Dear lybrateuser, - From the description of your pain get your x- ray chest, ECG, tmt done if not done so - if you have already done & there is no abnormality then your pain is due to acidity - follow some precautions, do not skip meals, have meals on time, chew your food well, have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals, avoid spicy, fried & junk food, avoid more than 1-2 cups of tea/ coffee per day, do not lye down for atleast one hour after meals, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime, have 7-8 glasses of water for proper digestion - take syrup gelusil, 2 teaspoonful half an hour after meals three times a day.

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow — the spongy tissue inside bones where blood cells are made. The term "chronic" in chronic lymphocytic leukemia comes from the fact that it typically progresses more slowly than other types of leukemia. Prognosis and survival for chronic lymphocytic leukemia. People with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) may have questions about their prognosis and survival. Prognosis and survival depend on many factors. A prognosis is the doctor's best estimate of how cancer will affect a person, and how it will respond to treatment. The side effects of chemotherapy depend on the individual and the dose used, but they can include fatigue, risk of infection, nausea and vomiting, hair loss, loss of appetite, and diarrhea. These side effects usually go away once treatment is finished. Angioplasty is a procedure to open narrowed or blocked blood vessels that supply blood to the heart. These blood vessels are called the coronary arteries. A coronary artery stent is a small, metal mesh tube that expands inside a coronary artery. Age is certainly a consideration for such strenuous surgery. Research shows older people are more likely to die during or after the operation than younger patients. And elderly patients who survive a bypass can expect longer recovery times.

I am 29 years old. I am suffering from improper breathing problems. I tend to hold breath unconsciously. I also experience poor posture and anxiety stress. My body is imbalanced especially while driving. This problem exists from childhood and I ignored it fr long time. My bone xray were normal as said by ortho. Any advice.

This anxiety stress that you mention is related to fear. If you deal with the fear, even your body skewing will get rectified with some help with physical exercises. Since this has been there from childhood, talk to your parents to identify what fearful situation you may have experienced inadvertently. Armed with that information do meet up with a counselor and take care of that for gradual relief.

First Aid: at the Time of Heart Attack

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine)
Internal Medicine Specialist, Delhi
First Aid: at the Time of Heart Attack

There was a time when only the elderly were at risk for a heart attack. Today however, anyone can have a heart attack. Symptoms of an oncoming heart attack are often misunderstood. When it comes to first aid for a heart attack, every second is precious and hence it is important to be clear about what a heart attack looks and feels like.

Here are a few symptoms of heart attacks to look out for.

  • Feeling of weight on the chest
  • Stomach pain with nausea and heartburn
  • Radiating pain on the left side of the body, particularly on the arm
  • Dizziness and shortness of breath
  • Pain that moves from the chest to the throat and jaw
  • Extreme exhaustion and weakness
  • Cold sweat

The first thing to do if you or someone around you experiences a heart attack is to call a doctor. Call emergency services and ask for an ambulance to be sent at the earliest. Lie down and try to relax. Any form of exertion can worsen the situation. If you are alone, do not attempt to drive yourself anywhere. If an ambulance cannot get to you, ask someone around to drive you to the doctor.

Chewing on an aspirin immediately after a heart attack can help save a life. Aspirin has blood thinning properties that can increase the supply of blood to the heart. Studies have shown that chewing an aspirin is better than simply swallowing it in case of a heart attack.

If the patient loses consciousness at any point, check their heart rate. In case the person's heart stops beating attempt to perform CPR to restart the heart. This can restore partial supply of oxygenated blood to the heart. To perform CPR have the patient lie down on the ground and kneel beside them. Place your right palm on the center of their chest and place the left hand over it while interlocking the fingers. Keep your arms straight as you press down on the chest at regular intervals. Try and achieve 100 compressions a minute.

Living a healthy lifestyle can lower the risk of suffering from a heart attack. Cholesterol is one of the most common triggers of a heart attack. Eat a diet rich in fiber and low in fats and salt content can lower your cholesterol levels. This combined with regular exercise can also help maintain a healthy BMI that would in turn lower the risk of having a heart attack.
