I hv pain in my lower teeth right in the middle. Dentist said it is immune problem. Can not be cured. Wht should be done now?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

I today had my rct done completely of my molar tooth. The doc said to come after 1 month for cap. I am feeling little little pain in my tooth. Does does it a sign of an infection left inside please tell me or else it is natural.

BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
After rct there is little pain that is due to instrument pain no worry but if the pain didn't come down after 4 days also than you need to inform your dentist to check whether there is any infection, but do not go for crown when you have pain.

daily oral care
Twice a day brushing is important part of oral hygeine. You can even use mouthwash to add in the benifit. Use soft tooth brush. Use gentle round motion to clean teeth. Take 10 minutes in morning and night to clean your teeth. Also give equal importance to clean tongue daily. Do gargles after each meal. This will help to loosen the food particles and prevent bad breath n cavity formation. And very important part is visit your dentist every six months.

I'm 19 years old and I'm getting mouth wounds often and I've tried using zytee but still no effect. I'm having ulcer and it has been diagnosed I don't know if the mouth wound is due to ulcer.

Hi mouth ulcers can vary is size, shape and number. Mouth ulcers are self limiting, which means they heal naturally by themselves. The medications are only to ease the pain and burning sensation during the course of the healing. Please do not self prescribe any medications as it might at times delay the healing of the ulcer. Please visit the dentist to know exactly the type of the ulcer and its treatment. To ease the pain you cud by a topical anaesthetic gel and apply it before eating anything spicy. Try to reduce the stress, avoid long exposure to sunlight, avoid carbonated drinks and citrus fruits and juices containing citric acid, avoid lemon with food and keep urself hydrated. Please visit the dentist for exact diagnosis and treatment.

Hi, I had the second tooth from the back lower right removed 3 days ago. My gums and front teeth are now itching and on edge. And the gums directly above the extraction feel a bit sore. Is this normal following and extraction? The area where the tooth has been removed is fine and appears to be.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Drink lots of fluid and eat nutritious soft food on the day of the extraction. You can eat normally as soon as you are comfortable. Eat soft foods, such as soup, pudding, yogurt, or applesauce the day after the extraction. You will be fine in few days.

Inflammation in the gums gives birth to a mild form of gum disease known as gingivitis. But it can be treated easily by brushing and flossing daily and getting dental cleaning done regularly.

Got my wisdom tooth extracted 5 days back still severe pain till head is there. Doctor says pain should have gone by now. Can it be something serious?

BDS, MDS Prosthodontics
Dentist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user, There should not be any problem if the complete tooth has been done. But there may be a chance of dry socket which may have formed due to blood clot dislodgement after extraction. Do not take any antibiotics only take painkillers. It will resolve in 15-20 days.

Brush twice a day and floss daily even when your braces are on. The food particles get stuck into the braces very easily. It is very important to keep them clean.

I have episodes of mouth ulcers on and off. I've heard that it's a sign of vitamin B complex deficiency. Any solution?

MDS
Dentist, Kota
There are plenty of reasons and plenty of solutions available for this problem. Specific solution needs so many conditions to rule out. In general you take vitamins supplements, drink plenty of water, reduce stress and apply topical gel for relief.
