I am suffering from headache and leg pain also what should I do and which medicines should I take?

Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired that can also be reason to have frequent sprains in the leg once the oxygen levels in the blood comes down it automatically leads to improper functioning of the joints and muscles and that also might make the hip muscles to become tired thereby straining mildly might lead to leg pain.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana? lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am 54 years old man. 2 years back I had pain in my left thigh. I could walk and run but on rotating or twisting the leg it would pain. X-ray indicated all normal. It was not localized at specific point on thigh. Doctors gave pain killers which I avoided. Pain was bearable. Since I travel by bus frequently, I presumed it could be because of that. The pain in thigh remand for a year moving from one spot to other by an inch only ( or can be said could not find specific point of pain on thigh). Suddenly one fine morning I had shooting pain on my right arm. I took pain killer that day and after 2-3 hours it vanished but next day the pain started on my left arm - bearable. This pain continued for few months. There was no pain in thigh. Now there is no visible pain any where but if I press with fingers the left toe (foot)in the top middle I feel sweet pain. This is for the past one month. Changed the shoes as well as wear loose shoes but slight pain is their. Bus travel is continuing. What is it all about. I believe some nerve get pressed behind my neck while travelling as I lean my neck on the back of the seat. Please give your advise.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am dr akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Please your symptoms actually do not correspond to any issues in the cervical spine per se because you have not mentioned any radiating pain in upper or lower limbs for a long period. Please kindly elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your neck pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any radiation of pain in upper limbs or lower limbs or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias ( electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

Requires detailed investigation and examination Presently investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d xray of the affected part. Anyway you may try sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Usually eating food should not lead to back pain, if you are not maintaining correct posture while eating- like sitting on floor etc, can lead to back pain so avoid sitting on floor, sitting crosslegged do not bend forward to lift any heavy weight do regular exercises for general well being and back strengthening exercises take vitamin d supplement.

I had an accident on 15th dec 2015. As per my ortho surgeon, I have acl tear in my left leg due to which left leg is not stable. He is suggesting for arthroscopic surgery. But I am not ready for this as I have already had left elbow surgery with implants and I do not want any more surgery. I am able to walk properly as of now. But no running, no sports. Is there any other way out for this? Pls advise.

MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy, BPTh/BPT

If complete tear then surgery must and partial tear then laser therapy and strength exercise is best it depend on your tear. You don't want any other surgery and you uv no problem to walk then start strength exercise but be care full start very gradually process.

I am a 44 years old male and I have suffering from CKD -3, with BP, so have backache for last 6 month and if I seat for 3 hr. At office continuously then my both foots are swelling so, what should I do? Pls suggest me that what type of medicine to be take?

MBBS
General Physician,
Your high bp and kidney disease is interrelated. The swelling of the leg nsy be due to gravitational eadema of leg for prolonged position of legs or could be duebto medicine which by or are taking for your blood pressure. So best thing would be to consult your treating physician. Do not self medicate.

What causes shin pain. Should I take vitamin d with Calcium to get it recover fast. I am a regular runner.

MD - General Medicine, MBBS
General Physician,
Since you are a runner, shin pain may be because of a tiny break in the bone of your leg. This is called stress fracture. It is due to repeated stress on your bone due to the running. In order to confirm an xray has to be done. The treatment usually involves rest and allow the bone to heal. Vit D and calcium might not help a great deal in the healing.

From morning I have my eyes like full of blood redness in the eye and their is pain in my lower back head and the sides of the head when ever I speak it pains. And I feel dizziness and some type of feeling then I will fell down Can you tell me what happens to me and how to overcome the problem.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hi lybrate-user. You should immediately get your blood pressure assessed. Redness of the eye is one of the most prevalent problems observed. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. It occurs with symptoms of pricking, itching, irritation, watering, foreign body sensation and discomfort. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. Thus, eye hygiene remains the principal modality of treatment along with eye drops as a supplement. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. There may occur associated pain and sensation of itching, pricking, watering and discomfort. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic because it would require immediate removal from the eye and appropriate therapy. (4) raised eye pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the covering layers of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. The redness in this case tends to be deep dark and usually occurs only in one portion of the eye. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. (7) injury/ trauma to the eye in any form may cause redness of the eyes. This should be taken seriously and assessed in detail by an eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a fluctuation of blood pressure. Get it assessed along with your blood sugar levels and then we can follow up from there. Also, you might require a complete eye evaluation in order to rule out other causes. This would be possible only by examining your eyes in person. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.
