Due to the lack of iodine in the diet of a person, it causes an enlargement of the thyroid gland. This condition is known as Colloid Goiter or colloid nodular or endemic goiter. Not only does it cause swelling of the thyroid, but also causes breathing difficulties, dizziness, enlarged neck veins and difficulty in swallowing. It may become toxic if the goiter is persistent.

Colloid goiter does not spread further. (only in the thyroid gland)
