How To Care For Your New Born?

How To Care For Your New Born?

No matter how much time you spend researching on how to take care of your newborn, once your child is delivered, the first few weeks will leave you frantic and overwhelmed. However, there are a few tips which new parents must keep in mind.

Handling a New born:

  • 1. Since babies have a weak immune system and are susceptible to infections, it is of paramount importance that anyone who handles your child has clean and sanitized hands.
  • 2. You also need to be careful about always supporting and cradling your child's head and neck since the muscles in his or her neck are weak at birth, and babies only develop head control after six months.
  • 3. Never shake your newborn baby whether playfully or out of frustration. Shaking the baby can cause bleeding in the brain or in severe cases, death. Tickle your child's feet to wake him or her up.
  • 4. Not only is it important to make sure that your baby is fastened securely in the car seat, stroller or carrier, you must also restrain from activities which may be bouncy or rough.

Diapering:
Firstly, you must decide whether you want disposable or cloth diapers for your infant. Babies go through at least ten diapers a day (irrespective of whether they are cloth or disposable). While diapering, you must keep in mind to not leave your baby unattended on the changing tables. So get all the supplies such as clean diaper, diaper ointment (in case of rash), fasteners, diaper wipes and warm water, before changing his or her diaper.

Bathing:
Newborn babies need to be given a sponge bath with warm water and very little soap till the navel and/or the circumcision heals completely. This can take about one to four weeks. After being healed, the baby should be bathed twice or thrice a week since frequent bathing may damage the baby's skin.

Breastfeeding and Burping:
Doctors recommend feeding the baby on demand i.e. whenever your baby is hungry. Crying, putting fingers in the mouth, or making sucking noises convey that the baby is hungry. A new born baby needs to be fed every couple of hours.
Burping is important so that the air consumed during the feedings can be let out since it makes the baby fussy. Patting or rubbing a baby's back usually helps them to burp or pass gas.

If any problem when breast feed just after feeding lactogen milk. Please suggest.

Baby will not like to accept breast milk again once already given lactogen feeds. So fundamental is to breastfeed first .if baby remai s hungry then only lactogen milk to be given.

My son 3 years old have always cold and sneezing suggest me effective homeopathy medicine.

My son 3 years old have always cold and sneezing suggest me effective homeopathy medicine.
You can start with Ars Alb 30/4 times for 3 days 1. Do saline gargles daily. 2. Whenever possible do steam inhalation also. 3. Cover your nose and mouth with hanky for at least 30 sec when you go in dusty areas also when you go in and out of AC. As our nose is the most sensitive part of our body, When there is temperature difference between two rooms or inside n outside, then if we not protect our nose, it gets affected. 4. Drink Hot Liquids --Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, prevent dehydration, and soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat. 5. Sleep With an Extra Pillow Under Your Head-- Elevating your head will help relieve congested nasal passages. If the angle is too awkward, try placing the pillows between the mattress and the box springs to create a more gradual slope. 6. Treat That Stuffy Nose With Warm Salt Water-- Salt-water rinsing helps break nasal congestion, while also removing virus particles and bacteria from your nose. 7. Blow Your Nose Often (and the Right Way)-- It's important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than sniffling mucus back into your head. But when you blow hard, pressure can carry germ-carrying phlegm back into your ear passages, causing earache. The best way to blow your nose: Press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other. Homeopathic treatment has very encouraging results and gives relief in long term please ask for consultation with detailed information so that I can help you better.

I am having difficulty in latching my baby for feeding. Please provide suggestions.

BHMS
Homeopath, Noida
For a good latch follow these steps Keep your baby close, supporting his neck but allowing his head to move. Your baby needs to start with his nose opposite your nipple and then come in chin first. Wait for your baby to open his mouth really wide, then take a big mouthful of breast. Make sure to keep fingers far from the nipple so you don't affect how the baby latches on. Aim the nipple toward the baby's upper lip/nose, not the middle of the mouth. You might need to rub the nipple across the top lip to get your baby to open his/her mouth. The baby's head should be tilted slightly back.

Do not worry, try to ensure that the temperature is pleasant (neither more warm nor too cold) and check the diapers (replace it if wet ). Sometimes it is due to hunger or stomach disturbance. Check the temperature also. Read more from the internet about infant care and how to tackle minor problems. Go for regular health check up with the pediatrician and follow the instructions. Overall, it is part of growing up and therefore do not panic. Try to observe your baby and it's behaviour and understand it's needs.

Most toddlers wake briefly a few times each night as they move from one phase of sleep to another. The trick is to teach your toddler to settle himself back to sleep again when this happens. If your one-year-old will only fall asleep when you're there, he'll find it hard to get back to sleep without you when he wakes in the night. A consistent bedtime routine can teach your toddler to drift off by himself. Choose calming activities to relax your toddler for the night, such as a bath or a massage, followed by a story and a soothing lullaby. Make sure you do the same things at the same time every night so he knows what to expect.
