Ent specialist or pediatrician, both r equally competent to treat. U may consult any one. If any intervention is required, ent specialist can do it. For passing stool problem, give her fibrous food good quantity of water. Gud (गुड़) in stead of refined sugar may be helpful. Train her for toileting habit.

Bonding of my baby with father: Should I do something extra?

Bonding of my baby with father: Should I do something extra?

The bonding between parents and baby is complicated and often takes time to gel. While some dads connect with their baby within the early days of birth, it may take a little longer for others and that s perfectly normal. Fathers often assume that the mother will naturally have a stronger bond with the baby than you will. As long as they spend more time with the baby, a bond will develop between the two of them. Certain things that you can do to strengthen the bond between your baby and your partner are as follows:

Develop a baby bond by spending time: Start early and make him talk or sing to your pregnant belly often. This establishes a strong connection before the baby is even born. This helps your newborn to recognize the tone and pattern of each of your voices, later on.

Develop skin contact: Make him hold the baby whenever possible.Stroking their back or rocking them gently in arms invokes a sense of protection and comfort in your baby's mind. This is the best way to bond. The best is when the baby ends up sleeping and resting in the arms of the father. The baby starts to feel secure and comfortable in their presence.

Tell him to help you: Ask him to help you with bathing, dressing, and changing diapers of the baby. A father's involvement in the baby's life is essential. It not just helps the mother but also makes the father an active participant.

Let him burn the mid night oil: Let him to take up the night duty. Ask him to pick up and bring the baby to you for feedings and then take the baby back for burping. This would not only enhance their bonding but also let help you relax a bit.

Let him joke around: Fathers can soothe a crying baby extremely well. Babies pacify instantly, when the parents make funny, silly faces to make them smile.

Encourage a baby's day out: Babies love fresh air, let your partner carry and take them out for a stroll around the block.

Encourage touch: Babies respond to touch. Let him give the baby a massage for 10 to 15 minutes by gently rubbing their legs, belly, arms, and neck.

Be there: Encourage him to make it part of his daily routine, to set aside time every night to play with your little baby.

Attachment is an interactive process. You don't have to be a perfect parent all of the time in order to bond with your baby. Just do your best, and don't worry!

You need to worry and et the child evaluated if the child has persistant vomiting after falling from bed. If it was a single episode and if child is active, need not worry. It might be just a coincidence.

My 18 months girl baby do not speak or identify things. She loves music and enjoy some particular songs. She is very active and can say two three words only. She is fond of TV and phone. We are worried as she didn't show interest in speaking like other child of her age. Please suggest. Thank you.

All kids are different so is there learning capacity. She is too young don't get panic few kids take more time than other to start show her rhymes and try to speak with her as much as possible. T.V and Phone should not be used for longer time instead take her to park where she is able to play and speak with other kids. Once she start going to school she will be unstoppable so don't worry.

My daughter is 5.6years old. Her first lower incisor is budding, but the respective milk tooth hasn't fall down. What should I do?

Hi, nothing to do if the milk tooth is not bothering the growth and the direction of the permanent tooth otherwise need to get the milk tooth extracted if it's hindering the growth and direction. Talk to your dentist.

Hello doctors, we're in the process of relocating to different country which is of extreme chill climate upto (-10) degrees. Our current location has about 30 degrees. My query is that, how safe is it for our baby (7 months) in regards to the relocation from current 30 degrees to (-30) degrees. Thanks and appreciate in anticipation.

Its safe for your baby to relocate. No issues untill and unless he /she is suffering from any existing health issues like chest infection or else if you are going to higher altitudes. Prevent him /her from excess cold ,dress well. It will be difficult for the baby to adjust initially and chances of getting cold, cough and others are more. But later baby will adapt to the same. If any existing issues consult a pediatrician before.

Thumb Sucking

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Thumb Sucking

Most children stop sucking on thumbs, pacifiers or other objects on their own between 2 and 4 years of age. No harm is done to their teeth or jaws until permanent teeth start to erupt. The only time it might cause concern is if it goes on beyond 6 to 8 years of age. At this time, it may affect the shape of the oral cavity or dentition.
Thumbsucking leads to Open bite, a high arched palate because of the pressure created in the mouth . This habit can also cause the maxillary central incisors to tip labially and the mandibilar incisors to tip lingually as the thumb rests on them during the course of sucking. Aside from the damaging physical aspects of thumb sucking, there are also additional risks, which unfortunately, are present at all ages. These include increased risk of infection from communicable diseases, due to the simple fact that non-sterile thumbs are covered with infectious agents, as well as many social implications. Some children experience social difficulties, as often children are taunted by their peers for engaging in what they can consider to be an “immature” habit. This taunting often results the child being rejected by the group or being subjected to ridicule by their peers, which can cause understandable psychological stress.

To prevent their children from sucking their thumbs some parents use bitterants or piquant substances on their child's hands.Parents could get a series of sharp prongs known as "hay-rakes" cemented to a child's teeth to discourage sucking

Praise children for not sucking, instead of scolding them when they do.
If a child is sucking its thumb when feeling insecure or needing comfort, focus instead on correcting the cause of the anxiety and provide comfort to your child.
If a child is sucking on its thumb because of boredom, try getting the child's attention with a fun activity.
Involve older children in the selection of a means to cease thumb sucking.
The pediatric dentist can offer encouragement to a child and explain what could happen to its teeth if it does not stop sucking.
Only if these tips are ineffective, remind the child of its habit by bandaging the thumb or putting a sock/glove on the hand at night.

It is important to know if you are bottle feeding. Then stop bottle and give only breast milk to a 3 month old. Give enuff powder, 1 sachet dissolved in clean water twice a day. Keep in touch with me for regular advice on child rearing.
