Skin color of the baby is similar to parents skin. So if that's the case then please don't try to change nature. If both parents are fair and only son is dark then that needs evaluation for endocrine reasons.

My one month baby crying continuously for hungry and also crying after going urine.what to do

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH)
Pediatrician, Mangalore
My one month baby crying continuously for hungry and also crying after going urine.what to do
Always feed the baby in comfortable sitting position, awake baby properly while feeding. Feed the baby at least for 15_20 minutes, each time empty one breast, and give from other if needed, properly burp the baby after each feed. Keep at least 2 hours in between 2 feeds. So baby gets satisfied and won't cry, and no chance of getting colicky pain also. All baby's cry little while passing urine and passing sometimes stool. Don't worry.

I am 15 year old male boy I am suffering from asthma from birth how to cure due to tablets I have become fat what is the cure.

DAA, DNB
Pulmonologist, Bangalore
Hi. I understand your concerns. You will need to undergo a detailed examination and pulmonary function test which is needed for diagnosis and also to assess severity of asthma based on which treatemnt can be started. Asthma is chronic and a common problem causing symptoms. Unfortunately it can not be cured but can definitely be controlled so that you can lead a symptom free life. Consult a pulmonologist for the same. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.

It is dangerous to stay with ayurveda alone in a child. He may have allergic rhinitis for which there are safe medicines in allopathy as I am treating many. If it is infective he will need a course of antibiotic initially. Take care.

5 months baby should not be put on cereal but it should be started once he had completed 6 months of age. Baby requires exclusive breast feeding in first 6 months of life. Even water is not required irrespective of weather condition 2 anytime freshly prepared home made non chewable mashed food should be introduced like dal dalia khichri sujji ka halwa mashed banana 3 fruits juices soup can be supplemented to home made family food. 4 say big no to commercial baby food except in special circumstances like travel working mother.

My son is 5 year's old he is often infected (viral) and complains of stomach pain regularly. Recent ultrasound confirms mesentronic lymph nodes between 6 mm to 12 mm on short axis in abdomen. Please advice me.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Chandigarh
Mesenteric lymphadenitis (enlarged lymph nodes) are not so uncommon in children. As far as your child is concerned size is small. First thing is to rule out infection / tb. Any history of tb contact? you can give him a trial of antibiotics for seven days. And can get a repeat usg for the size of lymph nodes.

Hi my son is 4 years old from last few days he is excessively crying, I think that he has problem with his digestive system whenever he takes milk he started crying after sometime please help me he is also diagnosed with canavan diseases.

MD - Homeopathy
Pediatrician, Mumbai
Intake of milk might be making him cry because he must not be liking milk. Crying usually at this age is attention seeking behaviour. Ignore at times when you think that he is crying without any reason.

Hi Dr. My baby is now 12 days old. But I am experiencing pain while breast feeding. What should I do?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
This is very common problem while feeding as some part of milk is not expressed from the breasts causing it engorged. If breasts are engorged (red/pink and firm), then baby will not be able to suck milk properly. You may need to start with gentle hand expressing or a breast pump until your baby is able to put nipple comfortably into his or her mouth. Try using warm cloth on your breasts before a feed to help the milk to flow.

My child is getting cold always in winter but why it is for child not for elders?

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Varanasi
My child is getting cold always in winter but why it is for child not for elders?
Resistance through an airway is inversally proportional to fourth power of radius (Bernoullie's principle). Children has narrow airway which make it more susceptible for wheezing. Also the immunity at extremes of ages is less making them both children and old aged people more susceptible for infections.

If you are taking a balanced meal and drinking plenty of water , then you will produce enough milk for your baby. After feeding from both sides , your baby WILL BE FULL . You need to burp him after the feed before you put him down. If he doesn't burp then he may cry or be uncomfortable. That doesn't mean he is hungry. You need to give a gap of about 2 hours or more for the milk to be digested. You don't need any medicine.

I have myometrial fibriods, do these fibroid cause hindrance to pregnancy . One is located in uterine fundal region and another with in the posterior myometrium uterine body

Mere fibroid does not always hinder pregnancy. The treatment of fibroid depends on symptoms (menstrual problems), tubal function, husband's semen etc. I personally try to treat fibroids with medicine except in extreme cases where surgery may be needed.
