There are many lifestyle and dietary guidelines that can be followed to protect against future flares or prevent gout or uric acid problems from occurring in the first instance: maintain a high fluid intake (2-4 liters a day) avoid alcohol maintain a healthy body weight eat a balanced diet limit fish, meat and poultry intake. If attempting to lose weight, avoid low-carbohydrate diets. If carbohydrate intake is insufficient, the body is unable to burn its own fat properly, releasing substances called ketones into the bloodstream. This results in a condition called ketosis that can increase the level of uric acid in the blood. It is most important to avoid foods that are high in purines, to ensure that the levels of uric acid in the blood do not get too high. Here is a list of high-purine foods to be wary of: beef kidneys brains dried beans and peas liver mackerel mushrooms lose some weight by walking or other exercise, avoid meats and get always be on a prescribed diet as prescribed by a registered dietitian. I am a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and a doctor, consult privately for detailed treatment plans using diet and medications.

We had our first child on 22nd june17 through cesarean delivery of my wife. Throughout the pregnancy period and even before that she never had High BP, not even in OT. But soon after the delivery, her BP shoot up to 180-200. She was kept in ICU for 3 days and Lobet was given. After about 5 days, we came home and the doctor advised to keep checking her BP. At home also her BP is fluctuating and inspite of taking Lobet 200, BP remains like 130/100 or 140/100. In her family, they have history of HIGH BP. Her parents had BP. Now doctor is suggesting that if the BP is not controlled in few days, he will have to suggest regular medicine of BP which she will have to take throughout her life. Her age is 29 Years. Please suggest.

BP which is high after delivery is attributed to stress causes during and after labour, stress is not only physical but emotional and harmonal as well as there are lot of changes which happens in a female body during and after pregnancy, however diet and exercise can be very helpful to keep her BP in check, so relax and make sure she takes the correct diet, doesn't put on weight, keeps her triglycerides and cholesterol in check and have a stress free life style, aparr from regular physical activity, for any further information or assistance you may get back to us.

Typhoid usually can lead to generalized body pain which can persist for a few weeks. I suppose if you have been diagnosed with typhoid you must have visited a physician and he must have given you antibiotics and other medications for the same. Please continue and complete that course and you can take Paracetamol 650 mg SOS for pain with meals.

I have observed a twitching 10-30 seconds pain on my left chest which has now become regular. Had undergone ECG where some small error observed by doctor and put me on ecosprin. My TMT was perfect with no problem at narayana hrudalaya bangalore and I was told I have less than 5% chance of any attack. But this regular pricking twitch keeps giving me the jitters. Doc says if it continues. He may suggest me an anti. Should I need to go in for it. If required I can share scan copy of my ECG. That has raised eyebrow of the doc. Do guide me

Hello, Lybrate user, It would b proper to view your report but ECG report is not enough to assesse the over all condition of d heart to be panic about unless you go through stress test, angiography,Eco, to establish any measure cardiac fault when TMT is normal. Caffiene may trigger Herat problem please consult to your cardiologist, in this regard. If you are on Ecosprin it means some blockage is there or blood need to be thinner but that too, can be established after Eco test, atleast. On the whole your symptoms reveal that you are disturbed due to gastric disorder causing pain in chest and back. U have not mentioned your height & weight. Homoeopathy very well manage the function of heart. Till your report reach me ,please take homoeo medicine: @ Carbo veg 200-6 pills, thrice. Tk, plenty of water, Go for meditation to reduce your stress and to feed your heart. Your diet be easily digestible diet on small intervals. I want to know precautions should be taken for blood pressure patients? Specially for high blood pressure.

BHMS

I want to know precautions should be taken for blood pressure patients? Specially for high blood pressure.
Hello, Lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure, even if you're taking blood pressure medication. Eat healthy foods. Consume more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish and low-fat dairy foods. Eat less saturated fat and trans fat. Decrease the salt in your diet. So, avoid eating processed foods, such as canned soups or frozen dinners which contains extra salt in it. Keeping a healthy weight, or losing weight if you're overweight or obese, can help you control your high blood pressure and lower your risk of related health problems. Increase physical activity which can help lowering your blood pressure, manage stress, reduce your risk of several health problems. Get indulged in regular exercising (if your doctor allows you). Limit alcohol. Even if you're healthy, alcohol can raise your blood pressure. If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Don't smoke. Tobacco injures blood vessel walls and speeds up the process of hardening of the arteries. Reduce stress as much as possible. Practice healthy coping techniques, such as muscle relaxation, deep breathing or meditation. Getting regular physical activity and plenty of sleep can help, too. Monitor your blood pressure at home. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Essentia Aurea/ thrice daily which is a cardio-tonic which helps in maintaining blood pressure, improves muscle tone of the heart and narrowing of blood vessels.

My wife is 55 years old. her echo cardiogram report is normal. Her ecg report speaks of STT changes, for which the doctor here told me to get a street Test, modified done. The stress test has come positive - it speaks of "significant ST segment depression over and above basal changes in exercise and early recovery, reverting to basal at the end of recovery" and concludes saying "stress test positive for inducible ischaemia by ST criteria, this could represent a false positive in view of baseline abnormality. Suggested clinical correlation and further evaluation as clinically appropriate" my doctor says that she is otherwise asymptomatic, with normal bp, triglycerides, non diabetic, no chest pain, no breathlessness, no palpitation, and may be because of baseline issues. But he has suggested for a ct scan coronary angiogram. I would like to know whether is angio is necessary, as I would not otherwise have liked to expose her to 64 radiation hazards, if avoidable. Please advise. Please tell me the charges and the digital payment path.

Dear Angiogram may show blocks. But she has no complaints. Noting blocks at this age is seen in majority people and a aging change. Best would be stress thallium myocardial scan. This can show a sub millimeter stress ischemia and is totally non invasive safe procedure. If comes positive then Ayurvedic medicines can reverse it. If negative just enjoy

I feel little bit of uneasiness in left chest portion my age is 36 years what need to be done.
If along with uneasiness in left chest, you feel pain in left hand, particularly on inner side and inner 2 and half fingers (little finger, ring finger and lower half of middle finger) you may have heart problem (coronary artery disease) and you need to get investigate by tread-meal test. Usually uneasiness is due to muscular aches or gastric problems but as males are subjected to lot of stress, tension and competition and lack protective estrogen, they become prone to coronary artery diseases after 40 years (though now a days it is occurring in genetically susceptible young adults too), you should get yourself checked by a cardiologist or you may undergo comprehensive cardiac health check-up available in most of hospitals now a days specially on Sundays for a nominal discounted coat ranging from Rs3000-6000/- which includes full blood check-up, diabetic profile, liver function tests, kidney function tests, pulmonary function tests, treadmill test, echo cardiogram, ultrasound of abdomen, chest x-ray, rectal examination, examination and consultation by a surgeon, consultation by a cardiologist and consultation with dietician.

My daughter has one heart hole of 3 point. She is 40 days old. I want to know this is major or minor problem?
Dear Lybrateuser, - The condition has to be monitored as she grows - a hole can gradually close itself on its own as she grows, if not then can be closed by implant device or surgery - if closure is not there then symptoms like breathlessness, tiredness, turning blue on exertion, activity can occur - condition has to be monitored by a cardiologist.
