If baby is gaining weight appropriate to his age n passing urine 6 to 8 times in a day sleeping well, it indicates that milk is sufficient for baby. Exclusive breastfeeding maintain appropriate lactation. If you have any queries please contact me privately through Lybrate.

One lady if stopping the feeding their child then what is precaution required to lady.

MBBS, MD

Nothing much. It should be gradual withdrawal for child and mother. Child should be made to ear|drink thin soup. Gradual withdrawal will not bring breast discomfort.

My girl child is 7 years old. Her weight is 45 kg. He suffers illness two times every year like fever, cough, nose block etc. But she is very much active. She sweat very much. Her belly is too much fat.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
It's quite normal to have 2 to 3 times illness in a year. You must try to reduce her weight as obesity is associated with various health problems like diabetes, hypertension etc. Some children have a tendency to sweat more. In your child it may improve with reduction in the weight.

Don't worry. Breastfed babies may pass seven eight times stools per day or once in four five days. Both are normal if child is playful, active and putting on weight. When child does not pass stool daily, she should pass gas daily, so that we know it's not obstruction and doesn't need any treatment. Obstruction requires immediate medical attention. Constipated stools will be hard and will cause pain while passing where as normal stools passed after four five days will be soft and will have normal consistency.

Is it possible in case of lactating mother that she is producing milk but doesn't get single drop on pump? If yes what's the reason behind that?

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
We consider breast secretion as adequate, when exclusively breastfed baby passes clear urine six seven times in twenty four hours, is growing well (putting on weight) and is active, playful.

My son says that his right side nipple is paining while sleeping. What may be the reason? He has no fever, no swelling any where in body. Nothing. Is there any serious issue?

DNB (Pediatrics), MBBS
Pediatrician, Mohali
Hi, thanks for contacting me on lybrate. At his age, nipple pain is generally a mild problem that does not need specific treatment. If it persists, a pediatric evaluation for any trauma, inflammation etc, may be done. However, in most cases, this will disappear after some time. Warm fomentation and reassurance will generally help in a majority of cases. Warm regards.

My son 4 yr old he had slight stammering some times otherwise he talk normally when some fears in his mind he stammering continueously give me suggestion for treatment.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Support him, talk to him with compassion. Assure him that when you are there to help him, nothing will hurt him & everything will be okay. You can help him to express his fear, whenever he feels, there by reducing it's impact. If you take care of his emotions and support, assure him, stammering will disappear.

The MPS Diseases. The Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are rare genetic disorders in children and adults. They involve an abnormal storage of mucopolysaccharides, caused by the absence of a specific enzyme. Without the enzyme, the breakdown process of mucopolysaccharides is incomplete. The life expectancy of these individuals is 10 to 20 years. Individuals with mild MPS II also have a shortened lifespan, but they typically live into adulthood and their intelligence is not affected. Heart disease and airway obstruction are major causes of death in people with both types of MPS II.

Dandruf or seborrhic dermatitis is common in small babies. Often it needs no treatment. You can leave it alone and it will disappear with time. You just need to wash the baby's hair daily and keep it clean. Any baby shampoo is fine.
