Trying hard. But maybe methods are not correct. 1. Workouts need to be intensive. Out of 60 mins, 40 should be cardio and 10 for strength and 10 for abs and stretches. 2. Cardio means Treadmill at 6-8 kmph or Cycling at 30 kmph. 3. Maximum calories are burnt in cardio. But my observation of people doing gym is they spend max time doing crunches /sit ups thinking that will melt the belly fat. 4. Visit YouTube and see '7 mins workouts' 'Skinny Jeans workout' 'Hiit workouts' by Fitness Blender / Popsugar Fitness. 5. Those are the type of workouts you should be doing. 6. Also diet is important. Diet does not mean dieting. 7. It means eating nutritious and natural foods. 8. Simple foods. 9. Cut down oils and sugars. 10. Drink lots and lots of water. This will work. This will help you lose about 2 kgs a month. In six months you can reach your target weight. You can connect privately after changing your approach if you see some changes in 3 weeks. All the best.

Urinary Tract Infection - Reasons behind It

Urinary Tract Infection - Reasons behind It

Urinary Tract Infections are a group of diseases that affect one’s urinary system such as the urethra, bladder, ureters or kidneys. Women are more prone to contracting UTIs than men. They may be accompanied by symptoms such as a constant urge to urinate frequently along with a burning sensation in the concerned parts and pelvic pain. The urine may have traces of blood in it. These infections are usually treated with antibiotics.

Causes behind Urinary Tract Infection:

Urinary Tract infection generally occurs when the bacteria enter the urinary tract via the urethra and begin to proliferate in the bladder. Although the urinary system is structured to ward off such invaders, at times, the defense mechanism fails. In that case, the bacteria may evolve into a full-blown infection in the urinary tract.

Few risk factors are:

  1. Female anatomy: A woman’s urethra is shorter as compared to a man’s, thus lessening the distance the bacteria need to travel to the bladder. This increases the chances of UTIs in women.

  2. Using diaphragms and spermicidal agents for birth controls

  3. A dip in the levels of estrogen post menopause

  4. Abnormalities in the urinary tract that hinder the discharge of urine or cause the urine to travel back into the urethra.

  5. Enlarged prostate or kidney stones that cause the urine to be trapped in the bladder.

  6. An impaired immune system because of diabetes and other ailments

  7. Using catheters (tube) to urinate is one of the common risk factors because of the chances of infections. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult an urologist.

Surely you can gain some more height if you work hard for that as height in males can increase upto 20 years of age---------------------------Natural methods to grow body are all based on sound scientific methods and they do work if we follow them. These methods do not claim to give drastic results because these don’t interfere with our endocrine system and functioning of our body. These methods are the best way to try to grow body. Proper Diet and Nutrition: •Liver •Green vegetables •Potatoes •Nuts such as almonds and peanuts •Chicken •Beans •Peas •Fruits like apples and bananas Milk and dairy products Proper diet and nutrition play an extremely important role in body growth.. A well balanced diet which is rich in calcium, phosphorus, iodine and magnesium is extremely important for proper growth. For these minerals to be assimilated in our body we must refrain from junk food and food that contains trans-fats as these interfere with the absorption of the minerals and nutrients which are needed for our growth. In order to get protein, carbohydrates, amino acids and calcium required for healthy growth and development, we should make these following items a part of our everyday meal. •Egg yolk •Beef •Carrots •Fish The importance of calcium in the overall development of the human body cannot be ignored. This nutrient is vital for the growth and maintenance of strong bones and cartilages. Thus, it is advisable to have milk and dairy products to fulfill our calcium requirements. Apart from this, we must also drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water daily to detoxify your body. Proper sleep A good night’s sleep is absolutely essential not only for our overall well being but our growth also. It is due to the fact that the growth hormone does its job of thickening and lengthening your bones during deep sleep. Correct sleeping posture is also crucial for proper growth as correct posture keeps the spine straight and this adds to our inches.

Bacterial Vaginosis - 4 Common Causes Behind It

Bacterial Vaginosis - 4 Common Causes Behind It

Bacterial vaginosis is an infection that occurs in the vagina due to an imbalance in growth of the vaginal bacteria; It is the overgrowth in the naturally occurring bacteria in the vagina causes the imbalance. This disorder is very common among women, especially among pregnant women. This problem is usually not very serious and tends to subside within 4-5 days. However, in certain cases, they are capable of causing serious complications.

Symptoms of bacterial vaginosis include:

  1. Vaginal discharge that is white or grey in colour
  2. Constant itching in your vagina
  3. The vaginal discharge usually has a foul smelling odour
  4. Burning sensation during urination

Causes
Vaginal bacteria can be either good or bad. Any disruption in the delicate balance of the vaginal bacteria can lead to bacterial vaginosis. There is no exact known cause of this disorder, but it is believed that having multiple sex partners can aggravate this risks. Other factors include:

  1. Douching: If you clean your vagina with water and other cleansing agents on a regular basis, it might cause a bacterial imbalance, thus leading to this infection.
  2. Multiple partners: Having multiple sex partners puts you at a higher risk of contracting bacterial vaginosis. This disorder may also lead to various complications such as:
    • STIs: This infection may make you highly susceptible to various infections such as Chlamydia, HIV and gonorrhoea.
    • Disorders of the pelvic region: Bacterial vaginosis may lead to inflammation in the pelvic region, which in turn may lead to infertility.
    • Preterm birth: It increases the chances of premature birth
  3. Smoking: Smoking frequently increases the risk of a bacterial vaginosis infection.
  4. Unprotected sex: Having sex without proper protection increases the risk levels of bacterial vaginosis.

There are certain preventive measures that you can adopt to prevent this condition:

  1. Use soaps which contain no or very little chemicals to clean the region around your genitals
  2. Use latex condoms during sexual intercourse to prevent STIs.
  3. Do not clean your vagina (the practice referred to as douching) on a regular basis. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Its unlikely that you may have conceived. However to settle your doubts do a pregnancy test on home pregnancy kit with first urine sample pf the day. See your doctor if it shows positive. At times one bleeds even after fertilisation but then in your case it appears unlikely since you did not even miss your cycle.

Dear doctor, I am 74 years old man, while passing urine I feel it's burning. This problem has been there for the last 15 days. Is it due to prostate gland problem. Awaiting your response. Thanks.

Felllow in Endourology, MCh Urology, MRCS, MS, MBBS
Urologist,
Dear , I am sorry to know about your problem. Enlarged prostate usually does not cause burning, but it can lead to urinary infection, bladder stone or rarely cancer, all of which can cause burning. Please get an ultrasonogram of abdomen with post void residual urine estimation to rule out prostatic enlargement and urine microscopy to rule out infection. Please get back to me with the reports and I can guide you better. It is also important to get your prostate examined by a urologist. Wish you a speedy recovery.
