Hello Doctor. My son is 16 months now. He is extremely hyperactive child, showing the following symptoms- 1) He doesn't like to play with toys. He just likes climbing on tables, chairs and window grills.  2) If we get him new toys, he will just see it for a few minutes and then throw it away.  3) He wants to be out of the house all time. He cry's to go with any unknown person when they are leaving the house.  4) If we keep him out, he will just start walking. He will not even care to see if we are there with him or not.  5) He is very impatient for something he likes. For example he is very restless while feeding him oranges. He will not allow you to peel it. He just wants it immediately and will hit you if you don't give him fast. 5) Although we keep talking to him, till now he doesn't utter any words, no actions like'bye' etc. He only yells aloud. 6) He just cannot sit in one place and needs someone constantly. If you don't play with him even for a few minutes, he will put his head on the floor and start moaning in frustration. 7) He has been a troublesome child right from birth. Hardly used to sleep for just a few minutes during the whole day and night. Now, although his sleeping pattern has improved during the nights. During the day he still sleeps less. Probably around 1 hour if at all he sleeps. 8) When he was smaller, around 9-12 months, he used to watch television advertisements with great attention. He would not blink his eyes even if you nudge him or pat him lightly on his head. This is the only thing that grabs his attention, even now. Doctor, is my child showing signs of any disorder or is it too early to predict? Does he need any treatment? please help. Thanks.

You should give your baby only breast milk or iron-fortified formula during the first 12 months of life, not cow's milk. Starting at age 6 months, you may add solid foods to your baby's diet. Cow milk is not suitable for human child and should not be given before 1years of life.

Chronic Urticaria - 7 Tips To Deal With It!

Chronic Urticaria - 7 Tips To Deal With It!

Are you looking for ways to deal with chronic urticaria? This is an uncomfortable skin health condition which is featured by red, itchy welts appearing on any part of your body. The cause of this condition is unknown to us most of the times. When the cause of chronic urticaria cannot be determined, the condition is called chronic idiopathic urticaria. There are several ways of dealing with this condition.

Here is a list of the top ways to deal with chronic urticaria:

  1. Try to Avoid Known Triggers: Avoiding known triggers is the best way of controlling chronic urticaria. You should consult an allergist for determining the triggers which might affect you. The most common triggers include foods such as eggs, shellfish, peanuts, and several food additives. Several pain medications, physical stimuli like temperature, exercise, pollen, and certain bacterial infections and viral infections are common triggers.

  2. Take Your Medicines Regularly: You should regularly take your medicines prescribed for dealing with chronic urticaria. Antihistamines are commonly used. The use of corticosteroids or epinephrine infections may also be required.

  3. Soothe Your Skin: Scratching is bad for your chronic urticaria and should be avoided to prevent the hives from being aggravated. Dry skin triggers scratching and so you should keep your skin well moisturised. Take frequent baths, and use moisturising creams and ointments.

  4. Wear Loose Clothes: Friction and pressure on your affected skin may worsen the hives. You should abstain from wearing tight belts, constricting clothes, and shoes which do not fit well. Choose soft fabric material clothes.

  5. Vitamin D Supplements: Adding vitamin D supplements may help in reducing the symptoms of chronic urticaria. You should consult your dermatologist before taking vitamin D supplements on your own.

  6. Alternative Therapies: Stress accounts for worsening this health condition. You should practice techniques which relax your mind and soul, such as meditation, yoga, and deep breathing. These are effective in stress relief. Some studies state that acupuncture may also be associated with decreasing the symptoms of chronic urticaria.

  7. Manage Your Symptoms: If you are suffering from chronic urticaria, all your efforts will be directed towards managing all the visible symptoms. However, you must also deal with the invisible symptoms such as depression and anxiety. Living with this condition is a challenging and painful task, which often results in depression, and emotional imbalance. Emotional stress, fatigue, and emotional distress are triggered by chronic urticaria.

It is important for you to consult a dermatologist if you experience any symptom of chronic urticaria. Early diagnosis and an early treatment will prevent the condition from worsening further. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

I have vaccinated my son with HIB vaccine and hepatitis A vaccine yesterday. Today morning he had fever. Is that vaccine causes fever or he had any virus infection?

Hi lybrate-user, Vaccines usually cause fever for 24 to 48 hours after administration of Vaccine. If the fever is persisting beyond this period or associated with other symptoms like cold, cough, throat pain, loose stools, then we can think other reasons such as Viral infections. Hope I have answered your query. Regards,

Hi lybrate-user! Good that you have come forward to find a solution for your son at this initial stage, bcoz this problem has to be sorted out as soon as possible. First you need to encourage him to talk with neighbours from small age to Adults, keep encouraging. Try to make him participate in social activities. Slowly you can find out boys of his kind to interact, allow him to interact. Just closely watch his behavior, try to find if he has any different kind of behavior that affects him from having a healthy relationship. First encourage him to make friends with guys who are also comfortable and adjusting with his relationship. If any problem try to correct him by talking to him in a friendly way. Just teach him how he needs to have friends. If you still find there is difficulty in him getting along with others, you can seek a Professional Psychologist help to overcome this problem at your locality. If you are interested you can contact me either through text chat or online consultation yes you are most welcome. The more you allow him to interact with guys of good character, he will definitely find good friends, but you can monitor him for some days just to help or train him to find friends. No worries. Console him. Bring confidence in him. Do not allow him to feel for unnecessary things (though it is necessary he need not feel since this can be solved) With regards,
