How Neglect from Parents Affects Your Child?

How Neglect from Parents Affects Your Child?

Parents sometimes tend to neglect their children due to various reasons. However, this negligence influences the children severely. It can affect the development, personality, relationship traits of the children. Every child needs care and love. Parents are naturally the closest people in a child’s world. Negligence from the closest people can lead to destructive character traits in their personality.

1. Attachment problems: One of the primary and direct effects of parental negligence towards children can lead children to be less attached with family. If a child does not get the warmth and care from parents, he automatically detaches from the family bonding and even does not develop the love and compassionate feelings for the family. This pattern hardly changes over time, and it can even lead to problematic relationship of the child in the future. The child may not be able to be close to his own children later.

2. Brain development: Children are tender and sensitive, just like floral buds. Every stimulus has an action. For instance, a child who is affected by malnutrition suffers from weak neural cells. This can be a reason behind weak brain functions. The basic pillars of brain processes, that is, thinking and logical thinking, everything is affected due to parental negligence. It may lead to low level of self-confidence, depression, frustration, anxiety and stress, troubled thoughts and emotional distortions.

Signs of parental negligence in children

1. Eating Disorders

2. Disrupted Sleep

3. Withdrawal from family bonding

4. Aggressive attitude

5. Bed wetting

6. Missing out school

7. Obsessive traits in behavioural patterns

8. Nightmares

9. Sudden change in attitude and behaviours

10. Depression

11. Violence

Every child seeks complete attention and love of his or her parents. However, parents may neglect them due to work stress, social obligations, personal problems and other such reasons. But parents should be considerate about the developmental barriers that could be posed due to this type of negligence. Some children also show eating habit changes, abusive attitude, violence or sometimes even plunge into complete isolation. While children require free scope to let their emotional and mental development boost with social activities, neglected children can withdraw themselves from social activities.

This means no friends, no social activity in life. This is a major reason for depression, suicidal attempts, deformed thought processes and misled lifestyle. As a parent, you can offer your optimum care and affection to your child to avoid such mental distortions, which can be avoided with love and warmth. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult the doctor and ask a free question.

Hi, Lybrate user, You are suggested to change formula milk suitable to your baby on consultation of local pediatrician, please. Give, homoeopathic medicine:@ China 30 -1 drops + 1tsfl of milk, thrice. Moreover ,a 7 months baby should be given solid food, too minimise dependency on formula milk. Tk, care.

My baby boy is 1 year and 2 months old. He is suffering from diarrhea since past 1 month. In this period we v visited doctor thrice. In our second last visit we were asked to have baby stool test done. In the test it was found that stool has 10-20 mew/f Pus. Occult blood - Present. Reaction - Acidic. We can see RBC in potty since past 7 days. It is basically in form of threads/raisins/drops. I don't know why lab was unable to detect RBC. It was a normal stool test and not Culture one. Doctor prescribed Zinc and enter plus. Also he said stop all dairy products. My child is active and playful with no fever. But lost around 700 grams in a month. On asked, when will the blood stop, doctor told us that it will take a week. My questions are: 1. Seeing blood coming out from babies potty is very heartening and we are tensed, can anyone please suggest what can we do to ensure blood in potty stops quickly. 2. How long will it take before his diarrhea stops. My child is suffering from 1 month. Please suggest what else we can do to stop his diarrhea quickly. I trust my doctor but want a second opinion. Please help. - Very concerned Mom and Dad.

5 Tips on How to Talk to Your Child About Sex for the First Time

5 Tips on How to Talk to Your Child About Sex for the First Time

5 Tips on How to Talk to Your Child About Sex for the First Time

You may find it very uncomfortable to talk to your child about sex for the first time, but it’s a parenting skill you need to acquire. Encouraging your child to discuss their sex-related queries with you will ensure that they don’t pick up wrong information from undesirable sources, or conceive notions that might affect their overall behaviour.

Moreover, it will also strengthen the bond between you and your child. Here are some effective tips that will make it easier for you to talk with your child about sex.

1. Be confident

First of all ensure that you have all the facts correctly arranged in your mind. Do some research, if necessary. Set a specific plan beforehand on how you intend to solve your child’s sex related queries. Always remember the fact you are your child’s role model and you need to have the correct knowledge to educate your child about sex. Face all the questions asked by your child confidently, without letting him/her sense your discomfort.

2. Use proper anatomical terms

Use the actual anatomical terms while referring to the various body parts, like vagina or penis for example. If you use any indirect word or expression to convey your message, the child will sense your embarrassment in talking about certain body parts. This will create a wrong impression in the mind of the child about sex from the beginning. You can use humour as a tool to overcome your discomfort while talking. Moreover, this will also help your child to open up easily.

3. Don’t project sex as a bad thing

It is very important to convey the idea to your children that sex is not an act of sin, but it is regarded as a sin only when misused, like rape or sexual abuse. Encourage them to accept the fact that the occurrence of changes in their body with the onset of puberty is completely normal. Also convey that these changes are a positive way of making them a complete human being.

4. Teach your children the importance of sexual purity

Enrich your children with values like loyalty, respect and love. Teach them the importance of remaining faithful to their partner and treating their partner with love and care. Motivate them to resist peer pressure and not to embrace infidelity.

5. Set healthy boundaries

Set boundaries for your children carefully and make them understand why you did so. For example, convey that their modesty should be reflected from their appearance and behaviour because that is the best they can do to respect their own bodies. Moreover, put specific guidelines on what type of media your child is allowed to watch and tell him/her that it is a way to respect and let his/her thoughts grow. Gradually, when your children start showing mature reactions to these guidelines, allow them to make their own choices and give them more personal space.
