I am 49 years old, I am suffering with right knee pain with swelling from 2 years, what should I do?
Hi. I am a 25 years old married woman. I have been feeling extreme fatigue and swollen joints since mid of august 2014. Doctors couldn't diagnose the actual disease. Also I was under stress during these days as I had continue doing the chore household work and nobody understood my condition as reason could not be diagnosed. Physiotherapy session were also not helping. By end november 2014 I was limping due to pain in my knee. Then in the first week of december 2014, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis by rheumatologist. My uncle who is a homeopath doctor says that stress is the reason for onset of ra in my case. Can you confirm if it can be said with 100% guarantee that ra onset is caused by stress? if not, what are the causes of rheumatoid arthritis? what are the possible cure and treatment?

Hi this question is regarding my mother, who is 52 years of age, a patient of high B. P (around 180 max.), she got operated for hyper adenoma recently at AIIMS, New Delhi (operation date 18 Feb. 2015), India. After operation doctors discharged her from hospital saying that every thing is normal now and minor pain in joints especially in leg joints will make slow recovery. A recent diagnose of KFT, Thyroid, depicts normal situation with Blood count of 8mg, onwards to this pain in joints marginally faded away but not completely. She is complaining a minor pain same as the prior to adenoma removal, that's too same part of the neck. Is there any possibility of that gland increasing in size again producing more calcium again than required normally. Do we have to get her operated again for same? Please suggest dieting precautions also? Her blood count is not increasing, is that normal, as her blood count had gone dropped steep down by 12mg to 4 mg prior to operation with in 2 months?
From marathon runners to footballers, amongst athletes, 'pulling a hamstring' is the most common type of injury. The hamstring is a group of four muscles at the back of your thigh. When one of these muscles gets overloaded or begins to tear, it is known as a hamstring injury. While a hamstring injury is painful, it does not indicate the end of an athlete's career.
Minor hamstring injuries may heal by themselves. In cases where one of the muscles is torn, surgery is required to repair and reattach the muscles. Recovery time depends on the severity of the injury. Stretching and exercising the muscles of the leg are the most important parts of rehabilitation. The healing of a hamstring injury can be divided into four stages.
- Acute phase: The first five days after a hamstring injury is known as the acute phase of rehabilitation. The aim of treatment at this phase is to reduce inflammation and keep the other muscles from atrophy. For minor hamstring injuries resting the leg, using ice packs and keeping the leg elevated can accelerate the healing process. Once the pain and swelling has decreased, patients can use a cane or crutch to exercise the leg.
- Subacute phase: From the fifth day to the 3rd week after the injury, the focus of the treatment shifts from minimizing swelling to strengthening the leg and increasing the range of possible motions. At this time, an athlete can resume cardiovascular training. Swimming and other forms of aquatic training are said to be especially beneficial to the treatment of hamstring injuries.
- Remodeling phase: The remodeling phase continues upto 6 weeks after the injury. Strengthening the leg is the focus of this stage of treatment. Using ankle weights can be beneficial towards strengthening the leg muscles. It is important to be careful about the weight being used and to gradually increase this weight to avoid an added injury.
- Functional stage: This stage can last upto 6 months until the athlete can regain full function of his or her leg. As the athlete's gait gets back to normal, they may start jogging and short sprints. Gradually, more sport specific exercises may be added to the workout.
There is no fixed time when an athlete can return to active sports after a hamstring injury. While players with minor injuries may return to the field after 3 weeks, athletes with muscles tears may take upto 6 months to recover completely. Hamstring injuries tend to reoccur and hence before they can get back to active sports, an athlete must pass an isometric strength test and flexibility test. This ensures that there are no subtle after effects of the injury that can increase the risk of a repeat injury.
Sir, I have slip disc since 2 years at L4-L5. Since march 2016, I am feeling little numbness in my left foot. I feel so much pain in my leg bones (fibula other part is ok) and the surrounding muscles after jogging. What is the likely cause?
My father, aged 68, is currently hospitalized and is diagnosed with blood infection, non-cardiac pulmonary edema and severe back pain upon jerks or postural change. He has been cleared of myeloma. His MRI, x-rays and pet Scan showsabnormal contrast on two spinal vertebrae. Doctor is suspecting Spine TB though the Biopsy is still awaiting. However, prelim reports from the Biopsy lab shows no trace of TB though. He has been on antibiotics for 5 days now (meropenem) and he has shown very good improvement so far (including decrease in the back pain). However, I want to know how long it could take before he would be able to hold blood oxygen levels again. Currently he needs 2-3 Litre for saturation. Does it need some more medication to get that level and can we bring him home? Hospital seems to be delaying things to extract continuous money. About his Spine condition, what else could happen? Could it be some simple inflammation as he never had any back pain before?
I am 66 years male living in HYDERABAD. Having pain in lower back since last six months. The pain is maximum when standing or walking. When I lie down it reduces to negligible level. The MRI report says" Posterocentral and bilateral paracentral disc protrusion at L4-L5 level causing thecal sac compression and bilateral neural foramina narrowing" Screening of cervical shows disc osteophyte complex at C4-C-5, C5-C6, and C6-C7 levels causing mild cord indentation" I am doing back stretching exercises twice daily and stopped taking Medicines as they are not helping much.
