Dr. I am a very anxiety prone person. As a result, I hav suffered a lot in lyf. I hav been diagnosed to suffer from ocd wich in my case is not typical ocd as I do not hav compulsion to keep doing a particular thing repeatedly I am having Clonil -75 SR for almost 20 years n this medicine has helped me lot. Besides it I take serlift 100, Etilaam,0.5 mg n pregalin Wat shud b my approach to get rid of these medication. I am also having hypothyroidism for wich I take 100 m.mg thyronorm.

MBBS, DPM
Psychiatrist, Bangalore
Dear lybrate-user, it is good that you are able to tolerate the medicines and kept the ocd without any rituals. I hope that you are keeping your thyroid (tsh) also in balance. Along with these medicines, you need cognitive therapy from me or any clinical psychologist. You need to question and challenge the negative thoughts like" I have suffered a lot in life" I have ocd" I have hypothyroid also" these kind of thoughts come up due to certain errors you make in your thought process. You need to find them, correct them gradually during the therapy and challenge them later in therapy. All these sessions will be along with the same drugs in same dose and 100 mcg of thyronorm. As you go along other drugs will be reduced whereas thyronorm will be for life.

Violence in a Relationship - 5 Warning Signs Of It!

Violence in a Relationship - 5 Warning Signs Of It!

Relationships are either delicate or strong, depending upon the bonding you share with your partner. The bonding depends on various factors. Some of the most essential ones being emotional attachment, friendliness, sense of ease, mental compatibility and a feeling of sustained emotional support from the relationship. This is applicable to all relationships; be it a relationship with your spouse, a parental relation with your children, a relationship with your friends, relatives, etc.

However, it is a common factor that every relationship requires a definite level of friendship, understanding and trust to sustain. However, sometimes you may find eventual signs of distance or detachment, which could be signals of potential violence in the relationship.

  1. Sense of complete possession: This is a vital factor that intricately works behind initiating violence in relationships. Possessiveness is a form of extreme emotional condition. A sense of possessiveness lies in every relation. However, over possessiveness leads you to restrict your loved one to share his love with anyone else. It can even be severe when you may even dislike your loved one talking to anyone else. Therefore, it may lead to eventual abuse or violence in the relationship.
  2. Distrust: Trust and belief are essential elements in any relation. If you tend to lose trust on someone, you can hardly be normal in the relationship. Disbelief results in doubt and continued doubt and resistance lead you to react violently. If you constantly disbelief a person, you are ought to react out of your general personality sometime.
  3. Abuse: Use of abusive language may be a strong indication of emerging distance in a relation. A person indulges in using abusive language out of anger and frustration, both of which could be major signals of potential violence in the near future. Both abusive language and physical violence are considered as forms of violence. Therefore, initial signs of abuses should be considered immediately.
  4. Dominance: In every relationship where two persons are involved, you will usually find any one of them to be dominant. However, that is acceptable until the dominance is within a certain limit. However, if it crosses the limits of patience and acceptability, it may sometimes result in violence.
  5. Short temper Attitude: If any one of the involved persons in the relationship is short tempered, it will definitely be a lead reason of miscommunication or insufficient communication. Short tempered individuals are mostly characterised with low patience. If you do not have patience, you can never offer understanding. And above that, short-tempered attitude can be an additional disadvantage. These types of individuals fail to control their anxiety and can often be violent in relationships.

What you are going through is greaving. Loosing loved one is not easy to deal with emotionally. I am sorry for your loss. When you are greaving, your mind is continuously engaged in sad and disturbing thoughts and feeling of loss and perhaps guilt. When sadness over powers you it is difficult to feel any other feelings. Even feeling happy makes you feel guilty and uneasy. Slow but effective way to over cone sadness is to engage yourself in some neutral activities such as cleaning. Walking or readjng a light book. Once you try that for few days you may be ready for following things. There are few things I would like you to try. 1. When you feel sad. Feel the feeling of sadness fully. You may close your eyes and let that sadness flow through your mind and body. If tears flow let them flow. Cry it out. Feeling what you feel fully and totally is healing. Once you feel your sadness fully. You might feel the lightness in your heart. Feel that too and say out loud. How wonderful! and engage your mind remembering some good qualities and good times you spent with the person you are missing. 2. Regular simple breath awareness meditation also help manage your loss. 3. You may also l write daily 3 to 5 things you are grateful to every morning. These things could be as simple as having a bed to sleep and food to eat. Affirm what you write and add new thing in your list for 7 to10 days. If you are not feeling any change over next 2 weeks or if you lack motivation to initiate and maintain above activities hope this helps wishing you very best.

Better see a good head and neck or ENT surgeon. They need to take detailed history and examine you to rule out oral or laryngopharyngeal causes of bleeding. Also they need to rule out hemoptysis (from lung) or hematemesis (from stomach) Feel free to contact me directly if you want to discuss this further.

Whenever we are having some discussion, at some points, she usually gets angry, and start talking loudly, and sometimes shouts. Is there any problem with her? She sometimes try to hit herself in these situations, or damages something. She herself says that this is not right! What should we do? Whom to consult? Is there any deficiency?

Frequent anger outbursts and inability to control them can be a part of underlying personality problems, impulse control disorders or mood disorders. This can also occur due to hormonal imbalances and vitamin deficiency. If these problems have became frequent then you should not hesitate to consult a psychiatrist for treatment and counselling.
