Asked for female, 24 years old from Hyderabad
A person with early stage papillary carcinoma of thyroid can lead a normal life span after treatment?
Hello Ms. lybrate-user A properly managed papillary carcinamo thyroid patient can live a life on par with any normal individual. He/she will require a thyroid harmone supplementation every day morning. May require a calcium supplementation if his/her parathyroids were not conserved. He/she need to be on regular follow-up by regular clinical examination, Sr TSH, Sr Throglobulin and USG neck periodically to look for any recurrences. Papillary ca thyroid is a slow growing cancer and can be effectively managed without any tussle even in recurrence. All the best.
My father's biopsy report suggests that there is poorly differentiated carcinoma and possible squamous cell carcinoma can you tell me what does poorly differentiated mean & and what stage it is of cancer?
Differentiation means how closely a tissue resembles to its native tissue cells. Poorly differentiated means it has almost no resemblance to its native cells. The provided information is grossly insufficient to comment on the stage of the disease. Kindly provide the details regarding the organ of involvement and the extent of spread (CT/MRI details).
