Acne - Its Causes And Available Treatment Options!

A skin condition that is quite common in adolescence is acne. The term acne refers to a skin condition where the hair follicles become clogged with oil from the skin and the dead skin cells, resulting in blackheads, whiteheads, and bumps that are commonly called pimples.

Often referred to as acne vulgaris, this skin condition is characterized by oily skin and scarring that the pimples left behind. Though usually common in young adults and teenagers, acne is a long-term skin disease that can affect anyone.

Causes-
A number of reasons can be responsible for acne invasion. Here are some of the most common causes:

  1. Excessive oil production: The skin on the shoulders, face, and neck has the maximum oil glands present. Therefore, excessive oil production of these glands leads to pore clogging, increasing the chances of having acne.
  2. Skin irritation: Sometimes, skin irritation can also lead to acne invasion. From prolonged exposure to the sun to pressure on the skin, for example, holding a mobile against the face or wearing tight clothes, or applying makeups consisting harsh chemicals can trigger this skin problem.
  3. Hormonal imbalance: The sex hormones being responsible for the sebum production of the skin, disturbances of the same during due to puberty, pregnancy, menstruation or due to any other health conditions can also make the acne appear.
  4. Medications: Use of certain skin creams or oral medications containing lithium or corticosteroids can also lead to causing acne.

Treatment
The following are the treatment options available for treating acne problem.

  1. Oral medications: Antibiotics, anti-androgen agents, oral contraceptives, and isotretinoin are some of the medication types that are used to prevent acne and to treat existing acne-prone skins.
  2. Topical medications: Topical medications are the most common form of treatment options for dealing with acne. After analyzing the skin condition, skin creams or ointments are prescribed that helps in reducing plugging of the hair follicles which leads to acne.
  3. Skin therapies: Depending on the skin type and the severity of acne, there are various therapies available that can cure acne. From chemical peels to steroid injections, photodynamic and laser therapies and extraction of whiteheads and blackheads are there to be used alone or in a combination with other treatment methods. When the hormonal imbalances are responsible for acne, hormone therapy may be used as a reliable acne treatment.
  4. Self-care: A few good practices such as protecting the skin from excessive sun exposure and avoiding picking or touching the acne-prone skin area can help in managing and controlling the condition.

Acne can affect facial skin, skin on the back, chest, and the shoulders, and can result in white or dark spots and scars on the affected area. Often causing embarrassment and irritation, the condition, however, can be well-managed with help from your dermatologist.

These are the methods to treat fastly acne - • Imbalance in hormone level causes excessive sebum production and causes acne. So do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging and long breathing exercises. • Do YOGASANA daily. Especially do SINHASANA & SARVANGASANA daily. • Use oil free face wash and drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. • Do not touch your pimple because your finger transfer bacteria to it and make it worse. If you touch it then clean your face with water. * Mix black pepper powder in some water to make paste & apply on the pimples three times a week. • Take cucumber and papaya pulp. Mix it well and add 1 tablespoon Turmeric. Make a paste and apply it on face and leave it for 15 minutes. • Steam your face to open the pores, which in turn clear the skin. Steam your face for a couple of minutes. • Take 2 teaspoon of RAKTASHODAK SYRUP of BAIDYANATH company once a day. Be healthy.

HI, My problem is Acne and pimples problems in face and oily skin. Please suggest me what should I do.
For blackheads and pimples reduction you need to have certain modifications in diet like avoid spicy and oily food, add nutritious food like salads and sprouts, be hydrate, take proper sleep and be stress free. Best Home Remedies to get rid of Acne, Pimples, Dark Spots & oily skin are-- 1. Iced Green Tea- Take a glass of warm water and steep a green tea bag into it. Remove the tea bag and pour the contents into the tray. Place the tray into freezer and allow it to form ice cubes Take one ice-cube and rub all over the face. Green tea contains a high amount of antioxidants that fight free radicals that damages your skin. It has antiseptic properties that killed germs that causes acne and pimples and keep your skin beautiful and healthy. 2. Baking Soda and Lemon Juice Mask- Take a bowl add 2 tablespoon of baking soda and add 1/4 cup of lemon juice to it. Mix it properly to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to the affected area. Let it dry for 5 -10 minutes. Once it dries take some water on your hand and slowly scrub the affected area on your face. Wash your face using luke warm water and pat dry. If your face becomes too dry then apply some antiseptic lotion or moisturiser. Baking soda helps to keep the skin pores clean by removing bacteria and excess oil that causes pimples. Lemon acts as a natural bleach that lightens the skin and remove dark spots. It helps to remove the dead skin and gives a fairer complexion 3. Green Coconut Water- Take a cotton dip it in the coconut water and wipe all over the face. Then wash your face using luke warm water. Wash your face with coconut water continuously every day to get best results. Coconut water has cytokinins and antioxidants that helps to eliminate acne, sagging skin and help deep scar recovery. Drinking Coconut water keeps your skin healthy, smooth and younger looking. 4. Fenugreek (Methi) and Rosewater Mask- Soak a handful of fenugreek (methi) seeds in a bowl of water. Leave them to soak for atleast 5 hours. Grind them in a mixer and make a fine paste. Add few drops of rosewater to it. Apply the paste on your face. Before applying the paste wash your face with warm water so that the pores get opened. Let the pack dry for 15 minutes. Once it completely dries rinse with cold water. Fenugreek has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that stops and reduce growth of pimples, blackheads and other skin infections. It helps in nourishing and rejuvenating the skin. Prevent oily skin 5. Fresh Aloevera Gel- Take the aloevera gel and apply to the face. Keep massaging until the gel started to dry. Once the gel gets completely absorbed wash your face with luke warm water and pat dry. Aloevera contains medicinal and healing properties that helps to heal pimples, rashes and scars. It prevents skin discoloartion that is caused after acne heals. It makes your skin clear and smooth. It kills bacteria that causes skin infection. 6. Sandalwood, Tulsi and Rosewater Mask- Take about 2 tbsp of sandalwood powder in a bowl. Add few crushed Tulsi (Basil) leaves to it. Then mix it properly using few drops of rose water. To prevent pimples, eating fresh fruits, green vegetables, drinking plenty of water should be an essential part of your routine and intake of oily fried foods, an excess of sugar-salt should be avoided. To begin with- Take fruit diet once in a week, which consist of fresh juice, fruits, coconut water and vegetable (green leafy). Warm water enema should be taken daily to clean the bowels and constipation. Take a balanced diet with an alkaline base, which consists of sprouted cereals, whole grain cereals and vegetables. Vitamin a, e and b can be used to treat acne. Green tea and walnuts help to keep your skin pimple free. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day is good for emission of toxin from the body. Always try to include low-fat dairy products in your meal. These are a good source of vitamin a. Homoepathic remedies helps to get rid of pimples, scars without side effects permanently If you have any specific question about your condition, consult for treatment. Dark circles can be due to excessive straining of eyes, lack of sleep or even deficiency of iron etc. Use sunglasses while out in sun, do not rub your eyes, splash cold water frequently. Have vit c rich foods (fresh orange sweet lime juice), pomegranate juice (for iron), 8 - 12 glasses of water. Many treatment options are availble for clearing dark circles a proper evaluation of underlying causes and skin type would be required before taking any oral medicines or treatment.

Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent (which is called as 'Hairloss' rather). In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, may be because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up, subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. (There are different pattern and types of hairloss, because of different reasons like Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium, Scarring Alopecia, Traction Alopecia, etc.) Causes of hairloss: Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or male/ female pattern baldness - hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger, use of bore water, any other underlying diseases, etc. Need to rule out any causative factor or underlying medical condition. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs (it's loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc and Omega 6 fatty acids in large amounts and biotin) , different pulses & legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnuts and almonds); iron-rich food like green vegetables, carrots, prunes, green peas; also oats, shrimp, take flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take low-fat dairy products (they also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources) Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Cover your head with scarf or cap while stepping outside. Use Rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Medication: Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Lycopodium 200/ one dose once a week, Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa Tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from this, take Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. (N.B.: With the help of homoeopathic medicines, we can only prevent further progress of the hairloss, means it will get arrests in the present condition in case of progressive baldness. But, in case there are areas of baldness which has gone smooth and shiny, you will have to choose an option of Hair Transplant along with theses medications!). Investigations advised: Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

Hello, Skin heals in 5-7 days after lasers. But it will be more like redness not a wound. And all the creams and skin care can be done by self. There is no requirement for taking leave as these are sessions and you cannot keep taking leave every time. Discuss with your dermatologist.
