Dr. Prakash Agarwal after graduating from SCB Medical College, Cuttack went to Mumbai for his higher training in Paediatric Surgery. He passed out his MCh from Mumbai University and worked as a lecturer in TN Medical College for 3 years. He was associated with Prof. Sanjay Oak and Rasik Shah  in setting up of the 1st laparoscopic surgical unit in a Paediatric teaching hospital in Mumbai. Since then his quest for Paediatric laparoscopic surgery took him all over the world to master his skills further.
From Mumbai he went on to work with world leaders like Prof. Hock Tan at Adelaide in Australia as a fellow in Paediatric Laparoscopic surgery. He then went on to work at The Starship Children's hospital, Auckland, New Zealand for a year as a senior fellow in Paediatric Laparoscopic Surgery.
Presently he is working as Professor & Head of Paediatric Surgery at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai and Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at The Apollo hospital, Chennai. Over the last 20 years he has been associated with over 10000 laparoscopic cases in Children. He has established himself as a Paediatric Laparoscopic Surgeon in the National arena and was the executive member of the Paediatric Endosurgeons group of India (PESI). He was the Hony. Secretary cum Treasurer of Paediatric Endosurgeons group of India (PESI). He was the executive member of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons from. He was the Hony Secretary of the Indian Association of Pedaitric Surgeons (IAPS) from 2017-2019. He has organized many National and International workshops and the 2nd PESI meeting organized at SRMC was a runaway success. He has over 50 National and International publications with 4 books published to his credit. He was instrumental in the publication of IAPS Textbook of Pediatric Surgery during his tenure as the Secretary of IAPS.
