Chronic Myeloid Leukemia & Essential Thrombocythemia: BCR-ABL p210 Major Transcript Positive with Platelet Count reaching 18 Lakh as per CBC report. Mitinab 400 was recommended but developed kidney stones and intense Hair fall post taking this medicine and when I stopped the medicine the platelets increased back to 18 Lakh. Consulted another Hematologist and he also suggested the same medicine but reduced the dose to 100 mg initially along with Hyroxyurea but eventually, he also suggested to keep the dose to 400 mg. I am getting married in April this year and really worried about my condition. Is this a symptom of CML? Or ET only as Platelet count is huge? Does it going to have any adverse effect on my married life?
If BCR ABL1 transcript is positive as you have stated, then it confirms a diagnosis of CML. In that case you have to take Imatinib or other TKIs for the treatment. It cannot be ET if BCR ABL is positive.
Im a Hemophilia A patient and I am getting married next month, Can hemophilia will prevented for new born baby. How can I avoid my baby to be affected from this Disease.
If it's a female child then she will be a carrier only and if it's a male child he will be normal provided your wife is not a carrier. Your child won't have a full blown Hemophilia disease unless your wife is a carrier.
Yes. 25 percent chance of the child being completely normal and 50 percent chance of the child having thal minor. Only 25 percent chance that the child will have thal major. U can always do a prenatal diagnosis and confirm the status of the foetus during the early pregnancy ancy period and take necessary actions.
My husbands blood report is: haemoglobin is 16.5 MCV 80 MCH 26.9 MCHC 33.4 RDW 13.6 MPV 7.6 I would like to know if he has minor thalassemia or not .or are any further tests required to identify.
The test results are not suggestive of thalassemia minor. There is still a possibility of silent variants and other forms of thalassemia (delta-beta etc).; however those are inconsequential and asymptomatic unless you are also a thal minor in which case your children will be at risk of moderate anemia.
