Hi, I am 24 yrs old male. I have got black spots on my lips and frontal gum areas due to smoking. Please suggest me how to get rid of it?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
The main reason of these spots are smoking otherwise there can be other reasons for black spots, normally they me be simple hyper pigmentation spots which goes away with time. Spots on gums can be again due to hyper pigmentation and they go away in due course of time, there is nothing to worry.

Habit of keeping betal nuts, chewable pan masala, gutkha is very irritating to oral mucosa. This irritation for a long duration changes the normal cells to cancerous cells.

Gums bleeding is due to infection in gums. Get scalling done by dentist. Use proper brushing techniques. Brush, floss n use mouthwash twice daily. Massage your gums with your finger tips after brushing. Keep your tongue clean. Rinse your mouth well after each meal. Visit your dentist for dental checkups every 6 months to detect n prevent dental probs.

I am 24 years old. I have got tartar or plaque on my teeth of lower jaw from past 4 months. What would be the treatment I have to undergo and what I have to do to prevent it from further growing?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

What is your mothers age does she suffer from diabetes or other conditions if not then fixing the teeth is a good option as it preserves bone n keeps it good for a long time due to direct function.

I will give u a paste called snowdent which can be used twice daily in a week. Do not use other tooth paste on that day. Avoid the regular tooth paste only those days when you use this toothpaste. After two months see the result.

Hi Mr. Lybrate-user. First we need to know was it always the same or its happened lately. Considering your age orthodontic treatment is not an absolute indication. But in any case if your guns and bine are fine it could be considered. If cosmetic is not an issue for you for. Short while. In any case visit your dentist for alternate solutions
