Is thepain only in your back? does it radiate down to legs? if not then you should start focussing on maintaining good posture while working or studying, you shouldn't lie down and study or watch tv. Doe regular back strengthening exercises.

Dear lybrate-user, knee pain can have various reason. I feel you can start having supplements for vit d, calcium and increase your dietary protein content. Later on can go for simple x ray of the knee initiallyand later on may be mri. To know the cause of your knee pain at this young age is important in general if it is a simple knee pain without any injured structure around knee then you can start with with simple knee strengthening exercises, like quadriceps strengthening, hamstrings strengthening, strengthening of the muscles around the hip. Can Thermotherapy Help Manage Achilles Tendon?

Achilles Tendon pain is an orthopedic condition that can originate from tears and ruptures to the AchillesTendon, which is known as one of the strongest and also the longest tendon in the human body. It is a band of tissues that decides the quality of your movements and motions to a great extent, as it connects the heel with the calf. Therefore, any injury to this tendon can decrease the strength and support to the muscles and create a painful situation. So how can you deal with this pain? Read on to know more.

  • Rice Therapy: Rice is a commonly used term by orthopedic specialist. It refers to Rest, Ice, Compression with a bandage, and finally Elevation. The patient must take lots of rest as well as use ice packs to deal with the injury and acute pain. Finally, the area must be compressed with a bandage and kept elevated on cushions.
  • Surgery: For very severe cases, the orthopedic specialist can recommend surgery as well. This kind of surgery aims at reattaching the displaced or ruptured tendon which may have reached such a fate through a sports or any other kind of injury. The doctor may also place your leg in a cast for a few weeks to keep it at complete rest. 
  • Pain Medication: The doctor can also prescribe pain relievers that contain Ibuprofen as well as acetaminophen or even naproxen. These medicines should be taken in moderation as per the doctor's prescription. Usually, this kind of medication is taken only when unbearable pain is experienced by the patient.
  • Thermotherapy or Heat Treatment: The use of heat for chronic pain or even pain that has been ailing for over 48 hours is known as thermotherapy. This therapy uses heating pads and hot water bottles to help relieve the pain. One must be careful while applying anything hot to the site of the injury. Use a towel to wrap the hot water bottle or heating pad so that there is no scalding or leaking on to the skin.
  • Footwear: It is important to prevent continuous injury and pain to the already injured Achilles tendon. To do this, you must wear supportive and comfortable footwear that has heel lifts and other customized orthotics built into the shoes. 

Taking care of Achilles Tendon pain is a matter of taking various precautions and supportive actions that lead to better healing. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an orthopedist.

Try few things for your back pain: - Apply Ice and Heat Heating pads and cold packs can comfort tender trunks. Most doctors recommend using ice for the first 48 hours after an injury -- particularly if there is swelling — and then switching to heat. You can use whichever you find comforting as long as your skin is protected. - Limit Bed Rest Studies show that people with short-term low-back pain who rest feel more pain and have a harder time with daily tasks than those who stay active. -Keep Exercising Activity is often the best medicine for back pain. Simple exercises like walking can be very helpful. But remember to move in moderation, Stay away from strenuous activities like gardening and avoid whatever motion caused the pain in the first place. -Maintain Good Posture most people have poor posture when going about their daily activities, putting unnecessary strain on their backs. -Strengthen Your Core Most people with chronic back pain would benefit from stronger abdominal muscles. If the abdominals are weak, other areas must pick up the slack. When we strengthen the abdominals, it often reduces the strain on the lower back. - Improve Flexibility Too much tension and tightness can cause back pain. By increasing flexibility you need to put an equal load throughout the body from the feet all the way up to the head. -Sleep the Right Way The amount of rest you get is important, and so is the position you get it in. Sleeping in a bad position or on a mattress without support can cause back pain. Back sleepers should put pillows under their knees. Side sleepers should place pillows between their knees to keep their spine in a neutral position. Stomach sleeping causes the neck and head to twist and can put undue stress on the back. -Use Relaxation Techniques Research shows that practices such as meditation, deep breathing and yoga, which help put the mind at rest, can do wonders for the back. -See a Specialist Developing an individualized exercise plan is essential to managing chronic back pain. Some patients need more core strengthening while others benefit mainly from stretching and improving flexibility. Please consult a Orthopedic Physiotherapist for the right exercise plan. Best wishes.

Causes and Symptoms of Neck Pain

Hi guys! I'm here to talk about neck pain today. Let me introduce myself. I'm Dr. Virmani.

I'm a Physio. I've been practicing for the last 20yrs. Many of our patients, when they come to us, quite often they complain about this Cervical Headache, or the pain originating from the head, from behind the neck and coming to the center of the head or coming to the sides of the head or sometimes they complain about burning sensation in the eyes.

You know what goes wrong? This is because of our sedentary lifestyle and the posture in which we are most of the times, that is, keeping the head bent, while on a laptop, on the mobile or on the tabloid we are keeping the neck in a bent position which leads to overstraining of the muscles behind the neck radiating the pain to the heads.

Now, there is a simple solution to it, what you can try at home is you can try massaging the back of the head and the neck area, that is, the area where the hairline stops. It is the connection between the neck and the head. You can just massage it with two fingers, massage it on both the sides. You can do this for almost two to three minutes twice a day and it'll give you good results.

Please do the following: 1. Keep your weight under control. 2. Do morning and evening walks daily. 3. Stretching and strengthening exercises for quads and hamstring muscles. 4. Medicines for 3 weeks : a. Tab Nucoxia 90 mg one tab a day after food b. Tab Pan 40 mg one tab a day before food c. Tab Gabantin 100 mg one tab two times a day after food If pain continues in spite of medicines, consider Total Knee Replacement.

Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defences against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures. Also, the body's defence mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or higher may be dangerous and demand immediate treatments like: -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used for fever in children/ adolescents or during a viral illness. -Wear loose fitting clothes and don’t overdress. Overdressing can cause temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -A fever can cause severe dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids.. Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami, Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash hands frequently with soap and water especially after returning from public places or public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

Babies sleep pattern change. Does your baby had any fever post vaccination in the recent 4-5 days? Or is there any pain at the site of vaccination if done recently? If its the case then it will settle in a couple of days. If not then you should consult a paediatrician for proper examination of your baby.

Hi lybrate-user, the thorns usually contain a fungus, called as sporotrichus and there can be other causes too, go to a nerby dermatologist and they ll help you with the same, right now you can take some pain killers and keep your foot away from moisture.

Neck massage will give good results. Use little good oil or plain water and massage from either side on the mid shoulder blade. Use your thumbs and move it slowly upwards on the back of neck up to the lower level of ear. Repeat 5 to 10 times. Do not do from top to down. Finally move your neck up and down, sideways left and right. Results are excellent.

Take rest for few days. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.

Dear lybrate-user, please get a vitamin d level and calcium levels done. If there is a defeciency it has to be corrected. It will make you feel better. Go for walks in mid morning sun and have milk and other calcium rich items. Consult post you get the reports.

Arthritis, which is quite a common ailment among people aged above 40, is painful regardless where it affects a person, be it the hands or the toes. However, the Ayurvedic field of medicine has come up with historic ways of treating the issue. Over the course of time, these methods have proved to be quite effective, and especially popular as they have no side effects. A person only needs to spend a little time to get to know how to go about using Ayurveda to cure the arthritic aches and pains, which plague daily life!

One of the best things about Ayurveda is the fact that the solutions are generally made using ingredients that are very easy to source. For example, there is a solution for arthritis, which involves mixing a cup of mustard oil with about 10 grams of camphor and then heating the combination. This oil mixture then needs to be massaged on the affected areas. Now, isn’t that simple?

The common potato, long considered to be a vegetable of the masses, also finds its use in Ayurveda when it comes to treating arthritis. If you soak a few unpeeled slices of potato in a glass of water overnight and drink this water the following morning, you are sure to find an improvement in your condition quite soon.

Additionally, there are a few other food items that are recommended in the Ayurvedic treatment. These include bitter gourd, which is not only low in calorie content, but also very high on vitamins and ginger which improves metabolism. Consuming garlic and buttermilk is also considered advantageous.

Moreover, you may also need to make some changes to the lifestyle habits, which have been deeply ingrained. For instance, sleeping as per a regular schedule and not going to sleep very late at night has a positive impact.

As you have probably be discerned, when it comes to health, the devil is in the eating! If a person who has arthritis makes an effort to conform to a good and healthy diet, which does not contain fried or sugary food, or even those which have spices in excess, he or she will not only find the pain symptoms of arthritis reducing, but also gain a general sense of health.

As long as a person has the patience to follow the way of treating arthritis set out by Ayurveda, the benefits will truly be bountiful!
