Hello Doctor, My son is about to 3 years but he is not talkative he just says mummy and Papa and some a few words. He understands everything and very clearly explains his points. I am worried why he is not speaking he is going to playway from March 2016.

Diploma in Paediatrics, MD - Paediatrics

I understand your apprehension for delayed speach. In some cases it will take around 4 yrs. Have a patience and try to speak with him and give him reassurance. As he will in school he will get ample opportunities to express himself.

Normally teeth erupts between 4-7 months how ever we wait till 18 months for the first tooth to appear. If no tooth appears till this age you should consult a pediatric dentist.

Parents must be truthful to their children and must fulfill any promise made to them. For example you may take your child to the doctor for vaccination, tell him that he would be vaccinated and it is very important to prevent the disease .one injection will prevent many injections.

Acute Upper Respiratory Infection: Causes and Symptoms

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
Acute Upper Respiratory Infection: Causes and Symptoms

Upper respiratory infection (URI) is a condition, which involves illness, mainly caused by critical infection in the upper respiratory tract. This region includes the pharynx, larynx, nose and sinus. This infection causes diseases, such as tonsillitis (tonsils get inflamed), pharyngitis (causes sore throat) sinusitis (nasal passage becomes inflamed), laryngitis (voice box in your throat gets inflamed) and common cold.

Causes of upper respiratory infection (URI):

  1. Both virus and bacteria cause upper respiratory infection (URI). The most common form of virus causing this infection is known as 'rhinovirus.'
  2. The immune system of young adults and children are often very vulnerable. Hence, they are more likely to develop upper respiratory tract infection.
  3. URI is also contagious and airborne in nature. So if a person comes in contact with an infected person suffering from URI, he/she is likely to develop this infection.
  4. Not washing hands before meals can also cause upper respiratory infection because the virus can be transferred easily to the mouth and can travel into your system.
  5. If you have any lung problem or heart disease, you are more likely to be susceptible to upper respiratory infection.
  6. Those who already have inflamed tonsils can trigger tonsillitis by drinking any cold or spicy beverage like ice-creams or cold milkshakes.
  7. Exposure to some flu or cold can cause pharyngitis. It can also be caused by second hand smoking.
  8. Birth defects or structural defects in the nasal cavity or nasal polyps can cause sinusitis. Sometimes the inside part of the nose may get swollen due to common cold and block your ducts. This is a common cause for sinusitis.

Symptoms of acute upper respiratory infection:

  1. Congestion in the lungs or nasal area.
  2. Whooping cough
  3. Running nose due to common cold.
  4. Feelings of fatigue and lethargy throughout the day.
  5. Your body will start aching without engaging in any physical exercise.
  6. You can also lose consciousness in severe respiratory tract infections.
  7. Difficulty in breathing.
  8. Oxygen levels in blood drop down drastically.

Sometimes in worse cases, acute upper respiratory tract infection (URI) can also cause respiratory failure, respiratory arrest and congestive heart failure. Therefore, it is necessary to book an appointment with a doctor as soon as you start experiencing the above symptoms. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a pulmonologist.

Please eat a balanced, nutritious diet with good amount of proteins, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, with plenty of fluids. Non vegetarian diet is good if it contains good amounts of proteins, like fish, lean meat, etc.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS

Whitish over the tongue could be due to fungal infection known as oral thrush. This could be due to bottle feeding also.As far as possible try to avoid bottle feeding.Apply candid mouth paint(drops) two times daily over the tongue for 4 to 5 days. In case of red coloured ulcers known as apthous ulcers apply Zytee gel.

Is there any treatment for vitiligo skin? My daughter (10 years old) suffering from vitiligo skin the appearance to her face. Is there a cure can remove the effect of vitiligoly's spots phenomenon?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Diploma in Dermatology
Ayurveda, Faridabad
Hello lybrate-user hadi, as your 10 years old daughter facing vitiligo problem, vitiligo is a genetic disorder trigger by indigestion and stressful conditions. There was always confusion in patients mind regarding choosing right treatment approach for vitiligo. Allopathy can give quick results but is not very safe for long term uses if steroids are used. Homeopathic is safe but very slow and in most of cases it can not stop the spread of disease i. E old patches shows some recovery but new white patches continue to come even when we are using homeopathy. If one think abourt using ayurveda there is no good vaidya who is expertise in vitiligo. At kayakalp global we have integrated external allopathic applications with internal ayurvedic medication to give fast and long lasting results. Ayurvedic herbal medicines are used to purify blood and stop the spread of disease and external application are capable of quickly start regimentation. For detail replies regarding 1. Causes of vitiligo 2. Is it genetic or can it spread to next generation 3. Causes of spread of disease after it remains stable for some years 4. Should we use homeopathy, allopathy or ayurveda. You can contact clinic you can send pictures of vitiligo effected parts extra use of haldi and vit. C should be avoided in vitiligo.

No need to fear. Its a very simple surgery. Get it done by pediatric surgeon only. Not by routine surgeon. If you do not do it timely then certainly future may give you worry. As testicles can not tolerate 1 degree higher temperature of tummy. Regards.

I am 28 year old women Mujhe ek ladki hui hai Jo 2 mahine ki hai Mai use dud pila rahi thi To mujhe mere boobs mai dard hone laga To mujhe pata chala ki mere ek boobs mai ganth si ho rahi hai jisse mujhe dard hai Ye kis Baje se hai Or mai kya karu.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
Get your self checked by obstetrician to ascertain cause of Ganth. Aise aapako sahee pata chal jayega aur uchit upchar ho jayga. Bachche ko dusare boob se dudh pilate rahe aur yadi dard sahan karane layak hai to ganth walee boob se bhee dudh playe. Doctor ko avashay dikhale.
