Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. Stammering is" speaking with sudden involuntary pauses and a tendency to repeat the initial letters of words" or" say something with difficulty, repeating the initial letters of words and with sudden involuntary pauses" stammering could be due to two reasons. First reason is vocal cord misalignment. Second is psychological performance anxiety. First of all you should consult an ent specialist and evaluate your vocal chords. If there is problem, ent specialist will be able to correct it. If there is no problem with your vocal chords, the best option is stammer therapy. Take care.

If you find your symptoms recurring after stopping medication, it is an indication that your treatment is incomplete. Consult your treating psychiatrist and continue the medication as prescribed by them. Premature termination of treatment can lead to relapse, worsening of symptoms, incomplete resolution of symptoms and even resistance to treatment. Always take medication as prescribed for a specific period of time. Medication can be tapered, but only by the doctor, and only when there is significant improvement. Tapering is done very gradually.

The double effect of smoking and drinking will definitely affect your erectile capability. Smoking directly impacts your erection and it can do so immediately when you smoke. You can recover completely with quitting smoking and going on an exercise program immediately. You may visit a sexologist to determine the extent of damage and that person will also give you problem-specific actions to take.

Dear , you have not mentioned anything about any peculiar mental conditions your sister may have. If there is no mental health problems like anxiety depression, the problem can be cured through anger management therapy. I think one or two online counseling sessions should clear her problem. Take care.

Can he beat it with exercise, CBT, Diet, yoga and relaxing techniques without taking any antidepressants. I am doing exercise daily. I am getting better and better day by day. Possibly no. Exercise and cbt have a positive effect on depression and are proven to improve depression. However in your case, the duration of illness i. E. 2-3 years is striking. This is just because chronic depression usually requires medications and a holistic approach with ruling our other causes of such depression like hormonal imbalances and specific vitamin deficiencies.

Dear lybrate-user, Welcome to Lybrate. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Nicotine and other chemicals can cause cancer of different types and areas. Throat cancer, mouth cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer and brain problems can result. Over and above smoking may also increase the risk factor of heart attack and brain stroke. Please quit smoking. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you’re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse—no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Mind power building therapy, motivation therapy etc should help you doing so. Take care.

Recently my friend is passed away. So I'm mentally affect them I'm not normal now. What I do?
The loss of a friend is very difficult to take especially if s/he was a young person. This loss will make you feel sad and you must express this feeling to someone who will lend a listening ear. If you have to weep, please go ahead and do so. Crying is very cathartic to grief. All the thoughts, experiences, good times, the shared moments etc. need to be spoken about and this process may take some time but will be very useful to dealing with this loss. A visit to the family and expressing your condolences and sharing your relationships with the person will be beneficial too. Do not wallow in the misery but make it an expressive and sincere experience. Of course in all this the idea is to move the emotion out of your system, and finish with the grieving. You must realize that eventually you must move on and show more importance to the living and those left behind who also need to complete the process. Attend whatever rituals, memorials, prayer meetings, and ceremonies that are held as a method of finishing with the process of grieving. Once these are all done you must focus on life and move on. The vacuum s/he has left behind must be duly filled by another person after some time and you must feel like you have done adequate justice to his/her memory. You yourself must get back to life with a vigor and into routines that are useful to your well being. You can then carry fond memories and live in peace with that.

Hello lybrate-user, change yourself. Unless and until you change your thoughts nothing can help you. For that be confident in you. Be sure of your abilities and your weak points. Negative thoughts come out of your poor self confidence and your fear to life. Don't get feared, your life is in you, put maximum effort to come forward.

I am not able to concentrate on my mind, mind telling something I am doing something. How to concentrate myself with my mind. Please help me.?

DNB, DPM, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Delhi
Mindfulness method for concentration. This is an easy mindfulness exercise, and one that you can do anytime throughout the day. Take a moment right now to try this. Check your watch and note the time. For the next 60 seconds your task is to focus all your attention on your breathing. It? s just for one minute, but it can seem like an eternity. Leave your eyes open and breathe normally. Be ready to catch your mind from wandering off (because it will) and return your attention to your breath whenever it does so. This mindfulness exercise is far more powerful than most people give it credit for. It takes some people many years of practice before they are able to complete a single minute of alert, clear attention. Keep in mind that this mindfulness exercise is not a contest or a personal challenge. You can? t fail at this exercise, you can only experience it. Use this exercise many times throughout the day to restore your mind to the present moment and to restore your mind to clarity and peace. Over time, you can gradually extend the duration of this exercise into longer and longer periods. This exercise is actually the foundation of a correct mindfulness meditation technique. You had to learn this method with therapist. If you want tom learn. Let me know.
