoid distractions that may hold your attention and keep you awake, such as watching a suspense movie or a thrilling game, TV serials. •- Make your bedroom comfortable. Create a quiet, dark atmosphere. Use clean, fresh sheets and pillow and keep the room temperature comfortable. •- To balance Vata, gradually introduce regularity into your lifestyle. Eating, sleeping, working, and exercising at the same hours promotes harmony. By varying routines with the seasons, you can better adjust to changes in the environment and climate. Ayurvedic Herbs for Insomnia The useful herbs for the treatment of insomnia are:- Brahmi: It is a powerful brain tonic, which supports and improves all aspects of mental functioning. It is a calming and tranquillizing herb. A cup of brahmi tea or powder or any other preparation with brahmi, taken at bedtime, will induce a peaceful sleep and its regular use will help to cure insomnia. Aswagandha: This is an overall tonic for greater vitality and longevity. It enhances coordination between the mind and senses which, according to Ayurveda, is essential for good sleep. The recommended dose is half teaspoonful of powder taken at night along with sugar+ ghee or warm milk. Panchkarma Therapy for Insomnia Recommended Panchkarma are Shirobasti, Shirodhara, Nasya. Abhyangam- Body massage. Pada Abhyangam or Foot Massage with Ksheerabala oil provides relaxation to the body and mind helps good sleep.

Hello, I feel that your ear drum might have a perforation. Whenever you suffer from running nose, cold or waters enters ear while bathing, problem restarts and also subsides after few days. You need to get checked up by an ent surgeon. In the mean time, protect your ear from water entry and try oticheck ear drop, two drops thrice daily for 14 days.

You are having sensitivity to cold water which may be due to a cavity in some tooth or due to some other reason. Please visit a dentist and get the cavity removed and filling or root canal treatment done. That will be decided by seeing the extent of your cavity.

Hello A. Breakfast (Between 8-10 a. M) – Have oats/porridge or brown bread with milk and nuts. B. At 11 a. M - Cup of Green Tea C. Mid day meal (around 12 p. M) – Have a bowl of fruits. Citrus fruits are best taken during this hour and absorb well in the body. Have oranges, amla, pineapple etc during this hour. D. Lunch (between 2-3 p. M) – Daal, roti, mix veg, buttermilk and salad. You can also take brown rice with daal in lunch. Try to get your food cooked in olive oil. Lace your salad with apple cider vinegar, black pepper and seeds like flaxseeds or chia seeds to make it nutrition packed lunch. E. Between 4 p. M – 5 p. M – Cup of Green Tea F. Evening (4-6 p. M) – Have some nice sprouts with tomatoes and cucumber. G.Dinner (2 hours before sleeping, preferably before 9 p. M) – Paneer & veggies salad with olive oil, Roti or brown rice with Daal. H. Have a glass of warm milk. Weight loss is 80% about what you eat and 20% about exercises. That said, both the things go hand in hand. If you want to lose weight in a more healthy way than be patient and just follow the regimen every day. Slow and steady wins the race.

Hello, one can protect yourself from the sun by the following points: - avoid going out during hot summer weather or extreme heat during the whole day. - apply a good sunscreen with spf 30. Apply it 20-30 minutes before stepping out. Re-apply the sunscreen if you are out for more than 3-4 hrs. - wear a hat with a broad rim. - carry an umbrella. - wear goggles. - drink plenty of water. - eat healthy food, avoid junk. - eat fruits and vegetables with more percentage of water in it. Here are few tips for fairer and flawless skin: -Soak some almonds in water overnight, remove their skin in the morning and grind them. Add a teaspoon of gram fluor, one teaspoon of milk and 4 drops of lime juice. Make a paste, mix it well and apply it on your face. Regular massage gives you long lasting clear and fair skin. -Turmeric is good ingredient for skin. Make a face pack with mixture of turmeric and milk. Apply this and wash off after an hour with cold water for glowing skin. Lemon juice and glycerin work nicely for dry skin whereas fuller’s earth and turmeric are used for oily skin. -Mix papaya and honey and mash it. Apply and wash after 20 minutes. Use this face pack every other day for a naturally spotless fair skin. This pack also eliminates the sun tanning which causes patchiness on the skin and the dark spots or the pimple marks which will refrain the skin from looking spotless. -Take one tomato, grate it well and mix it with 3-4 drops of lime juice. Apply it on your face wait for 15 minutes and then rinse it off. Repeat it daily and feel the change on your face. -A mixture of egg white, milk cream and honey works excellent against skin tanning. Mix tomato juice with honey or yogurt and apply it daily on skin to remove tanning. -Make dilute paste of mint leaves and almond seeds with warm water. Wash your face and neck with this water and wash again with clean warm water. You can add mint leaves in regular bathing water to get glow and freshness to your skin. Use Schwabe's Skin Care soap, apply Calendula & Aloe Vera cream immediately after bathing, apply Bakson's Suncare sunscreen 20-30 min. Before going out under the sunlight. At night, use Bakson's Papaya Pack and after washing face apply it's Fairness cream. Above all, regular exercise (yoga, gymnastic, aerobics etc), intake of healthy nutritious food, keeping a positive attitude, avoiding stress/ anger/ anxiety/ fear/ jealousy/ aggressive nature as much as possible as it affects skin, its colour and glow!

I get headaches if I sit in ac room/car. I also feel my ears get blocked and I suffer from hearing loss. This lasts for 1-2 days. Usually yawning suddenly opens up my ears and going to sleep makes me feel blocked again. What can I do to prevent my hearing if I cannot avoid ac. Is there any medicine/treatment?

1. Do not wash your hair daily. 2. Give you head hot oil massage - mix of olive, almond, coconut and sesame oil. 3. Eat food rich in proteins 4. Apply some natural herbs like bringraj, amla and shikakai 5. You can apply raw amla juice daily 6. Use apple cider vinegar to maintain ph levels of scalp 7. Hi = relax and stay positive. = increase fluid intake. = eat seasonal fruits for natural vitamins = do stretching of hamstring, quadriceps, and calf muscles. = if you are overweight, reduce weight by cycling or swimming as it gives low impact on joints. = do check your calcium and vit. D = apply moist heat pad to affected joint and muscles. The last few decades have seen obesity has grown as the new social evil.  One of the major culprits is the reduced physical activity and sedentary lifestyle that has become the norm. It is therefore not surprising that weight loss is on everybody's personal goals.  In a lot of cases, ironically, the methods and techniques have involved turning the clock back, what was being done a couple of decades ago. Let us look at using stairs for example. From an engineering point of view, elevators and escalators were a major focus area in the 1900s and 2000s.  However, now, stair designs that are easy on the body are the highlight.

Let us look at some facts related to weight loss and climbing stairs. These should provide you sufficiently good reasons to start using the stairs next time when you have a choice.

  • Fact 1:  Climbing stairs help burn more calories per minute than jogging.  It is declared as a 'vigorous exercise'. 
  • Fact 2: Climbing a step helps you burn about 0.2 calories and going down burns 0.05, so to burn 1 calorie, all you need to do is go up 5 steps or go down 20 steps.
  • Fact 3: However, though the number of calories burned is less by going downstairs, the muscles and joints used for getting down stairs are different. Using stairs to go up and down should be regularly practiced.
  • Fact 4:  Climbing stairs require about 9 times more energy than sitting and about 7 times more energy than required to take the lift.  
  • Fact 5: For going up or down 3 to 4 flights of stairs, taking the stairs helps save about 15 minutes of valuable time (most of it waiting for the lift to arrive).
  • Fact 6: Regular use of stairs safeguards you against heart disease, diabetes, muscle weakness and stroke.
  • Fact 7: Endorphins are released when you climb stairs, which also induce a feeling of well-being.
  • Fact 8: Overweight people burn more calories by climbing stairs.
  • Fact 9: Taking one step at a time in more beneficial than taking two at a time. Calories are burned gradually, but more efficiently.
  • Fact 10: Climbing stairs is eco-friendly as well, as it reduces carbon emissions. Just another reason why you should avoid the lift!

this back pain is due to no back exercise.... due to this muscle get stiff .... when suddenly you get move fast that time this stiff muscle get break and pain start..... in ayurved there is mentioned one procedure KATI BASTI ....DO THIS FOR FIVE DAYS WITH MEDICATED OIL if you want to do it you should do it under doctor observation .... so consult ayurvedic doctor near you ... you will definitely get good result ..
