Your bmi is 31.54 kg/m2 showing grade 1 obesity. I am not aware what all the measures you have done to reduce weight. Please give details of thyroid test report, let me see that. Secondly your diet has to be based on (for caloric value) on ideal body weight that is 60 kgs, since you want to cut weight your total intake has to be very well regulated. That means daily calories should be restricted to a maximum of 1200 to 1300 kcal/day. Plus you will have to exercise for at least 1 hour. Brisk walking, aerobic exercise, jogging, skipping and swimming are to be undertaken. This has to continue for at least over a period of 3 to 4 years with same intensity. You should aim at a reduction of 5 to 8 % of present weight, initially.

Hello doctor, Sir/mam i am 46 years old i am suffering for rheumatoid arthritis from past 2 years doctor has confirmed as polyarthritis due to high uric acid and R A factor level high kindly please help me out. Finding a permanent solution for it. Regards.

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
there are not permanent solution for it..be on medicines..manege life style only...Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day. Drinking water at intervals keeps your body hydrated so that uric acid crystals do not form at all. A healthy intake of water can help flush excess uric acid out of the body. Increase your consumption of antioxidant-rich foods like cherries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes and pineapples. They prevent inflammation of the joints and help in the excretion of uric acid. Try apple cider vinegar. Not only is it known to lower uric acid levels, but it also helps to reduce arthritic pain, even when used as a topical application. Stay away from foods that can cause gout or trigger inflammation. These include beans, mushrooms, meat and fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines and crab. Although patients with gout are advised to limit alcohol intake, the best option would be to eliminate it completely. Alcohol not only increases the risk of gout it also increases the severity of symptoms.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. Both fasting and PP levels need to be brought down. To do that first an appropriate medicine has to be started, then one has to plan a diet based on ideal body weight, extent of daily exercise and blood glucose levels. Hence, unless all details are made available, it is difficult to give any suggestions. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidance, no prescriptions are allowed. Hence, it will be better if you come in a private conversation (paid consultation), then I will be able to give specific guidance and prescription also. Please inform weight, height, diet pattern, extent of daily exercise, HbA1c%, lipid profile & BP readings. Thanks.

Hypo & hyper glycemia are common problems asscociated with diabetes which might lead to headache. It is very im[ortant to keep blood glucose levels in check. 1. Kindly have small frequent meals at 2-3 hrs intervals 2. Avoid feasting & fasting 3. Exercise daily but not on empty stomach 4. Be physically active all the time 5. Lose some weight. Losing weight will improve your health a lot. 6. Have fibre rich foods like whole fruits, salads, stews, vegetables, seeds, nuts, whole grains (millets, atta, brown rice, dalia, suji), whole legumes (sprouts, rajma, soyabean). 7.
