wanted to to know about meningitis. It cause, symptoms, treatment, medicine.

BHMS
Homeopath,
wanted to to know about meningitis. It cause, symptoms, treatment, medicine.
Meningitis signs and symptoms may develop over several hours or over one or two days. The signs and symptoms that may occur in anyone older than age of 2 include: Sudden high fever Severe headache that isn't easily confused with other types of headache Stiff neck Vomiting or nausea with headache Confusion or difficulty concentrating Seizures Sleepiness or difficulty waking up Sensitivity to light Lack of interest in drinking and eating Skin rash in some cases, such as in meningococcal meningitis Signs in newborns Newborns and infants may not have the classic signs and symptoms of headache and stiff neck. Instead, signs of meningitis in this age group may include: High fever Constant crying Excessive sleepiness or irritability Inactivity or sluggishness Poor feeding A bulge in the soft spot on top of a baby's head (fontanel) Stiffness in a baby's body and neck Infants with meningitis may be difficult to comfort, and may even cry harder when picked up. Meningitis usually results from a viral infection, but the cause may also be a bacterial infection. Less commonly, a fungal infection may cause meningitis. Because bacterial infections are the most serious and can be life-threatening, identifying the source of the infection is an important part of developing a treatment plan. Homoeopathic Treatment: The medicine is given as per the signs and symptoms of a patient (totality of the patient) for which detailed case history is required.

I have seen people using tablet PERACITAMOL whenever they feel something like fever. Are they doing right thing OR They should consult to DOCTOR first !

MBBS, DGO (cal)
General Physician,
You are absolutely right. One should not abuse any medicine. However Paracetamol is relatively safer Analgesic & Antipyretic. It can be taken 1 tab 6 to 8 hourly after taking food for two three days are not harmful for the person who is not allergic to it or otherwise healthy, means do not have any chronic Kidney or Liver disease. Yet frequent use, taking in empty stomach may cause health problem.

If something doesn't suit you then you have to avoid it to take precautions so that infection doesn't happen rather than treating it because repeated stomach infections can give you permanent stomach problems which nobody wants.

Because of family problems. You are affected with depressive thoughts. You need rest. You are frustrating internally. It is called post trauma stress. You need friendly support that may not available in home always worrying about family matters. Better to take the help of your parents and relatives. Express your internal problems with them. Do not be alone. Everyone have problems. You are repeatedly thinking alone it may cause depressiveness. Because depressive thoughts your mood also swings time to time. Please do not sit alone. Share the problems with others. Take good food. Take rest most of the time. Do not think too much about your husband. He is not understand your problems then why do you give much priority to husband words. Leave it or take it easy. Give priority for yourself. Ok best wishes always with you. Ok best of luck.

General Physician, Mumbai
What should my diet to be fit and healthy? As I am a student how much time I should sleep?
Ideal sleep duration is six or seven hours in a day. If not following this duration, then you may follow gradually by 15 minutes change till you can reach the duration of six or seven hours in a day. To be fit and healthy, I personally suggest that you make vegetables and fruits as your daily food habits but it is for you to decide.

I addicted of masturbation its make me tired and sleepy I tried many methods but not get any solution please hepl me fast.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
I addicted of masturbation its make me tired and sleepy I tried many methods but not get any solution please hepl me ...
Excessive masturbation around 5 to 6 times a day can get addictive and cause you loss of concentration in doing your regular activities and prevent you from doing your job and study. The appropriate masturbation frequency is 2 to 3 times a week and not more than once in a day. You can do other activities like listening to music, talking to friends and reading a book when you get masturbation thoughts. This will help you to control masturbation. There is no need to stop masturbation completely as it is a normal behavior when done within limits. Please do not worry.

8 Common Migraine Triggers You Must Stay Away From

DM - Neurology, MD - General Medicine, MBBS

8 Common Migraine Triggers You Must Stay Away From
8 Common migraine triggers you need to know about

A neurological disease that occurs mostly on one side of the head, migraine is a severe headache that is characterised by a variety of symptoms, ranging from nausea and disturbed vision to sensitivity to light. Since the triggers of a migraine are many, it can be difficult to identify the exact cause of your pulsating headache.

Here are some of the common stimulants associated with migraine:

1. Fasting: Not taking proper meals, insufficient liquid intake and fasting can be a major trigger towards headaches and migraine. It could be associated to lowered blood glucose levels. Skipping meals or fasting must be completely avoided.

2. Sleep: Sleep can also be a trigger factor as well as a preventive factor for migraines. You can suffer from a migraine attack if you sleep too little or too much. Migraine caused by sleep problems usually arises when the brain’s serotonin (a compound that constricts blood vessels) production experiences a fluctuation, and there is a reduction of dopamine (a neurotransmitter that helps in the transmission of signals) levels. While the former neurotransmitter is necessary for regulating your sleep cycle, the latter is vital for helping you to focus. Several studies reveal that developing good sleep habits can bring about a reduction in the intensity as well as number of migraine attacks.

3. Stress: Another common migraine trigger is stress. Emotions like sadness, worry, shock and anxiety can cause migraine attacks as they bring about the release of migraine causing brain chemicals. At the same time, it is also commonly reported that a migraine may occur right after a stressful period, usually during the weekends, and is therefore called a weekend headache.

4. Food: Several studies show that migraines triggered by food occur in 10% of the world population. Many of the food items that cause a migraine attack contain a substance called tyramine or phenylethylamine. This substance can cause the nerve cells of your brain to release a chemical called norepinephrine. The increased quantity of the two (tyramine and norepinephrine) can lead to migraine attacks. These amino acids are present in aged cheese, chocolates, citrus fruits, nuts and soy foods.

5. Caffeine: Too much caffeine consumption can cause you to have a migraine attack. Ideally, you shouldn’t have more than 2 cups of caffeinated drinks (like coffee, tea and cola) a day to prevent yourself from experiencing migraine headaches.

6. Computer screens/ Sunlight: Sitting in front of your computer screen for a long time can trigger a migraine attack. It happens as muscle tension builds up around your head, neck and shoulder areas. To prevent the problem from occurring, you need to take regular breaks, use good lighting, and anti-glare screens.

7. Alcohol: Certain alcohols like red wine, beer, vermouth, and sherry contain substances such as tyramine, phenylethylamine, histamine, sulphites, and flavonoid phenols, all of which have been known to trigger migraine attacks. Red wine is considered to be the worst trigger, and you should avoid it if you suffer from migraine.

8. Exercise: Like sleep, even exercise has been reported to cause as well as prevent migraines. Exercising in a moderate and regular manner is known to prevent the onset of migraine.By doing so, you end up stimulating the release of the body’s natural painkillers, while improving your overall health. On the other hand, by exercising vigorously and without prior planning, your body’s demand for oxygen increases significantly, triggering an attack.

What are the symptoms of dengue? how can it be cured? what are the medicine for dengue.

AUTLS, CCEDM, MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
What are the symptoms of dengue? how can it be cured? what are the medicine for dengue.
The principal symptoms of dengue are: -high fever and at least two of the following: -severe headache -severe eye pain (behind eyes) -joint pain -muscle and/or bone pain -rash -mild bleeding manifestation (nose or gum bleed, petechiae, or easy bruising) Watch for warning signs as temperature declines 3 to 5 days after symptoms/fever began, as this is the most dangerous period when platelet counts decline significantly. Report immediately to hospital if any of the following warning signs appear: -severe abdominal pain or persistent vomiting -red spots or patches on the skin -bleeding from nose or gums -vomiting blood -black, tarry stools  -drowsiness or irritability -pale, cold, or clammy skin -difficulty breathing There is no specific medication for treatment of a dengue infection. -Use analgesics with acetaminophen (crocin or dolo -650 mg) and avoid those containing ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin or aspirin containing drugs. -Take rest, drink plenty of fluids like coconut water, lime water etc.to prevent dehydration. -Avoid visiting heavily populated residential areas, if possible. -Use mosquito repellents/mosquito nets when indoors.  -When outdoors, wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants tucked into socks.
